The music video centers around two gay men living in a Christian cult village. They are discovered and killed for their 'sins.'

I believe the most powerful part of this song is the chorus.

Take me to church / I'll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies / I'll tell you my sins and you can sharpen your knife

It is a direct jab at the church and it's hypocrisy. The church preaches 'come as you are' but shames people when they do sin. It is specifically an attack on the anti-LGBT beliefs that a majority of churches hold.
