"You didn't have to come here, Sebastian," Calista said as she watched him pack the few belongings his assistant Roger had brought to the hospital two days prior.

"Of course I did. Otherwise I'd have to hear Pop Pop gush about that nurse, Janelle. They went from being enemies to being friends rather quickly. I just hope he doesn't want to marry her. I don't need a step-grandmother that's younger than me."

Calista laughed. "I doubt she'd have him. She's into younger men."

"How do you know that?"

Calista grinned. "I looked at her cell phone. She has pictures of boy band  members and some singer named Charlie Puth on it. I'm pretty sure she's not interested in Pop Pop no matter how sweet he is."

"Well, I don't think being sweet would win her over but being rich might. Money makes people do unpredictable things."

"Don't worry. Janelle wouldn't do anything like that. Anyway, thank you for coming. I appreciate it."

"I'm your brother. Besides, do you know how many news reporters are outside with a thirst for your blood?" Sebastian asked. "All of them are accusing you of being in another car accident which means we're back at square one with the St. Anthony's debacle."

"Another?" Calista frowned. "I thought everyone agreed I was there to drop off a check for charity. At least that's what we told them."

Sebastian's cold laugh froze her in place. "They might've believed that if you hadn't been in that accident. It's too much of a coincidence for them. Why were you in a car with Adam Hargrove? You talked to him earlier that night. Is something going on with him?"

He had asked her when he first came to visit but Calista avoided answering him. She had turned her head and refused to talk about it.

"Calista, is there something I should know about?" Sebastian's voice was almost cajoling and Calista was tempted to blurt out everything to him.

She wanted to tell him that she wasn't his sister, Calista Dover. That her real name was Calista Hargrove and she was married to Adam Hargrove. She wanted to admit that she was afraid for her life because she thought Adam might've tried killing her the night she ended up at St. Anthony's. A part of her even wanted to share her fears that Calista Dover might also be danger...or worse yet, dead.

"Calista?" Sebastian's eyes narrowed. "Are you okay?"

"I don't remember," she whispered. "I don't remember anything." She was talking about the night of her accident but she knew Sebastian would think she meant everything before her accident. "That's so pathetic, isn't it?"

Sebastian didn't do emotional talk. He cleared his throat and looked at his Rolex. "Calista, we should probably be leaving soon. What's this all about?"

"I want to tell you the truth," she whispered. "I want to but I'm scared."

Sebastian stilled. "The truth?"

"Can I trust you?"

He didn't know what she was going to say, but he nodded. "I'm your brother. If you can't trust family, who can you trust?"

A feeling of apprehension filled her heart, but she ignored it. Calista licked her cracked lips. "The truth is...I'm scared. I feel like someone...someone might be after me."

"Why is that?"

"The accident tonight. Roger said it was caused by a dog. Because Mr. Hargrove swerved to avoid a dog. That's not true."

Sebastian took another step forward. "It's not?"

"No. There was no dog. There was a man who was upset because of St. Anthony's. He had a gun and Ada...I mean Mr. Hargrove swerved and then crashed because of him. When they found us, didn't you the police see him?"

Sebastian was quiet for a few moments before asking, "How many people have you told this to?"

"Just you and Roger."

Sebastian nodded. "That's good. Calista, I'm going to ask you a favor."

She looked up at him expectantly.

"I don't want you to tell this to anyone else for the time being."

"Why? He was there. I'm not making this up. Why would Adam lie about this?"

"Mr. Hargrove said it was a dog?"

Calista shrugged. "I haven't talked to him. It's just what Roger told me."

"Very well. I'll find out exactly what happened. Don't worry, Calista. Just promise me you'll keep this a secret for now."

"Why?"

"I can't explain just yet. I'm going to need you to trust me. As your older brother, I need you to trust me. I need to find out who is telling a lie. Roger or Mr. Hargrove and if you act strangely around either of them, it might put you in danger."

"Danger?"

"When someone lies about a missing person...it's usually because of dangerous reason. Don't you agree?"

Calista frowned and thought of how Sebastian had been looking out for her since the night she was found at St. Anthony's. Overall, he had always been kind to her. He was right. She nodded, "Okay. I'll keep quiet about it but you're going to have to eventually tell me what you discovered."

"I will."

They both walked out of the hospital room and Calista stopped, letting Sebastian take a few steps ahead of her. He turned to her and asked, "What's wrong?"

"Can I ask you a favor as well?"

He gave a slight grin. "Of course."

"Will you...will you promise to protect me no matter what?"

Sebastian turned around to face Calista. "Calista I--"

"I have amnesia. I don't remember things. What if it turns out I'm not as innocent as you think I am?" Calista asked, her voice hoarse. "I know it's pretty bold of me to ask but even if you end up hating me...will you still protect me no matter what?"

"What do you think you need protection from?"

Calista stared at her feet for a few beats before gathering her courage and looking at Sebastian. "Everything."

Sebastian's brows were narrowed together but he nodded. "Of course I'll protect you. I'm your brother."

Detective Mark Jessup was drinking coffee outside the hospital Calista Dover was currently admitted to. His partner, Detective Bree Wade was staring smugly at him.

"Stop staring at me." Mark sighed.

"I'm not staring. I'm just waiting for you to admit that I was right and you were wrong."

Mark rolled his eyes. "It wasn't hard to guess that her brother would pay for the best lawyers to keep her out of trouble."

"I know but you thought he'd let her hang herself to dry. Apparently Mr. Dover does care about his sister no matter how bad her image gets."

"I'm telling you, they're hiding something."

"The captain told us to give this case up, Jessup."

"And you listen to everything he says?" Mark asked. "Her getting into an accident is proof."

"Proof of what?"

"Karma," Mark said. "She was definitely involved in the accident with St. Anthony's and as soon as she so much as sneezes in the wrong direction...I'm going to be there."

Bree shook her head in disgust. "You sound like a deranged stalker. Hurry up and let's go. There are too many reporters to even approach her today. Besides, we got a new case."

"What is it this time?"

"This actually may interest you. There was a body found behind Thirsty's, that old bar on Main street."

"Why would that interest me?" Mark asked.

"Because the victim was also a father of one of the deceased children at St. Anthony's."
