...

It was a rainy day in Britain, a typical English weather so Shoma had been told.

He went to Britain to visit his great aunt who had recently immigrated there. He wore a disguise so as to not let anyone know it was him. He tried to look different by putting on sunglasses and wearing a baseball cap over his messy black hair and put on a surgical mask whenever he was outside.

He was walking in the rain, which made it look odd that he was wearing sunglasses, and trying to find his way back to his great aunt's after running an errand for her.

He's sunglasses made it hard for him to see anyone but he decided that taking them off would be just as bad.

When he was waiting to cross the street, a girl in bright ginger hair came waiting with him. He thought it was the perfect opportunity.

'Excuse me...do you know where is uh Hinging Brock school?'
He attemped to speak in his broken English but saw the girl looking as confused as he seemed to be.

'Um...pardon?' The girl replied in a heavy British accent.

Though Shoma had no idea what she meant, he repeated his former question.
'Hinge chin-brok school, where to go?'

This time the girl seemed to have understood him a little.
'You mean Hinchingbrooke School? Its right over there, just make a right turn and cross the next junction by the convenient store and you'll see it. By the way, I don't mean to pry, but the schools closed for the summer.'

'Ah thank you. I go aunt's house. By school.'

'I see. You want me to walk you there? I live by there anyways.'

'Yes thank you. Uh, what's your name?'

'Its Alexandra, but you can just call me Lexi. What about you? Where are you from, seeing as its unlikely you're from here?'

'I from Japan. Nice to meet you Lexi-san. My name is...'
Shoma hesistated to tell her.

What if she knows who I am?
But the possibility that a random girl from a small town in Britain would know me is kinda slim.
But to be safe...

Lexi stared at him in amusement, 'you forgot your name?'

'Ah no, my name is Adam.'

seriously? Adam? Why would I say that?? That's the best I can come up with?

'Oh pleasure to meet you, Adam. Welcome to Britain.'

As the two walked along the street in the rain together, Lexi thought the boy looked familiar. Though she couldn't see his face since he was wearing a sunglasses, despite the rain and a surgical mask.
I wonder who he is?
It feels like I've known him all my life but....I don't recall ever meeting an Adam from Japan.

'You go to this school?'

'Yep. How old are you? If you don't mind me asking.'

'I am 18.'

'Nice, I'm turning fourteen in few months or so.'

'I have a younger brother that's fourteen too.'

'You do? That's cool. I have a useless older brother that's 16 and sometimes it seems that I'm the older one.' She laughed.

Shoma couldn't help but smile too.
She's just too cute.

'Oh by the way, when are you returning to Japan? Just wondering.'

'Eh...on friday?'

'Aww that's a pity. I would love to show you around my small town sometimes. I'm sure it's very different from Japan.'

'It is. Japan is bigger and louder. Any chance you come visit Japan?'

'Probably not til I'm old enough to work and fly alone. But I would love too. I've always wanted to go to a figure skating event there and see my favourite skaters.' Lexi sighed and the longingness lingered in her eyes.

Shoma was surprised to know she watches figure skating. When she said she probably wouldn't go to Japan soon, he couldn't help but sigh and feel slightly disappointed even though he had no idea why.
'Who your favourite skaters?'

'Oh you must know them, they're so popular. Its Shoma Uno, Yuzuru Hanyu and Sota Yamamoto.'

He's heart skipped a beat when he's name was mentioned.
So she is a fan of mine. Thank god I decided not to take my sunglasses off.

'Yes I know them. I watch figure skating too.'
What, I do. Plus if I say that, we'll have more to talk about.

'You do?!! That's great. Omg, who's your favourite?'

'Uh...Daisuke Takahashi and Evgenia Medvedeva.'

'I love them too. Wow, we have more in common than my friends and I do. This is great I meet a fan just like me. We should totally text sometime!'

Wow, she really likes figure skating. Wonder what type of fan she is? Is she the overprotective type or crazy fan? I love those fans. They make me so happy.

'What's your number?'

'Here, I'll write in your phone.'

So they exchanged numbers under a tree while getting soaked as the rain got heavier and neither of them brought an umbrella.

Shoma sighed.
Why didn't I take the umbrella like aunt warned me to?

'Wow, we really should have brought an umbrella.'

'Is it always like that in Britain?' Shoma complained.

'Yep, this isn't even half bad. This is considered nice already.'

'Can't imagine what bad is like.'

'Trust me, you don't want to know.' Lexi smiled and shook her head.

'Anyways, we are here. Thank you for walking me here and showing me to the school. Nice to meet you Lexi-chan.'

Lexi noticed the change of honourific.
'You called me Lexi-chan'

Shoma smiled, 'yes, because now we're no longer just strangers.'

Lexi smiled to herself as she made one knew friend that day.

Despite being soaked through, Shoma shut the door behind him and couldn't resist the happy feeling that resided in him.

...

Lexi went home and dried herself after that evenful time in the rain.
She still felt like she knew who Adam was but she couldn't quite put her finger around who it is.

Her brother came in her room later that night and found her staring and smiling to herself.

'What are you smiling at, Lex?'

'Eh, nothing. Just made a new friend today.'

Her brother stared at her weirdly and concluded that it must be the mood swings of teenage girls. He went off mumbling, 'that girl...must be her puberty phase hitting her.'

Lexi said to herself, 'just a small town girl, living in a lonely world, she took the city bus going anywhere. Just a city boy, born and raised in south Japan, he took the d
City bus going anywhere.

A stranger comes in mid July. The talk of figure skating stars. For the smile they can share the love it goes on and on and on and on.

Strangers, waiting, up and down the zebra crossing. Shadows, searching in the day.

Streetlight, people, living just a fine emotion. Hiding somewhere in the night.'

...

The texting relationship still existed and continued on til Friday came when Shoma was about to leave.

As he got on the plane in Sheffield, he looked up to the stars in the night and thought of Lexi, the girl with the ginger hair.

Sometimes I wish that I could stop the clock from turning, and spend the weekend lost inside your eyes.

Somehow I wish that I could hug the roses burning, til I can make you mine.

From the first time I saw you at that junction down Huntingdon.
It was raining so hard and we both got soaked.
Could've talked forever had a thousand things to tell you.
I hated that my flight was taking off.

And if, I have the time, and I could live, a different life, and if this plane would fly, over the Cambridgeshire Sky, I'd be with you tonight.

I put my headphones on and went right to the The Beatles. Looked out the window, saw your face amongst the stars.
Didn't ask in England and I wonder if you've left here, and if you know you've caught my heart.

From the first time I saw you at that junction down Huntingdon.
It was raining so hard and we both got soaked.
Could've talked forever had a thousand things to tell you.
Instead of being ten thousand feet above nowhere...
