Jimin sighed, glaring at the small gift in his hand. What was he thinking? Jungkook obviously didn't like him. Like, why would he deflect him all the time if he didn't?

Jimin stood up from the couch in their dance room and dropped the box in the trash can beside the door before going out.

Jungkook looked at the lake that was gleaming under the moonlight. He was standing on a bridge, alone, when he heard a cough.

His head whipped around, as he saw a familiar dark haired boy standing beside him. Jungkook gave Taehyung a small smile.

"Hey," he murmured into the silence. Taehyung didn't reply, just stared at the lake like him, his hands wrapped around himself, shielding him from the cold night air.

"So," Taehyung said pointedly after a minute. Jungkook raised an eyebrow, looking amused, but didn't say anything. "What were you doing this evening? Weren't you with Jimin?"

"Ah," Jungkook just smiled, raking his hand through his hair. "Well, Jimin spent most of the time flirting with me, so..."

Taehyung sighed. Jungkook gave him a quick glance before continuing to look at the lake.

"You know he is serious, right?" Taehyung softly said. Jungkook dropped his head on the stone railing of the bridge. The cool surface touched his forehead as he gave a slight nod. "Why don't-"

"Hyung!" Jungkook looked up indignantly. Taehyung rolled his eyes. "I- I can't, okay?"

"That's what I am asking! Why not?"

"Look, I, I do like him," Jungkook tried to tell him. "But, I just can't do it the way he does. He's, he's always so outward about it and it's, it's too much, sometimes. Then I end up pushing him away because I can't cope with it."

"Kookie, I know," Taehyung said to him seriously. "But you have to stop! Or else, this won't end good."

Jungkook rubbed his face with both his hands, trying to understand what to do.

"So what do you think I should do?"

"Well," Taehyung grabbed him by the shoulders, forcing him to look up. "Firstly, go and say sorry. Then tell him what you feel and why you push him away. He's hurt, Jungkook. And he needs you, bu-"

Jungkook didn't let him finish. He ran past him, his hand in the air to tell him goodbye. Taehyung looked around, a smile on his face.

His work was done.

"Jimin!" Jungkook slammed open the door to their practice room, where usually Jimin lived religiously. But the dark room just told him that Jimin had once been there.

His face dropped and he was about to shut the door when his eyes landed on a sparkly box in the trash can that was gleaming from the light in the hallways.

It was small gift box. Jungkook picked it up and examined it. Why would someone throw away a gift? Puzzled, he looked at it's bottom. Four words were written on them.

To: Kookie :)
From: Jimin

Jungkook inhaled sharply. His hands trembled as he opened the box. A shiny new watch shone at him.

Jungkook bit his lip. He had wanted that watch for so long, but he couldn't get it. It was hard to obtain it and Jimin...

He wanted to cry but he just picked out the watch and tied it around his wrist. Then he closed the door and started running to who knows where, desperately looking for Jimin.

He ran out of the building, onto the streets, into a park, everywhere where they had been, but Jimin was nowhere to be found.

Half an hour later, Jungkook was panting as he had broke into a slow walk. He was clutching his sides, hoping Jimin might be at his home. But a hooded figure on the bench outside of the building in which Jimin lived, made Jungkook do a double take.

"J- Ji-m-min!" Jungkook tried to catch his breath, but everything burned, especially his throat. Jimin looked up, shocked at his appearance.

"What are you doing here?!" Jimin asked, standing up. He grabbed Jungkook by his shoulders and made him sit beside him. "Were you running?"

Jungkook didn't reply for a minute. Only when he had regained his breath and his throat burned less, did he swallow Jimin in a big hug.

Worried, yet flushed, Jimin hugged him back, his hand moving across Jungkook's back, trying to calm him down.

"Is everything okay?" He asked him. Jungkook reluctantly let go and Jimin identified the guilt in his face as Jungkook avoided his eye. Jimin's eye fell on the sparkling piece of silver metal. "My watch! Wait, I threw that-"

"I'm sorry," Jungkook said, his right hand rubbing his nape. "For everything. I didn't want to hurt you when I pushed you away all those times."

Hurt flashed in Jimin's eyes, but he forced a pained smile on.

"It's ok-"

"No, it's not!" Jungkook cried, tears blooming in his eyes. Jimin now became extremely concerned. "I, I love you, Jimin! And I shouldn't have hurt you!"

Jimin was shocked, but continued rubbing his back even faster now.

"It's just, I can't express myself like you do," Jungkook whispered. "I am not brave like you. I can't believe I hurt the person I love the most in the world. I know sorry doesn't cut it, but please fo-"

Jimin just hugged him tightly and Jungkook stopped blabbering, and took the time to savour the moment.

"Stop," Jimin said in Jungkook's ear. "I am glad that you feel the same way. This is the best New Year's gift ever."

"Oh yeah," Jungkook grinned, as Jimin wiped his wet eyes. "It's new year, isn't it? I guess, it's a new start for us too."

"Yeah, the best start," Jimin pressed his forehead against Jungkook's. The smile that graced both their faces in that moment, just made them forget everything around them.

They had nothing to be sorry about that new year.
