Chapter Eight

you've already lost everything

3rd Person POV

she walked downstairs and saw jason making breakfast. she smiled as he presented it to her and she laughed

"this is very sweet" she said and he smiled as he leaned in and kissed her. all of a sudden his phone buzzed and they looked at it

"who is it?" she asked

"its rachel. gars in trouble, she said they need all hands on deck. yeah, well, fuck that. the titand can deal with their problems without us" he said and kamari stared at him

"what?" she asked and he turned to her

"kam, they didn't want to help us before" he said and she scoffed as she looked around

"they clearly need us now jaybird" she told him and he shook his head making her look at the ground and sigh. she couldn't believe that this is what he was thinking, it was like he genuinely believed that they didn't need them

"its probably dick playing some games" he said and she sighed

"look, i don't care. I'm going" she said and he stared at her

"you're serious? kam they didn't even care when they thought we were going to die, we're rejects to them" he said and she looked around. the words hurt her, she knew she was a reject. she knew that so many peoples lives would be better without her

"i don't care. they took me in, they care about me and if this is some sort of test, or a game or one of dicks many trials, then i would rather pass then be left behind to rot and lose everything" she said and he scoffed

"you've already lost everything, you don't have a family anymore kamari. wake up" he said and she froze as she stared at him

"fuck you" she said

"kam" he tried

"no, no I'm leaving. in case you haven't notice, they are my family. they took me in and they care about me. I'm not a reject and I'm not alone. sure i ran away from my mom but that was my choice. I'm leaving" she said and she grabbed her stuff as she looked at jason and she walked out of the building. she looked behind her and ran as fast as she could. she began to let the plants carry her out and away from there.

she got to her house and she sighed as she walked in to grab her things.

"kamari" ivy said and she turned to see her mother standing there.

"hi mom" she exclaimed and ivy walked forward as she stared at her daughter

"heard you joined the titans, is that true?" she asked and kamari continued to put her things in the duffle bag.

"yeah" she said and ivy sighed

"you ran away" she stated

"i had no other choice mom, you want me to be perfect, you want me to be you. you don't care about the fact that i don't like hurting people, i don't like putting people in danger and you don't care. you were never like my mom and dad was never my dad. i needed you mom and you didn't care" she said and ivy looked around

"so you came here to get your things and run again?" she asked as she leaned against the wall and stared at her

"yeah" she said and ivy walked out as she brought in boxes and turned to kamari

"if this is what you want , i want to help. i just want you to be safe and keep yourself safe" she told her and kamari smiled as they began to pack up together again. kamari felt ivy put keys in her backpocket and she smiled

"thanks for not getting mad at me mom" she exclaimed as they finished packing and ivy hugged her daughter.

"i would never get mad at you for finding yourself" she said into the hug and kamari sighed. her and ivy didn't have the best relationship but that didn't matter. it didn't matter because at least ivy was supportive now, at least she was letting the girl find herself now. kamari had spent so long not knowing who she was or what she wanted and if she knew then it would be shocking.

"be good kamari, the truck is outside waiting for you. be safe, ill be here if you're ready to come home and if you never want to come home ill be here" she told her and kamari smiled as she let go of her mother.

they brought the boxes out to the truck and kamari got in the drivers seat as she started the truck. she turned and saw a red flashing light on one of the boxes. it was a tracker and usually she would be mad but she wasn't. she wasn't mad because at least ivy cared about her, at least she wanted to know that the girl was safe and sound.

"of course" kamari laughed as she began to drive back to the titans tower. she didn't look behind her to see if someone was following. she could fight them if they were.

"kamari are you there?" she heard and she looked around but she didn't hear anything again. she didn't know what it was but she didn't care. she didn't care enough to look around again. the girl was driving as fast as she could. the wind was flowing through out the truck and she didn't mind it.

she turned up the radio as she watched the signs pass by her as well as the trees and buildings. she just wanted to get home and help everyone. she just wanted to be able to say that she helped someone in some sort of way.

when she would be able to do that, she didn't know but she would find out soon enough.
