Stupid Bright. Pepper thought as he returned to the den he'd marked with prey. It was a small cave that was sheltered from the wind and had a small cleft in the wall to store prey. There were a few dips in the ground and they could venture outside to collect bedding. The only downside was the smell. It stank of cats, some stale, others unnervingly fresh. He liked the fresh scent of pine, but mixed with oak, dust, fish and mud, it wasn't so nice.
As Pepper returned, he spotted four cats outside of his den, sniffing it with narrowed eyes.
There was a stocky white tom with scars over his nose bridge, a brown tom with new scratches, a brown molly and a small yellow she-cat with scars from her jaw to her nose and from one side of her chest to the other.
"Hey! This is my den!"he shouted angrily.
The four cats stared at him for a moment, then the white tom meowed,"This is-"
"You're invading on ShadowClan territory,"the yellow she-cat retorted.
"Yeah well this is mine. Go find somewhere else,"he snapped.
The cat smiled,"You want to fight for it?"
Pepper stared at her. Was this his challenger? A skinny, tired molly with scars that must have weakened her?
"You look weak,"he hissed.
The female looked sinister when she smiled,"Don't bet on it,"she growled. Then she charged.
She hit him like a rainstorm: unexpected and unwanted. Though rainstorms didn't hurt. This was a flurry of blows, aimed at his head, then his throat, then his legs.
Incruciating pain sliced his nose bridge, and he felt flowing blood pour slowly over his mouth. He opened it to scream, but got a mouthful of blood. Feebly, Pepper swiped a large paw, but either she was too fast or he was too slow. Probably both. His neck.
It was like lightning. It hit him and stunned him. Then his belly. She hit that harder than any force in the world. It sliced him sharper than his hatred or his grief ever had. Pepper collapsed in a gasping puddle of bloody fur.
The cat stood over him. Her yellow fur was streaked with his blood, and the smug, evil grin made his belly throb with fear. And with pain.
"Do you know why you're attacking me? It's because it's what I woild have done! Like father, like son!"his father's words struck him. With hopeless regret, Pepper realised how right Defence had been. I picked a fight I couldn't win...and now I'm going to die.
Bright would never know what happened to him. He closed his eyes and clenched his teeth.
The enemy herself was taking her time, licking blood off her paws, deciding whether to aim for the throat or the belly, and to use her claws or teeth.
When she finally decided she'd rip his throat out with her claws, there was a hoarse cry of horror from behind her, "Ashwing, stop!"
Pepper's eyes flew open. The brown she-cat had lept fowards, staring at the yellow cat-Ashwing-in terror.
"Were you going to kill him?"she sounded sick with outrage.
"Well of course, Bigwing,"Ashwing licked blood from her jaws,"He needs to learn his lession,"
"Look at him!"his brown savior called Bigwing protested,"He's learnt his lession. Let him go!"

Ashwing rolled her eyes, then turned to Pepper,"Go on then. Get out of here,"she meowed.
Pepper hesitated,"My prey-"
"Just leave it,"there was an edge of sinister sweetness in her voice.
He didn't wait to be told again.

The only time the three of them will all meet at once: when Ashwing's trynna rip Pepper's throat out.
