"We had many tragic losses today. Sootmouth, Snowwater, Mushjaw, and I won't lie, I lost a life myself," Sharpstar sighed,"And now it is time for close ones to speak for them,"
Spongestorm, who had stayed silent, whispered something that no-one cpould make out. Her sister Geckowish, who lay wounded outside of the elder's den, nudged her gently.
"I forgive you, Sootmouth,"she meowed quietly, and the Clan shot her sympathetic looks, which she would only ever sense, and some shot glares in Ashpaw's direction. She wasn't bothered. As sad as it was that Spongestorm's love had accidentally blinded her, she preferred the idea of a tragically cursed kit's birth causing death and destruction. For a few moments, the Clan fell into an awkward silence, then Bigpaw spoke up,"I couldn't have asked for a better mentor. You were the greatest. Thank you, Sootmouth,"
Ashpaw gave the younger apprentice an approving nod, which she acknowledged with a slow blink.
The night wore on, and when the funerals were finally over, Sharpstar moved on, a more cheerful note in his voice to the ceremonies.
"Redleg,"he glanced towards the elderly she-cat,"Does Ashpaw have the right to become a warrior?"
Redleg hesitated a moment before mumbling,"She does,"
"Then Ashpaw... and Bigpaw step forewards,"
Ashpaw obeyed eagerly, hoping for a cool name like Ashscar, or Ashstorm. Ashscar was a bit of a tongue twister, but at least she'd get entertainment when someone called to her.
"I call upon my warrior anscestors to look down on these apprentices-" StarClan won't be watching.-"They have trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code-" Oh but has she? -" And I commend them as warriors in their turn. Ashpaw, Bigpaw do you you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend this Clan, even at the cost of your lives?"
"I do,"Ashpaw meowed, knowing the words wouldn't be so empty if she were talking about AshClan.
"I do!"Bigpaw squeaked, then her tail bristled in embarrassment. The Clan let out murmures of amusement.
Smiling, Sharpstar continued,"The I give you your Warrior names. Ashpaw, you will from now on be known as Ashwing. StarClan honours you for your cunningness and skill in battle.
Bigpaw, you will from now on be known as Bigwing in favour of your kindheart and willingness to take anyone under you wing,"
"Bigwing! Bigwing!" The Clan didn't chant Ashwing's name, but she didn't care.
She raised her tail in triumph, not noticing the the bleeding scars on her chest and face.

I have to sit vigil tonight. she recalled. Which means I can't see the Dark Forest cats.
Especially Hickorypelt.

                             * * *

Beside her, Bigwing had her eyes closed, but the way she vibrated in excitement showed that she was awake.
Ashwing sat in silence, glowering at the edges of camp. Then, a black and red glow shone in front of her. She shoved her tail in her mouth to keep herself quiet. Three cats, all black with red glowing eyes and scars across their chests. The first one's right eye was missing. The second one, who was the only female, had a fringe and scars over her right eye whilst the last one had dark grey on his nose, right ear and right cheek.

They had sharp teeth and no noses.
One-eye, Violetslash and Hickorypelt?
"Yes it's us!"the front one meowed. Ashwing shot a cautious look at Bigwing; she hadn't noticed anything.
What the hell is that appearence?
"This is how we appear unless we come down for a battle,"One-eye explained,"Anyway, we have more to deal with!
You went against the plan again today. Why would you kill Snowwater?"
Ashwing set her face in a solemn expression. One-eye, did death remove your brain? We are not waiting four seasons. You don't know what could happen before then. Greencough, suspicions, visions.
It was amazing that One-eye manadged to sniff when he didn't have a nose,"I suppose so, but even if that's true, we need..."
Ashwing stopped listening as Hickorypelt met her gaze; even when those eyes were red and demon-like, they were still striking and expressionful.
She realised Violetslash and One-eye were staring at her.
Uh...huh?
Violetslash rolled her eyes; she could obviously sense their chemestry, "Honestly Ashwing if Hickorypelt keeps distracting you, we'll move onto BraidClan with Bigwing's brother,"
She glared at the she-cat.
"Aaaaaanyway. We need more recruits, and they need to be trustworthy,"One-eye meowed.
Hmm... we could start training kits. If they train from childhood they won't know the difference between right and wrong.
"Yes, but you're more patient than I am. First we need more births, then we need to wait for their strengths to come,"
"Why don't you and Hickorypelt make some new recruits?"
Ashwing retched her head over to Violetslash. Was she ever going to leave it alone?
But Violetslash's eyes were solemn and sad; she realised it must cost her a great deal of heartache to see what she'd given up to be what she was between her companions.
Ashwing sighed in her head, Seriously, Violetslash? We need to be real here! she snapped, suppressing the sympathy.
"Well just think about it!"Hickorypelt interrupted. All heads snapped rowards him,"Th-the new recruit bit,"
With a slight smile, One-eye almost purred,"Well we'll meet you back there,"
He and Violetslash disappeared.
"Ashwing?"
Ashwing shook as she faced Hickorypelt.
"Ashwing...you'll think this is creepy but I..."he began,"I like you,"
In shock, she was silent for a second, then Hickorypelt burst out,"I knew it! You hate me! Ahh! I must've loomed so stupid," He did a face-paw,"Sorry, I-"
I like you too.
"Huh?" Was he blushing? "R-really? Really?"
Yes. I like you.
"Great! Well then, maybe we could..."
Yes. Yes.
"Amazing!" He was blushing! "Well then...uh...bye..."
And he dissolved into nothingness.

995 words! *Wipes sweat off face*
