"What did you say?" Adam asked. "Why did I—"

"I should go back." Calista couldn't lift her eyes away from the floor.

"Calista?" Sebastian's voice called out to her.

Calista quickly glanced his way and saw Sebastian standing at the entrance of the break room. He motioned her over, "You're needed at your desk. Hurry back."

"O-of course. I'll be right there," she said softly before leaving the two men alone.

Sebastian smirked. "I keep seeing you hovering around my sister."

"Your sister?"

Sebastian stepped closer to Adam and lowered his voice, "You must be pretty confident in your girlfriend's ability to keep you here. I'll have you know that if I want you gone, Yvonne Barrette won't be able to save you."

"Are you threatening me right now?"

"I'm not sure what your game is but stay away from Calista." Sebastian turned to leave but was stopped by Adam's next question.

"Is she really your sister?"

Sebastian's mouth curled upward in revulsion. "What's that supposed to mean?"

"Isn't she adopted?" Adam asked innocently. "What else would I mean by that?"

Sebastian's hands fisted at his side. "We were raised together. She's my sister."

"Aaahh...of course. I apologize. Of course you wouldn't have feelings for your sister. Even if she's an adopted sister. That would be sick. Again, I apologize."

Sebastian pointed a finger at Adam, "I don't trust you. Do your job and stay away from my sister."

Adam didn't respond. Once he was alone, he frowned and muttered to himself, "Now, what am I supposed to do?"

Detective Bree Wade tapped her fingers against the paper coffee cup in her hands while she watched her partner Mark Jessup open a package he had received at the station. He was cackling to himself and Bree shook her head in disgust.

"Did you order porn from Ebay again?" Bree asked, earning her a frown from Mark. "Please don't tell me it's more football junk." She pointed to the miniature helmets he had decorating his desk.

"No, it's something better." Mark grinned. "I know a guy who knows a guy who knew Calista Dover."

"Knew?"

"Knows," Mark corrected himself. "Anyway, she was a party girl, right?"

"Yes, why?"

Mark looked around before pointing to the box on his desk, "Well that guy's sister and our party girl stayed together for a few months before the St. Anthony's incident."

"Now it's an incident?" Bree muttered.

"What was that?" Mark asked distractedly.

"Nothing. So this guy of a guy's sister knows Calista Dover. So what?"

"So she left behind some stuff at her place. She tried calling the Dovers but got the cold shoulder. So she was happy to turn them over to yours truly."

"You're like the cat that ate the canary," Bree said. "I hope there's something good in there for you."

"There's got to be," Detective Jessup said as he lifted the lid of the box. "Things don't happen like this for no reason. It's ordained to happen." He shuffled through the contents and lifted a small pink notebook. "Bingo!"

"What is that?"

Mark wiggled his eyebrows before opening the small notebook. A smile spread across his face. "This can't be a coincidence."

"What can't be?"

"Do you remember that guy I asked you to look up?" Mark asked. "The one in the accident with Calista Dover?"

"The lawyer?" Bree scrunched up her nose. "Yeah. He was clean. Well, his wife disappeared without a trace but she left him."

"There was something else bigger than that," Mark reminded her.

"That his wife's name was also Calista? That's strange but not totally unheard of. It doesn't mean he and Calista Dover are involved. They both said she just hitched a ride with him that night."

"I would agree...except for this." Mark held up the pink notebook which had a few names written on the first page.

"This was Calista Dover's notebook?" Bree asked just to be sure.

"Yes."

"I can't believe I'm admitting this...but I think you might be right, Jessup."

The both stared at Calista Dover's notebook.

Circled on the front page was Adam Hargrove's name.
