I freaking love that fanart!!!

Mercy's POV

I was standing against a wall about 10 feet from the door. I tried to slide and get to the door that was open just a little bit. But it almost seemed impossible. I was dizzy and I couldn't feel the movements I took.

"Why you all the way over there?" The man said with his scratchy voice. I didn't respond, but only slid another inch towards the door, back still pressed against the cold wall. "Don't you try and get away from me little missy."

"I may be little but don't you dare call me missy." I said and used all of my strength to run out the door and slam it shut. I shoved a sliver of metal in the lock and bent the edge that was sticking out.

"Hey you unlock this door right now you worthless little troll!" The man shouted. I just backed away slowly, panting.

"I'd rather not." I said in a dark tone, then turned around and started walking down the hallway.

Hiccup's POV

I heard the door to Mercy's cell slam shut. I tried to listen for any conversation I could hear.

"Hey unlock this door right now you worthless little troll!" The man shouted. I felt rage bubble in me at the fact that he had the guts to say that to my little girl.

"I'd rather not." I heard her reply and she started walking down the hall.

"Thatta girl that's it!" I shouted. She stopped in front of my cage and looked in with a panicked look.

"Dad!" She shouted. "Are you okay? Are you hurt at all?" She asked with a panicked tone.

"No I'm okay. The chains are a little tight but I'll live. Listen I need you to do one thing."

"What is it?"

"Go across the hall and free Toothless. He can break my chains but you have to free him."

"Okay. I need something to unlock the door." She replied.

"Find something, anything really would work these locks are not the best I've seen." I said in a normal tone, making Mercy flash a confused face.

"How can you be so calm right now? You do realize we're in a prison on an unknown island and you're chained to a wall and I feel dizzy." She said in a fast pace.

"This has happened a lot. Wait, you're dizzy?" I questioned. I looked over to the door where she was standing but didn't see her. "Mercy?" I asked. No response. "Mercy?!" I said but louder. I pulled at the chains once more and the flew out of the wall, knocking me off my feet. I quickly scrambled up and to the door. I saw her laying face down on the stone floor, her breathes shallow and short. "Oh gods." I whispered to myself and began looking around for anything to unlock the door.

I looked out the window once more to check on her. She still lay in the same position. I frantically pat my armor to see if they removed the knife. To my surprise, and luck, they were too stupid to take my weapons. Okay seriously this is too easy. I wiggled the knife I the lock until I almost had it. But the handle slipped out of my grip and the knife clanged to the floor. I gripped the bars on the window and studied them. I pulled them toward me and the slipped out of place. I kept pulling until they were completely off the frame and in my hands. I threw them to the floor and climbed through the window. Well I guess there are perks to being a hiccup. I landed on my knees and hands a few feet from the window, and crawled over to where Mercy was. I checked her pulse and it was a slow and faint heartbeat.

"What did you do to her?" I asked the man who she had locked in we cell.

"Oh me? Why I wouldn't hurt that precious little angel." He said in a much different tone then the croaky voice I had heard earlier. "In fact, can you tell me why I'm in the cage of my own dungeon mister?"

"You locked my daughter in there, and she got out and jammed the lock." I explained.

"Oh dear. Well can you get it open? I really can't be in here long the village will wonder where I am."

"What are you trying to pull off? About 10 minutes ago you were evil and you had a raspy voice. Now you're nice."

"To be honest, I think my wife laced my food with something bad. She's done it to other men before. Laced their food so they did the bad things she wanted to do. I've always wanted to bust her for it but the villagers just say there's no evidence. So I've never thrown her in jail." He explained.

"What kind of bad things?"

"Ah horrible things. Murder, kidnapping, basically anything to raise havoc in the village. She once had our army captain burn down our Great Hall." He said grimly. "It was a very dark time. The poor man didn't even remember doing it."

"Well do you think your wife really laced your food with something to make you kidnap us?" I interrogated.

"It's a high possibility."

"What would she want from us?" I asked.

"It's not you she wants something from. It's her." He said and pointed to Mercy. "We sadly lost our little girl two months ago. It was her 10th birthday and we found her stabbed in the woods. My wife and I were so devastated. But it drove her crazy. She was delusional and kept the body upstairs in our daughters room as if she was just sleeping. I finally gave her a proper funeral but my wife has been nuts ever since."

"What does that have to do with my daughter?"

"That I'm not sure of. She could be trying to find a new girl to replace our daughter or she's putting parents through the same pain we went through. But listen, she'll be back down here I can feel it. She always walks down here. Never knew why until now. The keys are over on the hook by the door at the end. Get your daughter and dragon out of here as fast as possible."

"Why are you helping me?"

"Because you two seem like really nice people. And I know you're important cause of that Night Fury." I had a confused look. "Your story has gotten around Hiccup. Trained a Night Fury on Berk, killed the Red Death, defeated Drago Bludvist. Basically every island knows who you are."

"Well I'm honored that I'm known but I have to go. Do you happen to know what Mercy has?"

"It could just be dizziness, or it could be poison. My wife is one for experimenting with potions." Fear coursed through my body as he said poison. I had to get back to Berk and get her to Gothi.

"Which way is Berk from here?" I demanded.

"We're actually your neighboring island. Just head out west for about 30 minutes and you should see it." He said in a friendly tone. "One more thing." He stated. I turned around and looked at him.

"What is it?"

"Could you let me out?" He asked. I walked over and yanked the bent iron out of the lock. "Thank you good sir. I'll go fetch those keys for you. Stay with her." He said and pointed to Mercy as he walked around a corner. I knelt beside her and checked her breaths. They were shakey, almost hesitant. As if she's hesitating whether or not she should take a breath. He came back around the corner with the keys and went to unlock the cage.

"Maybe I should do that." I said and stood up, walking over to where he was.

"Be my guest. I don't want to be attacked by that dragon." He said and handed me the keys, then walked a few feet away. I walked inside and began working on the chains that held his paws and mouth. I then moved to the body and tail, until all of them were on the ground. He grumbled and licked me happily.

"Hi bud I know we can go home now." I said. He sniffed the air then darted outside to where Mercy was laying. He sniffed her arm, then looked at me. I don't know why he was looking at me. He picked her up in his jaw and we started running for the door. I turned around and faced the man. "Thank you. For everything."

"Happy too. Now go while there's still time." He said and I scurried after Toothless. We got outside and we were in a hill. The hill was in a clearing so we could see where we needed to go.

"Do you think you're going somewhere?" A woman asked. She had a black, long robe on and her blonde hair was braided into one long braid on her back.

"Yes I was going home. Any complaints?" I said in a angry tone.

"Yes. That's my daughter. You can't take her that's kidnapping." She said. But before I knew she was on her knees. She had been tripped by something.

"You step away from them right now." Another woman said. She was holding a staff that had small bends on each end. She wore painted armor and a helmet with horns that resembled a dragon. Oh man Mom you really know how to pull off a rescue.

"What are you gonna do about it?" The woman in black said. She grabbed a brown stick that she was carrying.

"Whatever I need to." Mom said and they began to fight. I saw the others land behind where they were fighting. I waved Toothless over to where they were but he wouldn't budge. He waited by where mom and that woman were fighting.

"Toothless come on!" I said. He looked at me and then back to the fight right as mom hit the other woman in the stomach and pinned her to the ground.

"Back away from my family. Snotlout, Fishlegs, the ropes." She shouted. They ran over and began to tie the woman's hands and took her staff. Mom removed her helmet and looked at me, then to Mercy. "What happened to her?" She asked and knelt down to where Mercy lay.

"I think she was poisoned." I said in a sad voice. Toothless sniffed Mercy's arm again, before biting it. "Toothless what no stop!" I shouted and ran toward him, but got held back by my mom.

"No honey it's okay. Dragons can smell poisons in bodies and they can drain it by biting the body and sucking it out." She explained. I calmed Xeon and she released her grip. Toothless released Mercy's arm from his jaws to spit out some gross green liquid, then went back to biting.

After another about minute of Toothless doing that weird poison thing, he spit once more and nudged Mercy. I heard her let out a small groan. But her arm was bleeding because she did just get but by a dragon. We covered her arm with bandages from Stormfly's saddle bag.

"Hey guys, where's Astrid?" I asked.

"She stayed behind with Allysa. We didn't want her getting hurt out here." Snotlout explained.

"Thank you. How is she?" I asked.

"She's alright. She's stressed about you two though." Mom replied.

"I guess we better get home then." I said and walked to where Toothless was with Mercy. "Come on bud, we're going home."
