Whose Eyes Were They Anyway

IMPORTANT
There is this restaurant that I have referred to twice in the book already, first when the Kiara-Jason past story happened and then in the last chapter when Kiara asks Janet to meet them there for the celebration.

I have the named the place as the Great Escape and I have made the changes in the previous chapters.

Janet's P. O. V

I was mentally cursing myself for being punctual.

I had failed miserably in searching for Steven so I decided to search for someone who had his contact number. I failed miserably at that as well until I remembered about Jason. Like I had expected, he had Steven's number and I sent him a message, telling him to meet me here at the Great Escape.

I made sure I was on time, so I could finish fast and celebrate with Kiara and people who would be coming soon but Steven had to upset my apple cart.

Kiara, Delna and Andrew could be walking in anytime. Then I'll be stuck doing the work and they would be angry and they would be partying without me.

"Spaced out much, are we?" a husky voice broke caught my attention. I look up to see the boy himself, smirking at me. I roll my eyes and I am about to get back at him when I notice the surroundings.

I look around to see that all, yes, all the girls and women have turned to take a second look. One blonde is still sitting with her mouth and eyes wide open. How can he have such an effect?

I look at him again, and understand the reason immediately.

He is dressed in a grey v-neck t-shirt that fits his lean figure perfectly and he pairs it with black pants which hung low on his hips. His hair looks like he has just got out of bed.

And the best thing is his confidence that is practically radiating out of him right now.

Alright girls, point taken.

"Oh, your highness showed up, welcome sir!" I speak through gritted teeth and give him a sickening sweet smile, batting my eyelashes for effect.

He simply places a hand on his heart and feigned hurt."Ouch," he mouths and sits down in the booth, looking bored. He looks around completely ignoring me and I furrow my brows at him.

He calls an ogling waitress to come over and she walks over to us, swaying her hips for effect. She comes to our table and bends down intentionally, to show him her assets.

What's even more shocking is that he is looking right at it.

"What do you want?" she asks him seductively and he smirks at her.

Pervert.

"I want you to change your shirt because it's stained right here," he says pointing to the button near her chest," and I don't like waitresses with a stained shirt," he says blatantly and the waitress gives him the stink eye.

So he pretends he was looking at that and plays it cool. Just amazing.

"So you came here to tell me about my stained shirt," the waitress gets back at him and I think my eyes just fell out of my sockets.

She changed her colours faster than a freaking chameleon. One time she is flirting with him and the other time she is showing him his place. I wish I had popcorn.

"No, I also had to ask you if you wanted me to buy you a perfume," Steven says and now I fell bad for the waitress.

She just turned and strutted away, telling another younger girl to come attend to us. She came and Steven placed our order and she went away quickly.

I watch her walk away and wonder why she never got affected with his presence like the other girls...

"Earth to Janet. Why the hell did you call me here?" he asks rather rudely and I turn to him with a frown.

"I called you because we have work that needs to be done. By the way, what you did with the waitress was rude," I retort back and he scoffs.

"So you wanted to witness a flirting session where she would have probably left her number on the cup?" he asks and I roll my eyes and look out.

"Yeah, exactly. You should be glad I got rid of her," he says and I roll much tongue in my mouth to control myself. Why? Well because, I may hate to admit it, but he is right.

"Here, take these scripts, we have to select one from them. We both read some and shortlist the ones we like before we finally select one of them," I hold out the scripts for him but he just raises his eyebrows at me.

"You expect me to work? You should be thankful I came," he says rudely and this time I can't hold it back any longer.

"You know what, you can go to hell. Tomorrow, when I submit all this work and Mrs McCartney asks me about you, I'm going to flatly tell her about your behaviour and you will be solely responsible for the consequences," I half-yell and he grits his teeth. He then grumpily picks up some of the scripts and starts reading them with his full attention, while he was fiddling with the pencil in his hands.

Okay I was staring at him angrily and I had to stem the tide. As long as he is working and letting me work, I don't mind.

I started working and I got engrossed. This place was not so famous, so no one asked us to empty the booth because of over flowing customers, which was good.

1 hour later...

After reading multiple scripts students had submitted, I looked up to see what Steven was doing. He was staring at a particular script absent-mindedly with a frown on his face.

Did he actually do anything?

I had managed to read around seven scripts but didn't find any one which was fit for the play. Some were very good but acting them out would not be possible because of script demands. Some didn't have a message so I didn't like them.

"Okay are you done?" I asked him which seemed to have snapped him out of his reverie.

"Yeah," he spat out and slammed the scripts on the table. I gritted my teeth in response.

What is he on today?

I try one last time to end this with civility.

"Did you like any?" I ask trying to sound as sweet as I can. He simply picked up one and chucked it right at me.

This is it.

"Who do you think you are? Or should I ask what do you think I am? Trash? I don't get paid to accept this behaviour. Infact, I wouldn't tolerate it even if I was paid, so you get rid of this attitude around me, do you get it?" I say my voice dangerously low. I am literally shaking with anger right now.

He is about to say something when his eyes shift at something behind me. I'm about to turn when that person decides to speak up.

"Calm down Janet," Andrew's voice comes from behind and I take slow calming breaths. Steven's entire stance has changed and I find that oddly surprising. He is now having this weird eye conversation with Andrew.

"Steven I think you should leave," Andrew said rather sternly and Steven gave one last hard look before leaving.

I took a sharp breath and Andrew took the place Steven just emptied. I took the script he had chucked and started to put it away when I noticed a rather impressive doodle of a pair of eyes on the bottom left corner.

So Steven Rome can sketch huh?

I wonder if it's some real person's eyes...
