Maui POV

"So, tell me about your dream," Moana said.

"Well," I began to explain the dream, remembering every detail of it. I answered Moana's questions without difficulty and when I had finished she looked at me like a three year old learning about the birds and the bees.

I chuckled at her expression. "You're so cute when you look at me like that."

I thought I saw something flash in her eyes but it was gone within moments. I must have imagined it.

She looked down at the ground and blushed. "No I'm not," she murmured.

"Yes you are. And you're adorable when you blush."

She looked up at me. I saw a gleam in her eyes that hasn't been there before. It was familiar, but I couldn't place my finger on it.

She wrapped her arms around my neck and gently kissed my nose. "I gotta go," she whispered. I could hear regret in her voice, but it sounded a little forced. I looked her in the eyes and saw some kind of sad relief.

I sighed and nodded. "Can you tell me more about escaping tomorrow?" I whispered. She nodded and climbed off my lap and slipped into one of the cracks nearby me.

I sighed again, we would going to get out of this. We would, I just know it.

Moana POV

I walked into the crack that led into my room. I lay down on the bed and stare blankly at the ceiling.

I thought about the feeling I had gotten a few minutes ago, after Maui told me I was cute. The feeling had felt alien but familiar at the same time. It was like... something inside me just... I don't know... unlocked.

I sighed. I could still feel the warmth on my cheeks from blushing. I had enjoyed spending that time with Maui, he made me smile and laugh. I wanted to help him escape but I couldn't do so myself.

Then I remembered something that could get us both an escape. The Harvest Festival.

A plan slowly started to form in my mind. Images and scenarios started to play before my mind. After about an hour I was smiling to myself. This would work.
