"Hon," Connie says, grabbing her husband and pulling him over to the table. "Watch Kylie."
Kylie looked up at her father, smiling.
F-A-T-H-E-R, Kylie fingerspells.
Her father widens his eyes and looks at Kylie's mother.
"Connie. Did she just…?" He says, speechless.
She nods, looking at Kylie. "She did, Hon."
Erick kneels down to look at his daughter.
K-Y-L-I-E, he spells.
Kylie grins.
Kylie, Connie, and Erick feel tears start to well up in their eyes as they hug each other.
After a little while of fingerspelling, Kylie's mother grabs another stack of paper.
She scribbles quickly onto a piece of paper, then hands it to Kylie.
'Now we have to learn the ASL numbers. You don't have to learn every single number right now if you don't want to. I will give you a book your doctor gave us that is full of ASL numbers to look through when you want to.
For now, we'll be learning numbers from 1 to 30.'
Kylie watches Connie  scribble the number one really big on a scratch paper.
"This is one," Connie says. She makes a fist with a finger pointed up, which looks like she's pointing up at the roof.
Kylie does the same.
"One," her mother says, showing Erick the same thing.
"One," he says, mimicking them both.
"One," Kylie says, almost sounding like she said when.
They went through the rest of the numbers before Kylie was allowed to learn the numbers by herself.

Just like Kylie, you need to learn the ASL numbers. It's important to know how to sign numbers, because when a deaf person asks what your age is, you need to know how to sign your age to them!
So, go ahead! Memorize the numbers, and have fun with your friends signing your ages!

(If you're over the age of 30, please let me know and I'll add numbers over 30 underneath this.)
