Season one, episode seventeen

HUNTER WAS HESITANT TO BRING SKY'S PREDICTION to the Salvatores. He had seen what helping them did to Bonnie, and he didn't want the same thing to happen to his cousin but, he knew that he could help save lives if everyone worked together in a way that was beneficial to them all. After coming to that conclusion, he decided to bring her to explain what she had seen.

"There was fire, everywhere... and people were screaming, crying, it—.. it was awful." Sky said to them, holding onto her knees as she rocked back and forth. "Lots of people are going to die soon if we don't stop it."

"There's no stopping it, are you joking?" Damon scoffed, rolling his eyes slightly. "First, I don't think she can just see the future, and if she can, she probably seen me setting fire to Pearl's house, and killing all those damn tomb vampires."

"Damon, just hear them out." Stefan was obviously the voice of reason in this situation, Elena staying silent in the corner.

"Hear what out? There's nothing to talk about." The elder Salvatore pushed himself upward, shaking his head.

"Your brothers a dick." Hunter spoke to the younger Salvatore, shaking his head. "Don't ask for my help, Sky's help, and while we're at it, don't ask for Bonnie's help either, okay?"

"You've talked to her?" Elena finally spoke up, her eyes wide at the sound of her friends name.

"Every single day, and she doesn't need to feel like she's doing something wrong by not helping people who can't be helped." The Saltzman boy shook his head lightly, and helped her up from the couch. "Let's just go."

"Stay." Stefan insisted as Damon bent down, hammering in one of the nails on the wooden boards on the windows.

"I say we go down to Pearl's house, bust the doors down, and annihilate the idiot that attacked us last night." The older Salvatore insisted angrily.

By "attacked us" he meant two tomb vampires had come into the Boarding House the night before, hell bent on messing with the brothers.

"Yeah, and then what? We turn to the rest of that house of vampires and say oops i'm sorry?" Stefan questioned.

"Not our problem, this is exactly what Bonnie's grandmother was talking about when she said witches shouldn't be in vampire business, you're all toxic." Hunter kept a look of disgust on his face, taking his cousins wrist into his hand.

"You're not even a real witch, Harry Potter." Damon replied teasingly, Sky looking down as she felt her cousin's grip tighten around her arm.

"But I am." She smiled, waving her hand as she sent the elder Salvatore across the room, the man smashing against the wall.

"Have fun being assholes." Hunter spoke, the pair of cousins heading for the door.

So much for working together.

VISITING BONNIE WAS ONE OF THE ONLY THINGS that ever calmed Hunter down in the slightest. He was upset about what had happened earlier on in the day, and when he got home, he found out something even more upsetting. Alaric was giving Sky a few more days at his house, but explained he couldn't maintain two kids.

So she had to leave.

"I feel like an asshole talking to you about my problems with all you've been through." The Saltzman boy let out a sigh. "But I just hate everything that's going on."

"You can talk to me about these things, i'm fine now, or as fine as I can be." Bonnie reassured him rubbing the boys shoulder. "I have to ask my dad but, maybe she can stay here?"

Hunter's eyes practically lit up like a Christmas tree at his friends words.

"Do you mean that?" He asked innocently, making the Bennett girl laugh.

"Yeah, of course. She deserves to have a place, and you are one of my best friends. I would do anything to help you out." There was a pause that wasn't exactly awkward but it made both of them clear their throats. "Like I would any of my friends, of course."

"Yeah, of course." Hunter laughed slightly, nodding his head. "Thank you, i've never really had someone in my life that would do anything like this for me. It means... everything."

"It's no big, having a girl at the house would be fun anyways." Bonnie smiled lightly, rubbing the back of her neck. "Do you want anything to drink?"

"Water's fine." Hunter cleared his throat yet again as the Bennett girl pushed herself off her bed and exited the room.

He looked over to the dresser where his phone rested, and decided to check if he got a text or two from Caroline or Sky.

He had 50 calls and 78 texts, in the matter of a few hours alone. Some from Caroline, some from Elena, and a ton from numbers that weren't saved in his phone.

"What the hell.." the boy mumbled, pressing on the Forbes girls name waiting for her to answer. He heard breathing on the other end and furrowed his brows, pacing back and forth. "Care? Are you okay?"

"I am now but, do you remember me telling you about Matt's sister, Vicki?" The blonde asked on the other line, her voice shaky making her friend worry.

"Yeah, why? What's up?" Hunter bit the inside of his cheek as Bonnie came back into the room with two cups of water in her hands and a slight smile on her face.

"I found her body." Caroline informed the boy making his heart drop, he knew automatically it had something to do with the Salvatore's, it had to.

"You found your boyfriends sisters body?" His mouth hung open as Bonnie dropped the glasses in her hands on the ground. "Shit, are you okay?"

"My mom has to ask me a few questions, i'll call you back, okay?" The line went completely dead and Hunter tossed his phone to the side, immediately bending down to help the Bennett girl with the broken glass.

"Bon, are you okay?" The Saltzman boy pouted his lips, concerned by the look on her face.

He could tell the girl was lying about being okay the minute she said it but, it was even more clear now as the mention of more death in Mystic Falls surrounded them.

"Yeah, i'm fine." She answered, standing up to go get something from the kitchen.

... but he knew she wasn't.

TELLING SKY THAT SHE WOULD HAVE TO MOVE to the Bennett household wasn't going to be easy. He was all she had left, and vice versa but he felt by making her move, he was letting her down. Of course, he was being unrealistic but, it didn't stop him from being worried about his cousins reaction.

"Hey, kiddo." His smile was there, but it wasn't authentic, and they both could tell.

"What's wrong?" Sky's face dropped at seeing the way he looked, like he was either sad or guilty about something he hadn't even done yet. "Were you the one who used my body wash? Because it's completely fine—"

"No, I uhm—... can we sit and talk about something? It's kind of important." Hunter planted himself on the couch next to the blonde, awkwardly playing with his hands.

"Hunt, you're scaring me." The Laveau girl was never one for suspense, she always wanted any news to be delivered as quickly as possible, to ease any pain she might feel afterward.

"I know that you know, that I love you." The Saltzman boy let out a sigh. "We are family, but with that being said... you aren't family with Alaric, and he doesn't think that you should live here anymore."

When Sky didn't answer, the boy continued, hoping he was delivering this information as easy as possible.

"But, I would never let you go without a roof over your head, so I talked to Bonnie and she suggested you stay there? If you are comfortable with that..." Hunter's hands were sweaty like never before, because Skylyn was one of the only people in his life that he had ever cared about, and disappointing her hurt him.

"I guess that's fine." The Laveau girl sighed, looking downward at her hands.

... and Hunter knew that she was hurt too, but what could he do?
