Monday 1st Spring

Your POV

Waking up the next morning I yawn gently. Pulling myself out of the soft bed and warm blanket I rub my eyes. Glancing around the room I smile slightly and make my way to my dresser.

Getting dressed and grabbing my hat I step outside and blink as the sunrise blinds me. Looking around to see the little bit of work I've done to push back the debris from the house is looking... less than what I had previously thought it was.

"Really have my work cut out for me don't I?" I mumble.

Slipping my gloves on, I head out to push it back some more. I doubt my new neighbors would be happy about my knocking on their door at 6:30 in the morning.

With the parsnip seeds in my pocket, I grab my garden hoe and start making a small plot. While I don't have a scarecrow as of yet, hopefully this isn't big enough for the crows to want my parsnips.

Planting each seed in the small garden, I lean my garden hoe against the porch before picking up the old watering can. Dunking it into the small pond next to the house I water the freshly planted seeds.

Setting it down and looking at the small garden, and the first seeds to be planted since my arrival. Nodding slightly to myself, checking my watch and seeing now it's a little after 9.

Heading towards town after brushing off as much of the dirt as I could while heading to the gate. Slipping the gloves off of my hands, I shove them in my pocket for later.

Walking passed the bus stop that I was at just yesterday I continue making my way to the square. My boots crunching the dirt underneath my feet as I slowly make my way into town.

Stopping as I get to the cobblestone square I look around. There's a large red circle painted on the ground. Tilting my head slightly as I look at it before hearing my name.

"(Y/n)!"

Jumping slightly I look over to find Mayor Lewis walking over to me from in front of the saloon.

"Starting your first impressions already I see."

"I just hope I'm not too dirty after planting those parsnip seeds you left, thank you for those by the way."

He smiles as he gives a single nod. "You're welcome, I was wanting to let you know that there are 28 total people in the town, you've already met myself and Robin. Hopefully you can find everyone and introduce yourself."

Nodding gently as he started to walk off I hum a little. 28 total people in Pelican Town? That's more than I thought there'd be. Looks like I'll have to get over my social anxiety,  I can't stay on the farm to myself and hide.

Rubbing my cheek for a moment as I glance around the square, behind me back towards the small side street that heads back to the farm, I see a blue and white building with a matching blue cross at the top. Standing there as my eyes move to the next building next to it. A brown building that says 'Pierre's' in bold lettering on the front.

Shoving my hands in my pockets I sigh, the feeling of being overwhelmed lingering over me slightly. Walking over I decide that I'll check the small clinic later, I could use some more seeds for now. Walking into the small store as the bell sounds on the door. Glancing around I see an older man with glasses, light brown jacket, and matching short hair behind the counter. He looks up and smiles as I make my way over to him, glancing at the various shelves of goods he had to offer.

"Hey, it's Ms. (y/n), the new farmer! I'm Pierre, owner of the local general store."

Smiling at me he pauses for a second before he speaks again.

"If you're looking for seeds my shop is the place to go. I'll also buy produce from you for a good price! A little agriculture could really inject new life into the local economy!"

Nodding gently I smile at him. "That's good to know, I'll bring any good produce that I have an abundance of to you in the future." Watching him beam in delight in my response he nods.

Turning to his seeds display, I start picking through them, deciding on some more parsnips, green beans, and a little cauliflower to start out with. Cashing out I wave gently before heading to the other shelves to see what there was. That was before a young pale girl came out of a door that I assumed went to the living portion of the building. She stops at the counter at the far right of Pierre and stands there as she looks at a few things.

Walking over to her slowly, I get her attention.

"Oh, that's right... I heard someone new was moving into that old farm. It's kind of a shame, really. I always enjoyed exploring those overgrown fields by myself."

She looks at me a little disappointed that my arrival to Pelican Town was more than a rumor that had spread.

"You can always visit, I've been trying to clean it up and get things started so it wont be as messy, but you can still explore, just be careful."

She gives a slight smile as she nods. "I'm Abigail, that sounds like it could be nice."

Smiling at her I get my attention pulled away as the door that she came out of opened once more, this time an older woman with green hair came out of the door.

She came over to us and smiles, Abigail making a fairly quick getaway out of the front door.

"Hello! You must be (y/n), the new farmer. I'm Caroline. My husband runs the general store here, and have you met my daughter Abigail? She's the pale one with the purple hair."

Smiling as she does I nod. "I've met Pierre already, before buying some seeds from him, then I met Abigail shortly before you came over. It's nice to meet you."

A smile grows on her face as she nods. "Thank you for deciding you want Pelican Town to be your new home."

Giving a slight wave as she went to stock a few shelves. Noticing someone looking at another shelf, he's a little larger than the rest and wearing an orange cardigan. Walking over to him I wave.

"Hi, I'm (y/n)"

"Hello, there. I'm the chef and owner of the Stardrop Saloon. I'm getting supplies for the Saloon."

He chuckles to himself heartily

"Pierre's got the good stuff!"

Nodding slightly I smile. "I bought some seeds from him a few moments ago, I'll get more when I can."

Waving again I turn back to the glass doors and step out onto the cobblestone street once more. This time the town being a little more lively as everyone is making their way out of their homes. Turning I decide this is the time to go into the clinic. Before I notice an older lady with a green dress. Walking over to her she smiles at me.

"Ah, Mayor Lewis told me you just arrived. I'm Marnie! I sell livestock and animal care products on my ranch. You should swing by sometime."

"Sounds good, I'll be sure to stop by soon."

Opening the door to the clinic I'm met with the sound of a small bell, and a smell that was a mix of iodine, and coffee. Taking a small wiff of the air, focusing on the coffee aroma. Hearing a voice I look over to see a darker skinned girl in a nurses uniform, her pinkish red glasses standing out against the white uniform.

"Oh! Aren't you the one who just moved in? I'm Maru, I've been looking forward to meeting you!"

Stepping over to the counter she smiles at me from the other side. "You know, with a small town like this, a new face can really alter the town dynamic. It's exciting!"

Before she could speak more, another voice came from behind the counter and through a door.

"Now, Maru. Please don't go off scaring the newcomers."

Feeling my heart quicken slightly as a tall man with brown hair, glasses, and a handlebar mustache came out from behind the exam room doors I stood there.

"I'm sorry, Harvey. I'm just excited she's here."

He chuckles as he puts his coffee down on the counter, the mug still steaming.

"Don't apologize, you know I don't mind it. We just don't want to overwhelm the new farmer."

He turns to me as I stand there stunned at the tall Doctor in the green cardigan.

"It's a pleasure to meet you. I'm the local Doctor. I perform regular check ups and medical procedures for all the residents of Pelican Town, it's rewarding work. I hope you find your own work especially rewarding, in time!"

He smiles at me as his eyes close before he picks up his coffee to sip it.

"I'll make sure to come see you if I hurt myself on the farm."

He smiles as Maru does some filing before I usher myself out of the door to look for more people to greet. Glancing at my watch it's now 11:40. Humming a little I make my way to the blue house that's in front of the general store. Getting to the front there's a boy in a green jacket tossing a football by himself.

Walking over to him I clear my throat slightly. "Um, Hi."

He catches the ball as he stops what he's doing and turns to me before smiling. "Hey. You're the new girl, huh? I think we're going to get along great, I'm Alex, I'll see you around."

Short, sweet, and to the punch he smiles at me before he walks back into the house that I was standing in front of. Blinking for a second before I followed him inside. Feeling weird to walk into people's houses, especially on my first day in town.

Turning the corner to a living room, there's an elderly man in a wheelchair wearing a knit sweater.

"Hmph! It's annoying to have to meet all these new people, huh? Name's George, by the way. Now buzz off!"

Jumping slightly at his brash nature, I blink. "I'm (y/n). It's nice to meet you, George."

He waves me off as his eyes stay glued to the rather loud TV in front of him.

Turning to leave I go out the door and sigh to myself. That was strange as ever.

Seeing a girl in a white shirt, copper colored skirt, and matching hair walk by I walk over to catch her.

"Oh... Hello! I'm Penny."

Smiling at her I nod. "I'm (Y/n). It's good to meet you, Penny."
