Halloween Party

Sam was dressed up as a female Han Solo, which I have to say, she did really good with the makeup. She would look exactly like him if he was actually a chick.

“Sorry, I… I had a dream?” I questioned, confused on what I should even call that event. While I looked out the window as she backed out of the garage, I saw a grey owl in our ancient tree. ‘What a coincidence…Maybe too much of a coincidence.’ I thought and squinted at it, as we drove off to the party.

The whole car ride was silent, with the exception of the songs on the radio. I could tell Sam kept glancing at me throughout the whole trip, and she radiated off worry.

Without even realizing, we were at the party within minutes, and I practically kept the door closed, if Sam didn’t make me leave the car. “C’mon, let’s just have fun, and get it over with. Trust me, you’ll be saying this was a great choice to go!” She enthusiastically said, and dragged me inside the house, which was completely full with angsty teens already.

Almost instantly, anxiety starting kicking in, there had to be 30 teens in just this living room. I could see some of either chatting, dancing, making out, or throwing up in the corner. Sam didn't seem to care for them, though, and pulled me to the kitchen, where we bumped into Frank.

“Huh- oh hey.” Frank smiled at the both of us, taking a sip of whatever was in his red plastic cup. Sam placed her slim and long fingers on my shoulder, “Franky, hey! Fuck, watch my girl, imma go talk to some boys. Wish me luck!” She pushed me towards him, and winked at me before running off somewhere into the crowd.

My anxiety spiked up even more, but I tried to keep my composure. I looked around the room, finding that it was already littered with trash, liquids of the unknown covering the counters. The the cabinets were all opened, cups and plates being thrown around messily. The ground would’ve been noted as new, if it wasn’t for the mud and dirt being drug in from the outside.

Frank looked down at me, “Hey, would you like a drink?” He nodded towards his cup. “Sure, but no alcohol.” I deadtoned, as I did not want to be throwing up everything in a hour.

“Hah, okay. There's only the choice of water, then. That okay?” Frank had opened the fridge, pushing around items for something I could drink.

“Yeah, that's fine.” I nervously chuckled, and looked into the living room. Sam looked to be chatting with two boys already, pulling her hair behind her ears. ‘A few minutes… Yeah, a few hours, Sam.’ I had thought, before Frank handed me a water.

I mumbled a quiet thank you, before I started drinking from it.

It tasted slightly weird, but I brushed it off as my anxiety playing with me. I just needed to calm down, relax, and just have a chat.

“So, the others are most likely with some chicks, right?”

“Who? Oh, Travis! Yeah, I think…” He mumbled, rubbing the back of his neck. “Good,” I sighed, “He'll be off my back for tonight, at least.” Frank laughed, taking a sip from his own cup. Having a person who I can  talk to without having criticism thrown at me, was actually very nice.

“Why are you friends with him, anyway?” I asked, wanting to get it out of my mind. He lowered his cup, looking into the contents in the red plastic container. “He’s been the only person I could trust when I was little. If I suddenly just left him, he’d beat me up, and bully me.” Frank nervously laughed, chugging down his drink.

“Oh, I’m… sorry for asking.” I sipped on my own drink, not knowing how to cut the now very awkward atmosphere. Looking back at me, Frank shook his head, and grinned, “It’s fine. Do you wanna head outside, I think some fresh air will be great?”

I nodded, wanting to just run away from these people, as far as I can. “Yeah, I think that’d be great.”

Frank walked out of the kitchen, throwing his cup in the trash as he left, but I never noticed his cheshire cat grin. I drunk the last of my water, also threw it in the trash, and walked out.

Right as I left the kitchen, I noticed that I was getting dizzy, and felt slightly sick.
