Bigwing smiled as Braidpaw approached with his new mentor and deputy, Crystalfur.
"Hey Ashwing, Bigwing. Dawn patrol?"he asked.
She opened her mouth to agree, then she remembered she shouldn't speak.
Slamming her jaws shut, she nodded eagerly.
Crystalfur laughed,"You can speak, Bigwing,"
"O-okay!"she exclaimed, ears spiking up. In the forest, all was quiet.
Crystalfur was talking to Braidpaw about the flaws he'd experienced in yesterday's rat attack, whilst Bigwing and Ashwing hung back awkwardly.
"So. Uh. Do you like being a warrior?" She asked the small warrior after a long, uncomfortable silence.
"Eh. It's cool,"Ashwing whispered. She seemed distracted,"You?"
"Yeah. I like it,"
"That's nice,"Ashwing sniffed the air.
"Now, go to the back with the others," Crystalfur told Braidpaw. He waited for them to catch up, then departed again.
Bigwing, her brother who wasn't a warrior although he was the same age as her, and Ashwing, who could be difficult and rude. The dream trio!
They walked along, even more awkward. Then Bigwing braced herself,"I'm sorry you didn't pass yesterday,"
Braidpaw gazed at her, then let out a sigh,"It's okay. You deserve it. To be honest, I'm only annoyed that she became one. That arrogant, bratty fox-heart doesn't deserve a place in this world. Best just kill her, and pray to StarClan not to take her in,"
Bigwing stared at Ashwing in horrified shock; how would the older warrior react to such an outright insult?
Apparently the comossion had jerked her out of her trance. Her eyes were alight with fury, but her voice was calm as she meowed,"Okay then, you can kill me, but remember that StarClan won't take kindly to the cat who killed a Clanmate,"
She darted away.
Braidpaw stared at Bigwing,"What just happened?"
"I think you just got roasted!"Bigwing smiled.
Ashwing returned to their side, left forepaw bloody. She was holding a mouse in her jaws.
Crystalfur suddenly halted,"What..." he meowed,"Is that?"
He was pointing to a den.
It reeked of cat.
