For the purpose of this One-Shot, you and L are about 19, Matt and Mello are about 6, Near is about 4, and Beyond is about 11.

You've been dating the world famous L for about a year now. He, being the world famous detective that he is, thought it would be safest for you to stay at Wammy's House; the orphanage where all of L's possible successors live. You enjoy living at Wammy's and seeing the kids all the time, and the kids seem to really like you too.

L only really has time to visit Wammy's House when he's looking for a new case. But, he tries to spend as much time with you as he can when he visits.

Now was one of the times when L was back at Wammy's.

It was about 6:30pm. You had just finished helping clean up after dinner and were reading a book in your bedroom. You hear a knock on your bedroom door. You put your book down and stand up to open the door.

Beyond, Mello, Matt and Near stand at your door

"Y/N, Roger says we can't go camping in the backyard by ourselves, will you come with us?" Beyond asks, looking up at you. You pretend to think about it for a minute

"Sure, I'd love to go camping with you guys. You know who else should come camping with us?" You ask, they look questioningly at each other

"Who?" Mello asks, tilting his head to the side

"L." You answer simply. They smile and immediately get excited, all of the kids love L.

"Do you really think he'll come with us?" Matt asks

"There's only one way to find out." You smile. They take off down the hall, running up the stairs. You run after them, all the way to the top floor, where L's room is.

They all knock on the door at once

"Come in." L says from inside his room. Beyond twists the door handle and opens the door. L is sitting at his computer, looking at something on the Internet. They all run inside, making L's attention shift to the four boys running towards him

You lean against the doorframe and smile

"L, will you come camping in the backyard with us?" Mello asks

"Please?" Near adds

L looks up at you, you smile at him. He smiles slightly

"Sure." He answers. The four boys cheer, obviously overjoyed. They run out of the room in search of a tent.

"Have you ever put a tent up?" You ask L, who was now standing beside you

"No, never." He answers, putting his thumb to his lips, like he always does. You smile, this might be a problem

"Let's go find them before they tear Wammy's apart looking for a tent." You say, walking out of his room. You think you hear a faint chuckle out of L, but you aren't sure.

L takes your hand in his as you walk down the stairs and out to the backyard of Wammy's. The boys had found a dome tent and were currently pulling all of the parts out of the bag. Near holds the instructions, he's sitting on the grass reading them.

You let go of L's hand and sit beside Near on the grass

"What do the instructions say we do first?" You ask, looking at the young child. He looks at you with his dark, round eyes before focusing back on the instructions

"We have to lay the tent out on the ground." He answers. You nod and stand up, taking the tent and unfolding it over the grass. Beyond and Mello help you unfold the tent over the grass.

"What do we do next, Near?" You look back to where Near was sitting, to see that L had gone and crouched beside him, and was reading the instructions over his shoulder

"It says you have to inset the tent poles through the frame of the tent." He says, looking slightly confused at to what exactly that meant. You pick up one of the tent poles, which Matt had been unfolding, and begin to thread it through the loops on the tent.

Beyond picks up a pole and copies your actions with another set of loops. Once all of the support bars are in place, Near tells you that you have to raise the tent while someone hammers the tent pegs into place.

Beyond picks up the tent hammer "I wanna do it!" He exclaims

"I think I should do it." L says, standing up and taking the hammer from Beyond

"Okay." Beyond says, going to sit with the other boys on the grass. You hold the tent up while L hammers the pegs in to place.

Once all the pegs have been hammered into the ground, you let go of the tent. You smile and put your hands on your hips, very proud of yourself for putting up a tent.

"Can we get our sleeping bags now?" Mello asks

"Yeah, go ahead." You tell them. The four take off to their bedrooms to find their sleeping bags and anything they would need to sleep.

"Should we go find sleeping bags?" L asks, walking over to you

You nod, and turn to L "Thanks for agreeing to do this. It means so much to the boys." You smile and kiss his cheek

"No need to thank me, I'm just glad to see them happy." He smiles as well, and leans down to kiss your lips. Before one of the kids runs out and sees the two of you, you pull away, and take his hand.

You find sleeping bags and then go to your separate rooms to change into your pyjamas. After changing into your long sleeved pyjama top, and pyjama pants, you run into the kitchen and look at the clock. It says 8:00pm, curfew is in one hour.

You grab a pack of matches, a bag of marshmallows, some chocolate, and graham crackers. You then walk back to the backyard and see that none of the boys are back at the tent yet.

You set your sleeping bag up in the tent and walk over to the fire pit. You drop the marshmallows, chocolate, graham crackers and matches by one of the benches, and begin to make a fire. Once you've made a fire, you go back to the tent.

You see that Near has set his sleeping bag up beside yours, next to the wall of the tent. L is on the other side of you, and Beyond is beside him. Matt and Mello set their sleeping bags up the opposite way of everyone else's, at the end of the tent, by everyone's feet.

"Do you guys want to make s'mores?" You ask, making all heads turn towards you

"Yeah!" They shout, rushing out of the tent to go find sticks. L goes to find a stick as well, but does so in a more calm manner.

You sit by the fire with your stick, waiting for the others to get back. They finally all find sticks and return to the fire pit.

Everyone gets a marshmallow and begins to roast them over the fire. Everyone makes a successful s'more, aside from Beyond, who sets four marshmallows on fire before finally making one that he can actually eat.

After finishing off the bag of marshmallows, it's curfew. You put out the fire, clean up the garbage, and make your way back inside the tent. Near is curled up inside his sleeping bag, while L crouches on top of his, and Matt, Mello and Beyond sit on theirs. They seem to be scheming...

You zip up the 'door' of the tent and climb into your sleeping bag.

"It's curfew, boys, Roger won't be happy with us if we're up after curfew." You say

"Can't we tell a few ghost stories?" Beyond asks

"Please, Y/N?" Mello and Matt ask in sync

"I guess a few ghost stories wouldn't hurt." You answer, moving to sit on top of your sleeping bag.

Beyond, Matt and Mello take turns telling ghost stories, but they all seem to be telling part of the same story.

Beyond starts, by telling a story about a couple who went camping on Friday the 13th, and they were never seen again.

Matt continues, by telling a story about a monster that goes to camp sites, looking for its victims every Friday the 13th.

And Mello finishes, by telling a story about what happened after the couple cam into contact with the horrible monster.

After the three were finished with their ghost stories, you convinced them to go to sleep.

Later that night, you feel a small tap on your shoulder and turn in your sleeping bag to face Near

"What's wrong?" You ask, looking at the small child

"I'm cold." He says as he shivers

"Do you want to get into my sleeping bag with me?" You ask, he nods. You move over to make room for him in your sleeping bag. He crawls in and falls asleep what seems to be instantly.

You hear something hit the side of the tent, causing you to wake up. Whatever it is, it hits the tent again. You move slowly, trying not to wake the sleeping child that you have your arm around. You shake L's shoulder

"L, wake up." You whisper. It hits the tent again, and you hear a deep growl. This time, it wakes Near up

"What is that, Y/N?" He asks, curling up against you

"I'm not sure." You answer, still shaking L. You finally get him to wake up, just in time for it to hit the tent again. L sits up, so do you and Near

"Where are the other three?" You ask, looking at their empty sleeping bags. You and L look at each other, it's probably them hitting the tent, trying to scare you guys.

L gets out of his sleeping bag, unzips the tent 'door' and flicks the flashlight on. You stand up as well, and follow him out of the tent. Near follows close behind you, keeping a tight grip on your hand.

You make your way around the tent, and finally spot the 'monster', who has really small legs, and is wearing Matt's pyjama pants, and a trench coat. He also has blonde hair, like Mello's behind his mask, and slightly resembles a boy who is sitting on another boy's shoulders.

The 'monster' seems kind of unstable, and ends up falling over.

"Are you okay?" You ask, helping Matt and Mello up

"Yeah, I'm fine." Mello says, dusting off his pyjama pants. Matt nods, looking slightly over your shoulder.

As Matt nods, Beyond, who is also wearing a mask, jumps out from behind a few bushes, and screams 'Boo'. Near screams and runs to hide behind you, who also let out a small scream and jumped a little. L, however, did not seem phased.

"We got them!" Matt begins laughing hysterically, so does Mello

"But we didn't scare L." Beyond seems disappointed

"I knew that you were going to jump out and try and scare us when I saw that you weren't with Matt and Mello." L states

"Alright, boys, back to bed." You say, while stroking Near's hair gently, trying to calm him down.

Mello yawns "okay, Y/N." They all get back into the tent and crawl into their sleeping bags. Near shivers again.

L gets into his sleeping bag, and you and Near crawl back into yours.

The night of camping out in the backyard was a success, and the boys had a lot of fun.
