You are a kid at Wammy's. You're very shy, and not great around people, but you are exceptionally smart. Not Near and Mello's level of smart, but almost.

You've got a few friends friends at Wammy's, but, being the shy child that you are, you've never been the most popular.

Your two best friends at Wammy's are Mello and Linda. How a shy girl like you, and a headstrong boy like him turned out to be best friends, the world may never know. But, you'd been friends with Linda since the day you arrived at Wammy's. She was so nice to you, she made you feel welcomed.

Anyway, the Wammy's kids were all very excited because today is the day they're leaving to go camping for the weekend. L, Watari and Roger thought the kids were all doing well in school, and deserved a weekend of fun.

They will arrive at the campsite Friday afternoon, spend two nights, and leave Sunday afternoon.

The busses arrive, and the kids load on. You sit with Mello and prepare for the hour long bus ride. The busses leave Wammy's and begin the long journey

"Everyone, please get into partners, girls with girls and boys with boys, so that you can all set up your tents right away when we get to the campsite." Roger says, standing at the front of the bus

The bus gets loud quickly. Someone taps your shoulder, you turn around and see Linda smiling at you

"You wanna be my partner?" She asks, you smile

"Definitely." You and Linda laugh and talk for most of the bus ride. When you finally arrive, all of the kids are told to grab their bags and to set up their tent with their partner.

You and Linda grab your bags and a tent, find a nice spot, and begin setting it up. After about a half an hour, your tent is set up

"We did it!" You exclaim, and high-five Linda. You shove your bags in the tent, and finally get a chance to look around. The campground is really nice. It's mostly wooded, but has a small clearing where there's a nice lake with a rock cliff that looks like you can jump off of it.

"Hey Y/N, Linda, we're going to jump off of the rock cliff into the water, wanna come?" Mello calls, looking at the two of you

"Sure, I'll come!" You call "I've just got to get changed!"

"I think I'll sit this one out! I want to sketch the lake!" Linda calls. You rush into your tent and change into a bathing suit.

You and Linda walk down to the lake and see a group of kids waiting for you. Linda lays out her towel and sits on it on the sand in front of the water. She takes out her sketch pad and a pencil.

"Ready, Y/N?" Mello asks, you nod. The group makes their way to the rock cliff. It has a small pathway up to different jumping locations, but it breaks off and it looks like you have to really hug the wall to get across in some spots. This makes you a little nervous, as you have a small fear of heights, and falling.

Everyone begins going up the small pathway, but you are hesitant and stay at the back of the group. Mello is one of the first ones to jump, from one of the middle jumping locations.

"C'mon Y/N, it's fun." Mello smiles as you as he pulls himself out of the water, ready to climb the rock and jump again.

"A-alright." He leads you to the rock, and across the thin pathway. The path breaks, and you have to hold the rock and stretch to get over to the next part of the pathway. Mello shows you how, but you stop, holding the rock for dear life.

"It's okay, Y/N, you can do it." Mello says, waiting for you on the other side of the break. You make the mistake of looking down, and see how far you are from the water. You're probably only about three meters from the water, but it's high enough to scare you.

"She's scared?" One of the boys who's on one of the jumping locations above you laughs

"Seriously?" Another says

"How pathetic." They all break out into laughter

"Hey! Don't you dare laugh at her!" Mello yells at them. He turns and begins to climb the path to where they were. You aren't sure exactly what Mello was planning on doing, but you'll never know, because the boys panicked when they saw Mello coming for them, and jumped into the water. He makes his way back to you

Mello stretches his hand out to you

"Y/N, take my hand, I won't let you fall." You slowly stretch your arm out to grab onto his hand. "Good, now grab the rock and put your foot on this ledge."

You reach up and hold onto one of the groves in the rock. You stretch your leg out and put your foot on the other ledge. You push off with your other foot and get both feet on the ledge

"Good job, you did it!" Mello smiles

"Thank you." You smile back

You make it to the lowest jumping location. You look up at all of the other jumping locations, and all of the other kids jumping from them, and decide that you don't want to go any further, because the pathway only gets thinner and harder to get across.

You look down from the rock, and immediately back up from the edge. You must be four or five meters away from the water, and that scares you

"I don't want to go any higher." You say, looking back at Mello

"Okay, we can jump from here." He walks to the edge and looks down, not looking even slightly nervous

"I'm scared..." You whisper, hoping that he heard you so that you wouldn't have to repeat yourself

"It's okay, Y/N. We'll jump together." He takes your hand in his and leads you to the edge of the rock

"Ready?" He asks, you nod "One... Two... Three!" You push yourself off of the rock on three and both plunge into the water.

"I did it!" You exclaim, smiling happily

"Yes you did. Good job!" Mello says, helping you out of the water

"Thanks for the help, Mello." You blush slightly as you stand up.

You continue to jump from the rocks with Mello, until you get tired of it, and go back to your tent to change into dry clothes.

Linda opens the tent door and plops onto her sleeping bag with her sketchbook and pencil in hand

"I want to show you my drawings." She says, smiling happily

"Alright." You sit beside her and she flips to the first page she wants to show you. It's a beautiful sketch of the lake

Your eyes widen slightly, she sketched the lake perfectly

"It's amazing!" You exclaim, your eyes looking over every little detail

"Thanks, but that's not the only one I wanted to show you." She flips the page, revealing a sketch of you and Mello. She had perfectly drawn you taking Mello's hand as he helped you across the rock cliff.

Did I forget to mention that you have a crush on your best friend, Mello? Well, you do, and Linda is the only one who knows about it.

You blush slightly when she turns the page again. This drawing is of you and Mello holding hands as you jumped off of the rock cliff.

Linda giggles as she looks at your blushing face.

The door to your tent is quickly unzipped, giving you no time to react. Mello's head pops in the door. You panic, what would he think if he saw you blushing about the picture Linda had drawn?

"Dinner is ready." He says, then leaves. You let out the breath that you had unknowingly been holding in

"Aww, you're blushing again!" Linda giggles again. You smile and playfully hit her arm.

You two make your way over to the barbecues, and take a (hotdog, hamburger, veggie burger etc.). You and Linda then find a spot on the picnic bench beside Mello.

After dinner, everyone is sent to their tents to change into warmer clothes, and then to gather around the fire to tell ghost stories and make s'mores.

When you and Linda get to the fire pit, you see kids already roasting marshmallows for their s'mores. You and Linda run to one bench and grab a marshmallow each, two graham crackers each, a piece of chocolate and roasting stick each.

You then find your way to the bench that Mello was sitting on, with his friend Matt. Matt was nice to you, but he was playing video games most of the time, so you didn't talk to him that often.

When you sit down on the bench, you notice that instead of getting the materials to make a s'more, Mello snatched a whole chocolate bar and was snapping off pieces of it with his teeth.

He smiles at you, before the turning his attention back to the kid who was currently telling a ghost story.

You set your graham crackers and chocolate down on the bench between you and Linda, and put your marshmallow onto your stick.

Linda already had her marshmallow half done by the time you started roasting yours. She smiles as she finishes her s'more and begins eating it.

You finally finish roasting your marshmallow, and when you go to grab your graham crackers and chocolate, find that your chocolate had been taken.

"Look, Y/N, I needed that, there wasn't any left over there." One of the older boys from earlier says, pointing to the bench where you got your s'more supplies. He and his friends begin laughing

You sigh and set the graham crackers down, upset that you weren't going to get to eat your s'more. Mello notices this, and turns to the laughing boys on the bench beside you

"Hey, back off!" He shouts, beginning to stand up. You grab onto the arm of his shirt

"Mello, it's okay." You say, not wanting him to make a scene and get into trouble. He looks down at you, and sighs out in defeat, but not before shouting at them one more time

"Leave her alone!" The boys stop laughing, and glare at Mello.

He ignores them, and sits back down beside you. He picks up his chocolate bar and snaps off a piece

"Here, you can use this for your s'more." He says, handing it to you. You smile brightly, and take it from him

"Thank you!" You exclaim, using the chocolate Mello gave you to make your s'more.

"You're welcome." He says, snapping off another piece of the chocolate bar with his teeth.

He smiles as he watches you happily eat your s'more. The little blond hated to see you upset, so he made sure to do everything in his power to ensure that you were always happy. And, he thought you looked best when you were smiling, so that was a bonus reason for him to make sure you were always happy.

Once ghost stories were finished, everyone was dismissed to bed. Linda had gone to your tent early, saying that there was something she needed to do.

You smile happily as you walk alongside Mello, back to your tent. You make it to your tent and begin to open the 'door'

"I'll see you in the morning, Y/N." Mello says in a happy voice

"Goodnight, Mello." You say, getting into your tent and closing the 'door'. You see Linda sitting on her sleeping bag with her sketchbook, and a flashlight pointed at it. She was sketching something, but you couldn't quite tell what

"What're you drawing?" You ask, as she looks up at you and puts her pencil behind her ear

"Come look, I just finished it, actually." You sit beside her on her sleeping bag and look at her sketchbook. She had drawn Mello giving you a piece of his chocolate, while smiling happily.

You feel a blush heat your cheeks. You knew why she'd drawn this; it was because everyone knew that Mello would do basically anything for chocolate, and so him giving you a piece of his chocolate was adorable.

She giggles quietly, presumably because of your red face.

You move over to sit on your sleeping bag, before getting inside of it. Linda turns off her flashlight and does the same.

You say your goodnight and fall into a happy sleep.
