Her hands grab the deck of the ship, stopping her from falling off like intended. It burns but the screaming pushing her back burns her ears more. And she thought she was the only person with superpowers in town just moments ago but apparently not.

She stares the villain in the eye, keeping herself low to avoid hearing everything too loudly. Even if she can make everything slow down, making the speed of sound slower than her when the sound in mere feet from her seems impossible, unreached by her at least. She doesn't know the full extent of her powers yet.

Her ears are ringing at the horrible noise, reminding her of what a dog whistle is said to be but as if coming from a huge stereo at full volume, comes out of that mouth again. The ship is literally pulsating under her hands at the noise.

"Why are you doing this?" she asks.

If this is like the comic books, she'll get a monologue long enough to give her a chance.

"I just want justice!"

She rolls her eyes, looking around for a way to shut this annoying woman up.

"Justice for what? Did someone murder your parents or something?"

"You don't need to know shit!"

Worth the shot, she thinks as the villain comes closer and closer, clearly meaning to make a physical attack instead of cowardly screeching from a few feet away like she did multiple times before now.

"The water is lovely, it might just feel good to have a little swim."

She rolls away, getting herself father away from falling off and standing up behind the woman.

"Swim yourself."

The villain turns and screeches, landing her against the wall.

"No, you first."

She throws a punch, causing quite the pain against the hero's cheek.

"Are you gonna cry?"

She shakes her head before kicking one of the villains feet, causing her to fall down.

She slows down time, forcing a raw fish into the mouth of the villain before she has the time to screech again.

It gets choked out and there's an another screech, fast enough to catch the hero.

In her hurt, she accidentally returns the time returns to normal, meaning the villain is now fast again and getting closer and closer until she has her by the neck.

"Any last words?"

She bites her face, getting the villain to let go in pain and shock.

She slows the time again, trying to get thinking time. She doesn't remember a comic book that she could pull a plan from.

Another screech, another moment where the time returns to normal. She's getting sick of it, honestly.

She feels a pair of hands grabbing her and attempting to throw her over the edge and, in her panic, she grabs back and gets both of them into the water.

"YOU—."

She kicks the villains face, forcing her to go underwater while grabbing onto the side of the boat and attempting to pull herself up.

The villain grabs her hands, dragging her underwater with her.

She attempts it again, only ending up with her whole body underwater again. Whoever this villain is, she is a damn strong girl.

She attempts to screech, getting nothing but a need for air. The water around them does react to the noise but nothing else happens.

The water's cold, continues to feel even colder as the villain keeps her face underwater. Her head hurts, water is in her mouth because she took a breath on accident and the fact she can't breathe is becoming increasingly apparent.

Some kind of adrenaline boost gets her enough strength to push her head up and wrestle the villain underwater.

It's getting dark and she's pretty sure they've struggled a lot further from the boat than meant to. Her limbs feel horrible, she feels sick and she can't feel the bottom at all. She is sure that she's dying so she just looks up at the sky and hopes that something will help her, trying to make sense of what kind of time fidgeting she can do to get herself out of this.

The sun is moving far too quickly, maybe double or triple the speed it should be. But she doesn't have time to think about that before the villain stops struggling. When she lets go, nobody swims up.

She screams at the sight of the villain rising to the top of the water with her face still towards the water. It's clear as day to the heroine that she's dead, her face still planted downwards.

She can't stand it, leaving the body behind as she swims to the boat and attempts to climb on again, now in normal time.

She finally gets herself up with what she has left of her small adrenaline rush from earlier, collapsing on the deck while shivering.

Her hand goes to open a bag, finding a picture of a smiling family and a phone as well as a wallet.

The family has three kids, two cats and two sets of adults. One of the adults is rather clearly the screaming woman from just moments ago, just seemingly much happier than she had been today.

She opens the phone and with shaking hands calls the emergency number.

"What's your emergency?"

"I-I... I was on a boat and then it didn't work anymore and wind blew me into the water. I'm freezing."

"Do have any idea where you are, ma'am?"

"No, I really don't."

Her eyes scan the body in the distance, mind debating how to confess to manslaughter.

"Alright, we can track you through the phone. Try to stay warm, okay? And don't hang up."

"Alright."

She keeps the phone call on, looking at the picture. They'd deserve to know about the death but she can't afford jail and she was defending herself so she could've gotten killed.

She rips the picture, digging through the bag to dispose of the rest of the evidence, throwing cards and such over the edge but taking the wallet. Lastly, but more importantly, she puts her mask in the bag along with all the money.

Hey, she's struggling with money right now, thirty something bucks isn't that bad.

"Ma'am, are you alright?"

"Yes. Just please take me home, I have been here for hours."

"What were you doing on the boat?"

"I was just looking at it and it started running. I thought I'd get arrested for theft or something so I jumped on to stop it. I'm sorry, I'll pay the repairs, just please get me home. I'm cold."
