Yza ran to his house, drenched in the freezing cold water. He panted softly as he ran, legs feeling sore and tired as he had P.E earlier today. He found himself panting, hands on his thighs as he pulled out his house keys and unlocked it.

The door made a "click" sound, as Yza saw the dark hallway. His mother was at work. His dad passed away a few years back, and his brother Maxios was with the Military. He switched on the light, and with a "flick" sound, the room illuminated and looked like home.
"Afterschool snack is in the microwave. Dinner is in the fridge, and you oven cook it for 30 minutes, ok Yza?
I'll be back home soon, and I expect you to do your homework and be in bed by 9!

Yza looked at the note in the living room. He opened the microwave and saw pizza pockets. He started to heat them up as Yza took the deck he found, placed it on his living room table, and had a quick shower and put on some clean clothes on. He rushed downstairs and opened the microwave.

"Smells good." He said with a grin on his face, sitting on the couch and eating it. He looked at the deck every so often. "Vanguard... Why does that sound so familiar?" He thought, as he scarfed down the rest of his food. He grabbed the deck and looked through it. It looked extremely similiar to something he said before. He couldn't shake off that feeling. He wrote down a note and put on his coat, grabbing the deck and running to the card shop that Ayaza normally goes to.

Meanwhile, at Card Capital 2, a bluey-black haired boy was playing vanguard.
"Now, Legion, and seek mate!!" Ayaza explained, his dark blue eyes shining with determination, school clothes slightly wet still. He normally wore a blue jacket, sleeves a orange colour, and a black t-shirt underneath. That accompanied his black trousers and light blue and white trainers. "Crimson, Legion with Vermillion!!"
The boy that faced Ayaza shook with fear, as he saw the dragons stare at him intensely.
"Legion attack at your whole front row!! LIMIT BREAK!!" Ayaza exclaimed. The boy looked at his damage. 3 damage to Ayaza's 4. He could take the hits.
"No guard!!" The boy replied, trying hard not to stutter. He placed his front row rear-guards into the drop zone and held tightly to the top card of his deck.
"Twin drive!" Ayaza exclaimed, flipping the top card. "Yes, Plasma Dance Dragon, a Critical! Power to my left Chatura (11000 > 16000), critical with vanguard! (1★ > 2★) Second! (Yellow Gem Carnbuncle) a critical! Critical with vanguard, (2★ > 3★), power to right Chatura! (11000 > 16000) Take 3 damage!!"
The boy flipped the top 3 cards of his deck. (Gold Rutile, Screaming and Dancing Announcer, Shout, Battleraizer)
"I lost..." He said in a sad tone.
"Hey, look up." Ayaza said. "Your still new at the game. One day you'll beat me."
"You think?!" He exclaimed.
"Yep." Ayaza smiled. The boy ran to get some packs. Yza walked in. "Yza? Nice seeing you here."
"Hey Ayaza. Do you know where the manager is?" Yza asked.
"Shin? He isn't here right now, but Kamui is here." Ayaza replied.
"Kamui?" Yza asked.
"Oh, the spiky black haired kid who's wearing an orange apron and a white shirt." Ayaza said, pointing to Kamui.
"Him. Oh, ok then, thanks man." Yza said. He approached Kamui.
"Hey there! Never seen you before. You must be new." Kamui said.
"I'm not here to be nice," Yza growled. He put down the deck. "I'm here to give you this. It isn't mine, and it fell out of the sky. Someone probably dropped it and its searching for it. If you see them, give this."
Kamui picked up the deck and looked through it. "Limit Break huh? What clan is this?" He questioned.
"I don't know," Yza said.
Kamui looked at the bottom corner. "Stardust Knight? Another new clan? Man, first it was Gear Chronicle, and now this. Let me check if this is official." He scanned the deck, and it came up with 4 stars. "Its... An actual item!!"
"Well whoever has it must be lucky. I'm gonna go now." Yza said.
"No, wait!" Kamui said.
"What?" Yza asked.
"Ayaza!" Kamui cried.
"Whats up?" Ayaza asked, going up.
"Could you show him how to play vanguard? I want him to keep this deck." Kamui asked.
"Sure. Yza!" Ayaza smiled.
"Yes?" Yza responded.
"Keep it. Its yours." Ayaza said, handing him the deck.
"Why do I need this?" Yza asked.
"Because I'm gonna show you how to play vanguard!" Ayaza grinned.
Yza's eyes opened wide for a second. "Thats where I've heard it from. From Ayaza..." He thought.

Ayaza and Yza ran to a fight table. Ayaza showed him a white box.
"This is a Fighters Counter. Or FiCa, for short." Ayaza explained, plugging it in. "Your an official cardfighter when you have this. Of course, since you don't have one, I can only choose where we're fighting."
"Ok then..." Yza said, looking through his deck.
"Hmm... This'll do nicely." Ayaza said to himself, picking the Dragon Empire's land. "Yza, are you ready?"
"Ready as I'll ever be." He said slightly joking.
"Ok! Now, in Vanguard, imagination is key. We are on the planet Cray, a world much similiar to ours. We are currently spirits on this world." Ayaza explained.
"Right." Yza replied.
"Look through your deck for a grade 0, preferably one without a box in the corner." Ayaza said.
"Okay then," Yza replied, picking out one.
"Good. Place it face down here," Ayaza pointed, pointing at the vanguard circle.
"Right." Yza said.
"Now, that card we just placed down is the vanguard. That's us." Ayaza smiled.
"So that's me?" Yza said in a slighyly surprised tone.
"Yep. And when the game starts, our spirit takes the form of that card." Ayaza said. "Now, take the rest of your cards and shuffle it. That is your deck."
"Okay then," Yza said, shuffling his deck. "What now?"
"Place it here, in the deck zone." Ayaza said. "Then, draw the top 5 cards of your deck. That is your starting hand. Make sure that your opponent can't see it, or they get an advantage."
"Alright." Yza said, taking the top 5 cards.
"Now, in your hand you would want a grade 1, 2 and 3. Another helpful tip is to reshuffle tje grade 0's with boxes in the corner. Anways, if you don't have a hand that you want, you can reshuffle, also known as a mulligan, once. Take cards that you don't want, and shuffle it back into your deck, then re draw the same amount of cards you shuffled back. Got that?" Ayaza explained.
"Yep." Yza said. He shuffled back a grade 2 and a grade 0.
"Are you ready to begin?" Ayaza asked.
"Yes!" Yza exclaimed.
"Take our face down card and flip it face up! And say it with me! Stand up, the, vanguard!!" Ayaza shouted, flipping over the top card.
"S-stand up vanguard!" Yza said nervously.

On Cray, a orange dragon with armour appeared, and across him was a boy in armour and he used a bow as a weapon.

"Lizard Soldier, Saishin (5000)!" Ayaza exclaimed. The vanguard circle glowed orange-red.
"Starkid Archer (6000)!" Yza said. The vanguard circle glowed white with a hint of light blue.
"I'll go first to explain the turn to you. That ok?" Ayaza asked.
"Sure, show me what you got!!" Yza said.
"Alright then. To start your turn, choose any rested units, which are shown as they are horizontal, and stand them, the vertical way. Since our vanguards are currently standing, we skip this phase, and proceed to the next phase. Then, choose the top card of your deck and add it to hand. That's known as a draw. This happens durinh the draw phade. Now, I go to the ride phase. I choose a card from my hand which is a grade equal or higher then my current vanguard, and place it on top. Ride, Red River Dragoon (8000)! Then, my starting vanguard has a special skill known as forerunner. I can call it to a rear circle, the circles the surrond the vanguard, and call it there! I call, Lizard Soldier, Saishin (5000)! Then, its the main phase. We can use act skills and call cards to rear-guard to support our vanguard. We can only have up to 5 rear guards. The rule is that we can only call rear-guards that are a grade equal or lower then our current vanguard. I call Red River Dragoon (8000)." Ayaza said.

The dragon was replaced by a boy with green-blonde hair with a lance like weapon and red armour. The dragon appeared behind him, and another boy that looked like Red River appeared.

"Now, its the attack phase!" Ayaza said. Yza flinched. "But since I'm going first, I can't attack." He sighed as Ayaza said, "With that, I declare my turn officialy over. Your go."

"Ok then. I draw. Then I ride Shooting Starmecha, Infinifire (7000). And I call Starblade Shooter (8000) behind my vanguard. Now its my attack phase." Yza said.

A stardust mecha replaced the child on the field, and a boy with a gun and sword in hand appeared.

"To attack, turn your cards sideways. Choose a front row unit you'd like to attack, and declare your attack on it. Grade 1 and 0's can booost attacking units, and their power goes to them." Ayaza said.
"Okay then, with a boost from Starblade Shooter, my vanguard attacks your vanguard I guess (15000)." Yza said.
"Alright. Vanguards have a special ability known as a "Drive Check". When they attack, you can flip over the top card of your deck and see what it is." Ayaza said. "When you attack, I have the choice to guard with a card in my hand thats the same grade or lower then my current vanguard. For this attack I wont guard."
"Alright, my drive check." Yza said, flipping over the top card (True Starknight of Seventh Battalion). It had a red box in the corner.
"You revealed a draw trigger. Give 5000 power to a unit and draw a card." Ayaza said.
"Power to vanguard (150000 > 20000) and draw." Yza said.
"The revealed card from the drive check is added to hand. Then, since my vanguard has been hit, I reveal the top card of my deck and place it into my damage zone. This a damage check. Triggers can be activated here." Ayaza said. He flipped the top card. (Dragonic Kaiser Crimson) "Just Crimson."

The mecha shooted a spray of blue bullets at the boy, and he was hit badly.
"Are you ok?!" Exclaimed the boosting Red River.
"I'm fine. Their no pushovers..." He said weakly.
"We'll just have to destroy their army." Saishin responded. They nodded in agreement.

"And thats my turn." Yza said.

"Now that you got the grip of the game, I'm not gonna hold back!! Fyi, to win, get your opponents damage to 6. Lets go, I ride Thunderstorm Dragoon (10000) and call Chatura (8000)! He has a cont skill which gives him 3000 power always during my turn! (11000) Next with a boost from Saishin, Chatura attacks! (16000)" Ayaza exclaimed.

Red River was replaced with a older looking version of him, and he rode a dragon. A red dragon with a lance with a sword blade at the end which sparked lightning appeared, and he slithered foward to attack the mecha.

"No guard!" Yza said. "Damage check (Starflinging Catapulter) No trigger."
"Alright, skill activated. I counterblast 1, which means flipping face down a face up card in my damage zone to activate certain skills. By counterblasting 1, I get to draw a card." Ayaza said. "Now my vanguard attacks! (18000)"
"No guard!" Yza replied.
"Drive check! (Demonic Dragon Nymph, Seiobo) A heal trigger! Heal triggers are indicated by a green symbol. An added 5000 Power to vanguard (23000) and if I have equal or more damage then you when I reveal the trigger, I can choose a card in my damage zone and heal it!" Ayaza exclaimed.
"What?!" Yza said in shock. Ayaza placed the card in his drop zone.
"This here is the drop zone. This is where retired rear-guards and guardians go, along with healed damaged." Ayaza said.
"Okay then. Damage check! (Bashful Starstriker) No trigger either." Yza said.
"And with that I end." Ayaza said.

"Alright, I stand and draw. Ride, Bashful Starstriker (10000)! Then I call Speeddust Dragon to rear-guard along with Cargocarrier." Yza said.

The mecha was replaced with a knight who held a beatstick in his hand. A dragon appeared next to him, and behind was a horse that carried a large wooden crate.

"My vanguard starts the attack, with a boost from Starblade Shooter! (18000)" Yza declared.
"No guard." Ayaza said.
"Drive check! (True Starknight of Seventh Battalion) A blue box?" Yza asked.
"A stand trigger. Give 5000 power to one of your rested units that isn't your vanguard, and stand them." Ayaza said. "Since you use stand triggers, a good idea is to attack with your rear-guards first, then attack with your vanguard as you may reveal a stand like this."
"Oh. I stand my vanguard's booster." Yza said dissapointed. "Power to Speeddust Dragon. (9000 > 14000)"
"Damage check! (Dragonic Kaiser Vermillion "THE BLOOD") Aww, just him." Ayaza said.
"Now, with a boost from Cargo, Speeddust attacks your vanguard! (29000)" Yza said.
"No guard. Damage check, (Old Dragon Mage) a draw trigger. Power to vanguard (10000 > 15000) and I draw." Ayaza said.
"Alright! With that, I end." Yza said.

"I'll show you the way how a true vanguard player fights..." Ayaza said.
"Alright then?" Yza said, slightly confused, and flinched when Ayaza exclaimed,
"A catastrophe that cannot be undone, a crimson attack that can't be stopped!! Ride my avatar!! Dragonic Kaiser Crimson!!" The vanguard circled became crimson and expanded. "Meet the endless thunder of the Narukami!!"

A bright blue lightning struck Thunderstorm, surronding him as he transformed. First, red arms shot out the sides, and large legs came from the underneath. A dragon's head peeked out, and the lightning cleared and turned into two weapons as green lightning surronded the dragon.

"Your time has come, Yza." Ayaza said in a menacing voice. "Call, Thunderstorm. Now, with a boost from Saishin, Chatura attacks! (16000)" Ayaza said.
"No guard! Damage (Fullforce Startactian) Just that." Yza said.
"Skill of Saishin! Counterblast 1, and him into soul, retiring your Cargocarrier! Then Chatura's skill, counterblast 1, I draw and bind that grade 0!" Ayaza exclaimed. "The bind zone is beside the drop zone."
"Damn." Yza mumbled, placing the bound card into the bind zone.
"Now, with a boost from Red River, my vanguard attacks!! (19000)" Ayaza declared.
"Damn it... What is a card with 0 shield gonna do?! Wait, its effect!" Yza thought. "Stopped with Cataclysm Shieldkid! His skill, discarding a card (True Starknight of Seventh Battalion) to stop your attack!" Yza said.
"The perfect guard huh? Fine by me. Grade 3's have a special ability which isn't boost. Its Twin Drive!! You can perform two drive checks!" Ayaza smirked.
"D-double the chance of getting a trigger?!" Yza stammered.
"Yep. Twin drive! First (Dragonic Kaiser Crimson) and second (Yellow Gem Carbuncle) a critical trigger!" Ayaza cheered. "Critical triggers are the yellow box. They give 5000 Power to a unit and an extra critical. Critical is how much damage you do to a vanguard, so with this you can deal extra damage! All effects to Thunderstorm! (10000 > 15000) (1★ > 2★) Now he attacks!"
Yza flinched and said, "No guard! Damage check... First (Starshooting Elf) and second (Speeddust Dragon) no trigger on either." Yza said.
"5 out of 6 damage. Your done for." Ayaza smirked. "Your turn."

Yza shook in fear, and picked up the top card of his deck and a flash of memories came to him, as he closed his eyes. He opened up slowly, he was in the night sky.

"Where am I?" He asked.
"Cray." Replied a voice.
"Who's there?!" Yza cried.
"Me, your avatar. Shooting Star Dragon." The blue dragon with emerald green eyes appeared.
"S-shooting Star D-dragon?!" Exclaimed a shocked Yza.
"You shocked?" He asked, chuckling.
"Y-yes." Yza replied.
"You shouldn't be, my vanguard." Shooting Star said, holding out his hand. "Please, accept me with you." Yza reached out his hand and flinched.
"S-should I?" Yza asked himself.
"You accept me, a new future shall be shown for you." Shooting Star said.
Yza hand touched the dragon. "I accept you." He smiled. A bright light shot through Cray.

"Yza? Earth to Yza? Hello?" Ayaza asked, clicking his finger.
"Huh?" Yza said.
"Its your turn." Ayaza replied.
"R-right. Shootdown my opponents with a endless star attack!! Ride my avatar! Shooting Star Dragon!!" Yza exclaimed, slamming down the card, the vanguard circle expanding as it became a light blue.

The knight became submerged in a white light, wings sprouted from him, and his head became long and emerald green eyes shone as his body became a dragon's.
"Bow down before the star!" Shooting Star Dragon roared.

"Now, my vanguard attacks with a boost from Starblade Shooter! (19000) And now I'll activate... His... LIMIT BREAK!!" He shouted, a light blue vanguard circle span on top of the card, and the 5 cards in his damage zone shone a bright white.
"I-I didn't t-teach him about Limit Break!! H-how does he know?!" Thought a shocked Ayaza.
"Counterblast 2, discarding a grade 3! Shuffling back 3 cards in my drop zone into deck!! Then, revealing the top 3 cards of my deck and call any grade 1 and higher cards to open rear guards! First (Mage of Stardust), second (Starblade Shooter) and third! (Fullforce Startactian) Alright, I call all of them!" Yza smirked.
"You refilled your formation just like that..." Ayaza said shocked. "Perfect guard with Anastasia! Dropping Yellow Gem Carbuncle!"
"Twin drive!! First! (Twinkick Starknight) A critical! All effects to Speeddust Dragon! (9000 > 14000) (1★ > 2★) And second! (Stardust Medic) A heal trigger! Healing a point of damage, power to Startactian! (9000 > 14000) Next up, with a boost from Mage, Speeddust attacks! (23000) 2 Critical!" Yza said.
"No guard, damage check! (Red River Dragoon, Demonic Dragon Beserker, Chatura) No trigger." Ayaza said.
"Now, with a boost from Starblade Shooter, Startactian attacks! (22000)" Yza said.
"Guard with Seiobo and Plasma Dance. (11000 > 31000)" Ayaza replied.
"Grr... End." Yza said.

"Final turn." Ayaza declared. Yza flinched from that. "Stand and draw. Pair up and surge, show me the true thunder!! LEGION!!! And seek mate!! When I Legion, shuffling back 4 cards from the drop zone into the deck and search for my mate, and Legion!! Dragonic Kaiser Vermillion (22000)!!" Ayaza shouted. A Legion symbol apppeared between the dragons.
"T-two vanguards?!" Yza exclaimed.
"And a base power of 22000." Ayaza laughed. "Skill! Soulblast 2, and give itself 4000 power! (26000) Next up, I call Crownholder Dragon. With a boost from Red River, my vanguard attacks!! (34000) LIMIT BREAK!!" A crimson vanguard circle appeared ontop of the two cards and spun around. The 4 cards in his damage zone shone a bright white. "Attacking your whole front row!!"
"What?! P-perfect Guard my vanguard!" Yza stammered, retiring his front two rear-guards.
"Crownholder's skill kicks in! When my Kaiser vanguard attack hits, itself and another unit gets 2000 power! Since I retired 2 rear-guards, add 4000 power to itself and Chatura! (11000 > 16000) (7000 > 11000) Twin Drive!! First! (Plasma Dance Dragon) a critical! All effects to Chatura! (16000 > 21000) (1★ > 2★) and second! (Yellow Gem Carbuncle) Another Critical! All effects to Chatura! (21000 > 26000) (2★ > 3★) Now with a boost from Crownholder, he attacks the vanguard!! (37000, 3★) 3 Critical!" Ayaza exclaimed.
"T-three?!" Yza exclaimed. "N-no guard. Damage check... (Mage of Stardust, Shooting Star Dragon, Cataclysm Shieldkid) You win..."
"Haha, you did well still. What do you think of Vanguard?" Ayaza asked.
"I didn't like it... I... LOVED IT!!" Yza cheered.
"Thats good. You going to continue playing?" Ayaza asked.
"Hell yeah!!" Yza said exictedly.
"Well then, good luck in the future." Ayaza smiled.
"I'll beat you one day!!" Yza grinned.
"You wish," Laughed Ayaza.
