—————————————————————————————————

Adrien's POV:

Emma was acting strange as we walked to my house; I didn't like it. The tension between us was so thick you could cut it with a knife. I wanted to say something, anything that would get us talking again. I hated the silence.

"Emma-."

"Adrien-."

We said in unison. I chuckled.

"No you go-."

"No you go-."

We did it again.

"Okay, I'll just speak-."

"Okay, I'll just speak-."

Even I was getting a little irritated at this point.

"Would you just stop a second!" Emma spoke. The lack of amusement in her voice. Upon seeing herself lash out; she apologised. "Sorry, I." She looked down. I knew she didn't want to finish her sentence and she didn't have to. Her brother was clearly on her mind and she was upset by it.

"It's okay, you don't have to apologise." I said, hopefully giving her comfort. I think it worked because she gave me a sweet smile. Closing her eyes and trying to stop crying.

As we proceeded to walk in the rain I tried to edge closer to her with every step. I didn't really know what to say; I mean what would you say to a homeless girl who you've fallen in love with and their brother is in serious pain.

The Louvre wasn't that far from my house so it took us about 15 minutes to get there. We remained silent for the whole walk. It wasn't nice, I felt uncomfortable.

"So," I began as we reached the gate to my house. "This is it." I gestured to my house; nervous as anything. I looked in her direction when I didn't get a response.

She was focused on her phone screen. It was still raining so it was extremely wet but I could still see the bright green bubbles across its surface: a text message. Probably her bother. I deduced. "Emma," I patted her on the shoulder as the gates opened; I had already buzzed for Nathalie to let us in. She jumped

"Sorry, I was.... occupied." She was distant. Contrary to how she was when I met her; something was wrong.

As we walked up the stairs I could already see Nathalie's iron stare. "Adrien , who is this?" She inquired.

"This is Emma, the girl I told father about." I linked my arm with hers in a sudden movement. It felt natural somehow; like someone was judging her so I had to support her. Act professional. I reminded myself. "We have a Dinner scheduled with my father."

Nathalie's stare hardened; Emma still looking down at her phone. "I'm sorry Adrien, but that might have to be postponed. He is very bus—."

"With all due respect." Emma looked up at Nathalie for the first time. "I'm aware you're just doing your job but for a father and a son to have a successful relationship there has to be a mutual bond of trust. When one of them breaks a promise that trust is weakened. Adrien here," she placed a hand on my shoulder. "is very patient with his father but if he keeps on neglecting his son it won't be long before that trust broken completely and neither of them would want to see each other again." It wasn't entirely true; but it wasn't false either. I did feel like my father had been neglecting me and each time he did I felt like it was my fault.

Completely stunned I shot Nathalie a questioning look. Can we still have dinner? I wanted to ask.

Answering my non-existent question Nathalie spoke "I suppose he could make it work, just this once." She looked defeated, letting us both inside . She trotted to the left, to get my father from his office whilst I guided Emma. Oh Emma. To the dining hall.

                                                                     ***

As we sat down, I felt like I had to say something. "Hey," I whispered loudly.

"Huh!" She looked up abruptly from her phone. "Yeah," she responded just as "quietly".

"What you said, it was really..." I paused, ready for the blood rush that was going to emerge on my cheeks. "It was really intelligent, and....you know, amazing." I could feel the heat rushing to my cheeks.

Before I could say anything else my father came through the door. We both sat in silent as he took his seat. I wish I could tell you what was happening in Emma's brain; she looked both disgusted and impressed with my father- though I'm not sure why.

Emma's POV:

I was both DISGUSTED and IMPRESSED with this man. I'm disgusted by the fact he was going to break a promise with his own son and I'm impressed by the fact that he acts like doesn't seem to care. "Hello, miss." He said.

"Hello, sir." I responded nervously. I felt adrien's hand squeeze mine from under the table. I pulled away. I felt him tense up beside me, after my cold rejection of hand holding so I patted his thigh to show him I cared.

"I understand your name is Emma, correct." He spoke in a cold, monotone voice.

"Yes, that's true. Emma Agretsuko."

"I didn't ask for last names." He abruptly spoke. I looked down, I was nervous, Adrien was nervous and I knew my Grandfather was unforgiving. One wrong move and you're gone! He's better now, but my parents told me- my father normally- how cold he could be regarding other people close to Adrien. He took a deep breath and exhaled. "Adrien, why is miss Agretsuko so important to you?" He questioned

Adrien blushed, could see it. "She... um.. hasum... veryprettyeyes." He stuttered. It was a little cute but not in a way that meant I liked him. How weird would that be!

"What does Emma want here." He clarified "Why have you organised this meeting?"

He was full of questions that I didn't like. He was stony and could make anyone feel uncomfortable if he needed to. "Can... she um... stay here. For a while"

Gabriel face twisted. "You mean, let a random girl stay in my house for what! A couple week! Months! Do you even know how long." He was angry, I could tell.

His anger only fed mine. I slapped one of my hands on the table. No-one should talk to their son like that, for asking a simple question. "MR AGRESTE!" I yelled; slapping one of my hands on the table enforcing silence amongst everyone. "I WONT STAY FOR LONG BUT ME AND MY TWO SIBLINGS ARE IN NEED! ARE HOME BURNT TO THE GROUND AND WE HAVE NO-WHERE ELSE TO GO! ADRIEN IS THE KINDEST BOY I'VE MET TO LET US EVEN HAVE A CHANCE AT FINDING A PLACE TO STAY. PLEASE DON'T KICK US OUT ON THE STREETS. I can't...." I wanted to break down but I stayed strong. "I can't let another member of my family get hurt.... please." My voice breaking. "Please... I care about my family more than anything, without my parents I've felt like I have to be responsible for everything, I've become the parent. From one "parent" to another, please let us stay."

Nothing prepared me for what he said next. "Nathalie.... I believe our guest has overstayed her welcome. She is clearly violent and going to be a bad influence on my son"

 I was fuming.

I had really tried to be nice to this man but I had had it!

"Adrien , could you leave the room for just one minute." I said as sweetly as possible. I soon as I heard the door close behind him I slammed my hands down on the table.

"Listen hear Mr Agreste, I have tried so nicely for your hospitality but you deny my a place in your MANSION because what, I'm going to be a bad influence on your son? I've done more for him in 1/2 a day than you've done for him since your wife 'disappeared'." Then it hit me.....

I knew who this man was....

I knew his deepest darkest secret....

I wasn't one for blackmail...

But this time I had no choice.

OOOO. CLIFFHANGER!

YOU LIKE THE CHAPTER? THX, I WORKED HARD ON IT.

1434 WORDS, DAM....IM SHOOK

TILL NEXT TIME MY DEVILLED EGGS!
