Waking up was no easy task.

It is often depicted as an slow, serene affair, but that is rarely the case.

One type of waking up, for simplicity's sake called type A, is the sudden jolt up, the shout of surprise.

Another is the slow stupor, which we shall call type B - waking up barely coherent and often losing consciousness directly after.

Hiccup did neither of these. His kind of waking up was rather unorthodox, in the sense that you don't often wake up by violently unfurling your wings, and pushing one of them into the person directly next to you. Pushing one of them hard into the person directly next to you.

Yes. Nobody ever really does that anymore.

Anyway. Back to the point.

Hiccup woke up by shoving his wing out rather violently and catching a dozing Astrid a rather nasty blow to the stomach.

She woke up with a start - type A - and proceeded to grope blindly for her battle axe.

Finding this to be an impossible task due to the absence of the aforementioned axe, she finally looked around properly and saw what it was that had hit her.

"Hiccup! It was you." She exclaimed, panting a little from the shock. "You scared me!"

Hiccup, his head resting on the ground sleepily, managed an apologetic look. He lifted one claw and scratched a very shaky question mark into the ground.

What happened?

"Oh! Erm, I don't really know. Ask Ruff and Tuff - they found you." Astrid replied, flustered.

Hiccup drooped his eyes in a very theatrical manner.

Tired.

"Go back to sleep. You hit your head pretty hard."

Hiccup moved his eyes up and down in a tired impression of a nod, before closing them altogether.

Okay.

The book is going again. Yaay! Well, here we go I suppose. I had quite some fun using long words in this chapter. Anyway, my writing style seems to be quite fluid at the minute, so the style may vary from chapter to chapter.

Just a quick filler chapter to get things going and in the mood again. The others will be longer though, I promise.I've already written a bunch of them, so their length is fixed.
