Connie, Erick, and Kylie spent days and weeks learning the ASL alphabet, their names, the ASL numbers, and their ages before they moved on.
'Next thing we need to do is know how to sign simple words.
We'll be learning how to sign yes, no, thank you, you're welcome, hello, goodbye, I love you, please, and sorry. Are you ready?'
Kylie read the words on the paper before nodding her head.
She watched as her mother spelled 'yes' on a different piece of paper.
"Yes," Connie said, making a fist and nodding it up and down like a head. It almost looked like she was knocking on an invisible door.
"Yes," Erick echoed, doing the same thing.
"Yes," Kylie said, almost sounding muffled as she copied both of her parents.
They did the other signs, taking their time to help Kylie.
"Okay," Connie said, standing up. She grabbed the sheet that contained the words her daughter was supposed to learn.
She handed them to Kylie before writing on a different scratch paper.
'Remember. If you need help, Kylie, please come ask your dad and I. We're happy to help you.'

Just like Kylie, you need to learn the ASL signs. It's the intro to signing sentences, so it's important to know how to sign words.
So, go ahead! Memorize the words, and have fun with your friends signing them!
