Can humans see God? The answer seems unclear

"For I have seen God face to face, yet my life has been spared." — Genesis 32:30

My church always taught that God's glory was so great, that seeing his face would burn up an ordinary human. But according to the passage in genesis I quoted above, Jacob saw the face of God and lived.

However other verses claim that no one can see God and survive the experience.

"No man hath seen God at any time..."– John 1:18

"You cannot see My face, for no man can see Me and live!" (Exodus 33:20)

Both of these verses state that whoever looks upon God shall die so no one has seen him. However both Jacob and Moses have seen God and they lived to tell the tale. So why was there an exception for them?

The only explanation I have found for this contradiction, is the translation of the word 'live.' The word live here is translated from the Hebrew word 'chayhay' which means life, but not physical life in the way that we think. It means revived or strengthened. I'll link the website with the full explanation.

https://firmisrael.org/learn/no-man-can-see-my-face-and-live/#:~:text=What%20Seeing%20God's%20Face%20Does,call%20it%20a%20nice%20experience.
But the gist of this article is that Moses and Jacob will no longer being able to survive in a natural way.

The next website I am going to link claims that no one can see God because he is a spirit, not a body. Which is odd because, didn't Jacob and Moses see him?

The Bible says God is all powerful.

"... with God all things are possible." — Matthew 19:26

However this next passage says otherwise.

"...The LORD was with Judah; and he drave out the inhabitants of the mountain; but could not drive out the inhabitants of the valley, because they had chariots of iron." — Judges 1:19

What is up with the obsession with circumcision?

"This is my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee; Every man child among you shall be circumcised." — Genesis 17:10

"I, Paul, say to you that if you accept circumcision, Christ will be of no advantage to you. I testify again to every man who accepts circumcision that he is obligated to keep the whole law. You are severed from Christ, you who would be justified by the law; you have fallen away from grace. For through the Spirit, by faith, we ourselves eagerly wait for the hope of righteousness. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but only faith working through love. " Galatians 5:2-11

"This is my covenant, which you shall keep, between me and you and your offspring after you: Every male among you shall be circumcised. You shall be circumcised in the flesh of your foreskins, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and you. He who is eight days old among you shall be circumcised. Every male throughout your generations, whether born in your house or bought with your money from any foreigner who is not of your offspring, both he who is born in your house and he who is bought with your money, shall surely be circumcised. So shall my covenant be in your flesh an everlasting covenant. Any uncircumcised male who is not circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin shall be cut off from his people; he has broken my covenant" Genesis 17:10-14

So should Christians circumcise their children or not? Does it matter or not? According to Genesis, circumcision is a simple of the covenant with God. However Galatians says it makes no difference whether a child's foreskin has been removed or not.

Did the women who discovered the empty tomb of Jesus tell people what they saw? There are conflicting stories.

"The women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples" (Matthew 28:8).

"When they came back from the tomb, they told all these things to the Eleven and to all the others" (Luke 24:9).

And this verse says things happened differently.

"Trembling and bewildered, the women went out and fled from the tomb. They said nothing to anyone, because they were afraid." (Mark 16:8)

I still plan on making an entire chapter dedicated to differences within the gospels, but school has kept me pretty busy lately.

Is there anything you would like to see me do a chapter on?
Thanks for reading
