TASTY TASTY SAMBAR

COOKING TIME: 30 MINUTES
CUISINE: SOUTH INDIAN
INGREDIENTS :
Green Beans - 6
Carrot- 1
Drumstick- 1
Shallot(small onions) - 10
Tomatoes- 1
Hot green chilli- 2
Salt- as required
Sambar powder- 1 tsp
Red gram or pigeon pea- 2/3 cup
Tamarind - 1 small lemon size or 3 tbsp paste
Coriander leaves - 10
Ghee- 1 tsp
Oil- as needed
Mustard seed- 1tsp
Cumin seed- 1 tsp
Hot dry chilli- 1
Fenugreek seed- 5
Garlic- 3 cloves
Curry leaves (optional) - 5
STEPS :
STEP 1: Cook the red gram or pigeon pea by adding water until it becomes a paste. (I hope you all know how to cook dal. If you dont know how to cook dal ask me i will update it in the next chapter).
STEP 2: Grind tomato, shallot,garlic (1 clove) and curry leaves into a paste.
STEP 3: Cut green beans, carrot, drumstick into small pieces.
STEP 4: Make 1 cup of tamarind juice with water.
STEP 5: Now in a pan,heat oil, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, hot dry chilli, fenugreek seed, garlic (1 clove), and curry leaves until the mustard seeds splatters.
STEP 6: Now add the vegetables and cook for 2 to 3 minutes. Stir it well.
STEP 7: Now add the sambar powder and salt and cook it for 2 minutes. Now add a cup of water and cook it for a while say 3 to 4 minutes.
STEP 8: Now add the cooked dal and the grinded paste.
STEP 9: Now cook this until the vegetables are done till you get rid of the uncooked smell (say 10 to 15 minutes).
STEP 10: Now turn off the stove and add the coriander leaves on the dish.

COOKING TIPS
While boiling corn on the cob, add a pinch of sugar to help bring out the natural sweetness.
