Hiccup's POV

We were walking into the academy and I saw everyone but Snotlout.

"Ugh wherre is Snotlout?" I asked.

"Uh I think he was in the ocean last time I saw him." Alyysa said.

"Why the ocean?"

"He was being annoying so Hookfang dropped him." Allysa laughed. I chuckled slightly.

"Can someone go find him please?"

"I'll go." Astrid said and flew off with Stormfly.

"So anyone going to tell me who Snotlout is? And who you guys are?" Mercy asked as she got off of Toothless.

"Well who's starting." Allysa asked. Everyone looked at her. "So I guess I am. Well, I'm Allysa. Consider me your aunt." She said. Mercy looked at me and I nodded.

"Nice to meet you." Mercy said. I nodded for the next person to move on. Everyone staed silent.

"Am I going to have to introduce everyone?" I said. They nodded.

"Well I'll introduce myself. My name is Fishlegs, I consider myslef Berk's top dragon specialist. After Hiccup of course." Fishlegs said proudly. I nodded at the twins and they just looked at me.

"What? Is there something on Ruffnut's face?" Tuffnut asked.

"No we need to introduce oursleves you idiot." Ruffnut said and punched him in the shoulder.

"I knew that. I just didn't remember." Tuffnut claimed.

"You did not." Ruff sassed. They started beating each other up again. Of course.

"Barf, Belch can you separate them?" I asid. Barf picked up Ruffnut by her shirt and Belch did the same with Tuffnut. "And those are the twins, Ruffnut and Tuffnut." I said and pointed to each of them. As soon as I finishe, Astrid landed with Snotlout.

"Turns out he was annoying Hookfang so he dumped him in the ocean." Astrid said as she removed her hood and climbed off of Stormfly.

"Like always." Allysa added sarcastically. Everyone burst into laughter.

"You guys try having a dragon that's stubborn!" Snotlout said.

"Okay well Mercy that's your unce Snotlout." I said.

"No way am I related to that." She sassed.

"Sadly you are." I whispered.

"Hey I have ears! And feelings." Snoutlout said and crossed his arms.

Mercy's POV

I started to get another headache. Everything came back and as it was coming back, I watched it like a sunset. There were memories of me riding on Toothless or Violet and me watching all of them race. I remember everyone hanging out and learning about dragons but not really listening. I came back to reality and everyone was just staring at me.

"What?" I asked.

"You remember us don't you?" Allysa asked.

"Well I can't say I don't because that would be lying." I said. Everyone laughed.

"I think ths calls for a race. I'll tell Gobber to get the sheep ready." Dad said and flew out on Toothless.

"Who you riding with?" Mom asked.

"I think I might just watch this one." I said and walked over to my dad's chair. Well, throne. WE never replaced Grandpa's, so I only took up a quarter of the seat.

"How much of your memory do you have back?" Grandma asked as she sat in her chair.

"I think all of it. I don't know ask Dad he's keeping track."

Mercy's POV

I was just watching the race in dad's chair when I got lost in thought. And I realized something. Am I supposed to be chief? Or does it have to be the son of the family? I think it's the son of the family. I don't know. I saw the signal that there were no more white sheep, and it was the final lap. I nodded to Gobber.

"LAST LAP!" He shouted. A villager blew the horn and the dragons scrambled around. I saw everyone zoom past my chair, but I was too lost in thought to acknowledge them. Yes I would look up and see how it was going, but then I would just go into my thoughts again. I looked back up right as dad threw the black sheep into his basket. Everyone stood up and cheered, including me, then started to walk back to what they were doing before. I decided to head to the forge and make a few things just to be sure I still knew how to do it.

"What are you doing here by yourself?" Gobber asked when he walked in.

"Just clearing my head and making sure I know how to do this still."

"What are you clearing your head from? You're 9 years old you really shouldn't be worried about anything."

"Well I was just thinking, who's going to be chief after dad? Will it be me or does it have to be a boy?"

"Well according to tradition it's a man. There's never been a woman chief recorded in history." He stated.

"So I won't be chief?" I asked.

"You really shouldn't even be thinking about that yet. Yes your father became chief when he was still young but that doesn't mean he's going to stop being chief earlier. Now quit thinking about that stuff." He said and walked out. He was right, another person would be selected for chief when dads done with it. I sighed a sigh of relief and turned back to my metal, which actually turned into a handle for a bow. But it was made out of metal. I started looking around for flexible metal to make the limbs.

"What are you making with that stuff?" Someone asked from the open window. I looked up and saw a boy who looked my age, with long-ish black hair and blue eyes. Who is this?

"Oh I'm making a new bow. Who are you?" I asked him.

"My name is Ethan. I'm visiting here with my dad and sister. My dad needed to meet the chief of this island and we were forced to come with him." Ethan explained.

"Oh. Well nice to meet you Ethan. I'm Mercy."

"That's a cool name. Do you happen to know who the chief of this island is? My sister and I need to find the house our dad is staying in." He asked.

"Oh yeah he's my dad. Come on I'm sure he's in the Great Hall."

I walked Ethan and his sister through the village. I showed them which buildings were which as we passed them on our way to the Great Hall. They seemed fascinated by all of the dragons. Well, only Ethan. His sister was scared of them. We got to the Great Hall and I pushed the huge doors open. Sure enough, dad was there standing near a rather large man. He seemed a few years older then dad, and much more threatening. I went over and tapped dads shoulder.

"Oh and this is my daughter Mercy." He said and scooted me forward. I waved and smiled.

"Nice to meet you las. I'm Anthony. Chief of the Hawk Tribe. And those are my two children Ethan and Agnes." He said and pointed to the kids behind me. "They're twins."

"Ah I can tell." Dad said. "You need something Mercy?"

"Oh the twins wanted to know where they would be staying." I said.

"That'll be arranged later. How about they hang out with you for a little bit, and I'll have Toothless go with you so when it's time to go home he'll bring you home. Okay?" Dad said.

"Okay." I said and walked towards the door. "Come on Toothless!" I shouted. He came jumping down from a beam and walked to my side. Both Agnes and Ethan screamed. I laughed and kept walking back to the forge. Once we got there, Toothless sat on the beams while I continued to work on my new bow. I found the metal I needed, which was flexible enough to be part of it.

"So why are you using metal for a bow? Aren't they usually made of wood?" Ethan asked as he curiously admired me putting the pieces together.

"It'll be sturdier. Don't get me wrong a wood one does great, but they break easily. I want something that can hold up really well in case of self defense or war." I said.

"Aren't you too young tot think about fighting in a war?" Agnes asked from a stool.

"Depends on your definition of too young." I said. She looked confused.

"Our dad says war is for the grown ups." Ethan said.

"Well you're gonna be a grown up one day. Might as well prepare for it when you can." I said and started melding the pieces together.

"Why are you always thinking about your future? What about thinking about now? Or even the past!" Ethan said excitedly.

"I don't remember my past. I was told I was kidnapped and when I fell into a coma, my memory was wiped clean. So I can't think about the past." I snapped. I took a deep breath and started walking towards the forest with my new finished bow.

"Where are you going?" Ethan called out after me.

"The woods." I said and kept walking. I saw Toothless land next to me.

"Why are you going to the woods?" He asked once he got next to me again.

"To test my bow. Why are you following me everywhere?" I asked.

"Well I'm not going to hang around my sister while there's someone else my age." He said. Toothless looked at him and growled. "Uh is he gonna hurt me..?"

"Not unless he has to. And that's when he's defending someone. So watch what you say around him."

"He can understand us?"

"Mostly. He's picked up certain words because he's lived with humans for so long. He's actually attempted saying a few but it's hard to comprehend." I explained. He gave me this puzzled look. "You don't get it do you."

"Not at all." He said and smiled. We got to the woods and I let Toothless climb into trees and wander around, but he always stayed where he could see me. And especially Ethan. I guess he's sensing something with this kid. I drew back an arrow and fired. The bow shot perfectly. Better then my old one actually. "Impressive." Ethan admired.

"Thanks." I said and shot another arrow. If was getting dark in the woods, so I decided it was time to head home. "Come on we should get back it's going to be really dark soon." I said and whistled for Toothless. He landed by my side and walked next to me all of the way back home.
