Joseph walked quickly towards the school's gates after he noticed Y/n behind him. He didn't want a scene to occur in front of his classmates, especially after school when everyone was leaving.

"Why have you been ignoring me? Joseph! I'm talking to you!" Y/n followed after him while he tried to ignore her.

It had been a few days since Joseph's realization, and he had been trying to avoid her at all costs.

He outpaced her, walking far ahead. He didn't know whether to speak or to keep silent to prevent saying something he'd regret.

Joseph's brain clouded as he thought of everything he could say to get her off his back. The last thing he wanted to do was say something hurtful, and have her hate him for the rest of his days.

Bystanders watched as she grabbed his arm and forced him to face her. "You like me and then suddenly hate me? I've been trying to talk to you for days!" She exclaimed wildly.

Joseph had always found some type of excuse to avoid her, whether it was studying or running errands for some friends.

He refused to respond, opting to twist away from her grip and continue walking. She began to walk beside him, trying to talk about his erratic behavior.

They had finally left campus, although they got odd looks from their classmates. Joseph guessed that they thought they were bickering as usual.

He was beginning to get tired of the one-sided argument.

He turned around and stopped, grabbing her by the arms.

"Look, it was a mistake to start liking you. We can't even be together in public. You should be with a guy who can be proud of you." He sighed, putting his hand on his forehead exhaustedly.

Y/n pushed slightly away from him with a betrayed look. "I want you, and only you. There has to be some other reason you don't want this anymore."

He didn't want it to come to this point, but there was no other option. She was definitely unhappy with this situation.

He held himself back before starting to speak. "I didn't want to tell you, but there's someone else. I got bored of you." He lied through his teeth, seeing the expression on her face change from furious to dejected.

"What?" She whispered in a heartbroken tone. They stood in silence as she began to tear up. She thought he was different, but she was unpleasantly surprised.

"I cannot believe you made me believe that you changed! You're the same awful person that I met when school started!" She smacked his chest, pushing him back.

"I really liked you! I thought we'd be together!" She winced as she continued to speak. Joseph struggled to speak, staying at a loss of words.

After a few minutes, her voice died down as she looked disappointedly at him. The tears she was struggling to hold back began to pour down her face.

Y/n couldn't handle seeing him while she cried. She walked off, not sparing a glance back at him.

She covered her mouth as she left, silently sobbing into her hand.

He wanted to speak, to say that it wasn't true, to say that he still wanted her, anything he could've said.

But Joseph watched silently as she left, ignoring the dry feeling in his throat. He hurt everything he ever touched.

His hand hovered over where she pushed him, while he closed his eyes to try and imagine the conversation didn't happen.

After a long walk home, the tears stopped flowing down and all she felt was anger boiling deep inside of her.

She had finally made it to her house, opening the door quickly with her keys.

The lights were off, and the house was clearly empty. Her parents were still on their business trip. She had wished they were there so she could speak to someone about what had happened.

The house felt eerily quiet and dark, so she decided on going upstairs and turning all of her lights on.

Y/n decided on showering so she could feel clean and comfortable. She couldn't process that he had said everything after all of these months.

He always seemed so attentive towards her, it never seemed like he even spoke to another girl. Was she not good enough for him?

She thought about it throughout her entire shower, when she was exfoliating her arms and legs, washing the soap off, brushing her teeth, and all the way to her room.

Y/n changed into her night clothes, just needing something to keep her warm. She looked at herself in the mirror with a disheartening expression before going to her bed.

She sat on her bed with her knees up to her chest, zoning out into the distance. How could he treat her like nothing? Did a switch just flip in his brain?

She wrapped herself in her blanket, lying down and staring off into the distance while her thoughts attacked her internally.

Joseph was definitely feeling terrible, reflecting on the fact that he had messed everything up. He didn't know what was going through his head when he said that.

He would never have talked to other girls while he was with her. She was everything that he needed. He was still reeling from the words that came out of his mouth.

He had been admiring her from afar ever since she came to the school, even though he 'hated' her. He didn't have the space for other girls in his life anyway.

Joseph could only imagine how hurt she was. How could he apologize now? She probably wouldn't even look at him.

He felt like he was just unlucky in love. No matter who he liked, they ended up hating him because he couldn't regulate himself.

He frequently had internal thoughts that he would allow to control himself and the way he acts. He had no sense of control and he had hurt her.

Joseph facepalmed himself as he entered his home. His mother was probably out at some store in the afternoon, so he had the house to himself.

There was a calm silence that he didn't mind. He had hoped his mother wasn't home so he wouldn't have to hear any complaints about him or his eyepatch.

She hated that her son's beauty was ruined by the eyepatch and insisted on a glass eye. He refused wholeheartedly, hating the entire idea.

Joseph was over the arguments about his 'beauty.' He just wanted to be alone while he still could.

He ran upstairs and decided to shower and change out of his clothes.

While showering, he tried to not think about Y/n. It disappointed him to know that he hurt her so badly. He had broken her heart through his own terrible actions.

He opted to sleep shirtless while wearing pajama pants for his bottoms. He just needed to cool down, so he turned his fan on.

Before getting on his bed, Joseph grabbed the photo of him and his dad off his dresser. He stared at the shadows of the photo that he had analyzed thousands of times.

It was the photo with younger him on his father's shoulders. The joy was evident on both of their faces. He missed the times that his father would be there for him.

He had let down another person, he hadn't changed from what he used to be. It felt like the photo looked back at him in hopelessness.

He missed when he had so little to worry about. He traced his hands over the frame, looking at his dad. Would he have been disappointed that he left the situation unsolved?

Joseph placed the photo face down on the dresser, not willing to make eye contact with it. He couldn't feel comfortable after causing so much damage.

He laid on his bed with frustration towards himself. He wished he could take everything back.

The two simultaneously wished for a do-over, but it was clear that what's done is done. There was no coming back from his apparent confession.
