Your POV

"Are you sure you want to move?"

Looking over at Mom, her eyes glossy from the tears she's been holding back for the last couple days. Ever since I made the decision to move to Pelican Town, in Stardew Valley.

"Grandpa left me the farm, it's my job to take care of it."

"I know, I know. We were just hoping that it wouldn't be this soon for you to leave."

"Mom, I'll be fine. Don't worry."

Watching her nod slightly she smiles after a moment. She wipes her eye while I sigh and give a small smile. Stepping forward to give me a hug she wraps her arms around me tightly.

"You better call and send letters, you hear me?"

"What color ink do you want them in?"

She gives me a look as she smacks my arm. Giggling at the small sting she left my Dad steps forward.

"We'll keep in touch, if your brother gets to be too much we'll send him your way"

Chuckling I shake my head. "You know he won't do anything but complain about the bugs and the heat."

"I know, but it was worth a try."

Hearing the bus's airbrakes come to a squealing stop, I glance over to see the driver open the doors. Smiling to myself I pick up my bags. "I'll see you guys soon"

Getting into my seat on the bus I look out the window, watching them wave me off. Sighing in my seat as I lean back in it, looking at the next destination being Pelican Town on the digital screen.

'Grandpa I hope this is the right decision, hopefully that old friend of yours still lives in Pelican Town.'

~Pelican Town~

Once off the bus, I smile as I'm met with a middle aged red head in a yellow sweater. Her hair is up in a ponytail and she smiles as she sees me get off the bus.

"Hello, you must be (y/n). I'm Robin the local carpenter. Mayor Lewis sent me here to show you the way to your new home. He's there right now tidying it up for your arrival. The farm's right over here, if you'll follow me!"

Watching her turn around I grab my things and follow her down the small dirt path towards the right. There's a small gate we walk through before finding a farmstead in utter shambles.

"This is Riverview Farm!"

She smiles as she turns to look at me, before her smile fades as I'm in shock of the state of the farm.

"What's the matter?"

"It's a complete mess!"

Smiling gently she nods before she glances back out to the fields that have rocks, weeds, fallen limbs and trees all over it.

"Sure, it's a bit overgrown. But there's some good soil underneath that mess!"

She turns back to me as I look over at her, my brows furrowed with worry.

"With a little dedication you'll have it cleared up in no time!"

Nodding gently at her words of encouragement, we step a bit closer to the house, stopping in front of the small staircase that's connected to the porch.

Hearing the door open I look up to see an older man wearing a green button up shirt, brown slacks, matching suspenders, and a beret. He smiles as he sees us standing there.

"Ah, the new farmer!"

Coming down the steps he stops next to us, forming a small circle as we stand there.

"Welcome! I'm Lewis, Mayor of Pelican Town. You know everyone's been asking about you. It's not everyday that someone new moves in. It's quite a big deal."

Smiling to himself he glances at the house for a second.

"So... You're moving into your grandfather's old cottage. It's a good house... Very 'rustic'"

Robin Snickers under her breath at the term for the house. Looking at her with a brow raised I see her look over, smirking to herself.

"Rustic? That's one way to put it. 'Crusty' might be a little more apt though."

Furrowing his brows Lewis looks at the younger woman as she's still chuckling to herself.

"Robin! That's rude! That's now how to welcome the new farmer!"

He sighs as she shrugs to herself before turning to me. Looking up at him slightly as I fiddle with the small pocket on my overalls.

"Don't listen to her, (y/n). She's just trying to make you dissatisfied so that you buy her house upgrades. Anyway... You should get some rest. Tomorrow you ought to explore the town some and introduce yourself. The townspeople would appreciate that."

He turns to leave with a small nod, only getting a few steps away before turning with his hand up.

"Oh, I almost forgot. If you have anything to sell, just place it in this box here. I'll come by during the night to collect it! Well... Good luck!"

Robin nods gently and waves as she walks back towards what I was assuming was town for the night. Turning to the fields again and sigh gently.

Sitting on the steps I rest my head on my hand and look at it all.

'Grandpa, I have my work cut out for me big-time on this one. I just hope I didn't bite off more than I can chew.'

Standing from the steps I take my things inside and put them down. Looking around the small room I smile gently. A fireplace sits on the back wall with a single window. A TV and a rug aren't too far from it.

The corner I have a small bed and there's a table, and chair with a decoration sitting on it.

Taking a step I notice that there's something else on the floor. Humming slightly I walk over to pick up the small box. It was full of seeds, grabbing a packet I look at the picture.

A little something to help get you started -Mayor Lewis.

Putting the box on the table I yawn and stretch.  The long bus ride from the city really took it out of me. An early bedtime might be the remedy for that.

Sliding into bed I nestle into the new mattress and look at the ceiling for a bit, falling asleep shortly thereafter.
