Norah sniffed and brushed the back of her hand over her nose to clear the snot that appeared, she coughed before looking up when the door opened again. Matt smiled at her before taking his place from before while Foggy moved to the spot behind the desk so Karen had taken a seat next to Norah which Norah was grateful for the contact.

"Foggy and I was just talking and it sounds like was abusive. Is that right?" Matt asks gently tapping the top of his cane, Norah opened her mouth to deny it but she closed it quickly instead she shrugged. "She shrugged Matt," Foggy said which made Norah hunch in on herself. "Did you think you deserved the abuse? From Mr. Warner I mean." Karen asked gently frowning when Norah nodded. "I did, I was useless and I didn't deserve Hugh." Norah shrunk in on herself as she repeated what Hugh has been telling her for years. "Okay, let's try something different." Matt moved so he was sitting on the chair that was opposite Norah.

Matt sighed and put his hands on the armrests squeezing them. "When did he start to change?" Norah raised an eyebrow in confusion before looking at Karen to see if she knew what he was talking about. "He means when did he start acting different, like how far into your marriage because I'm sorry to say but they don't always like the. Not at first." Instead of looking at Karen, Norah starts to play with her fingers letting them rest in her lap.

She deeply exhaled before letting it out. "You're right, he was nice for a year. Well after we were married, we were high school sweethearts. We've been married for 12 years. He never hit me." Norah stuttered before rubbing a hand across her face and looking up in determination. "He just told me the things I needed to hear even though they might've upset me. I didn't shoot him though, I don't know why he did that and I don't know why he said what he said but I didn't shoot him. I would never." As Norah was speaking she didn't notice the sad look on Karen's face but she did notice how Foggy looked upset, almost mad but she shook her head once she was finished talking. "Okay, we know you didn't shoot him. Did you have any friends? Anyone that can help you out, or family?" Matt asked gently, Norah tilted her head before shaking her head. "No, Hugh said it was best that we would spend the first couple of years with just us as a married couple but we've never still gone out there and made friends or anything and Hugh had suggested me that I stay in America because it was would be too painful for me to not go back forever and stay in Taiwan."

In front of her, Matt took a sharp intake of breath before sucking his teeth. "Okay, uh Foggy. I need to talk to you outside." Matt coughed before shakily standing up but Karen didn't make any move to help him even though Norah thought she should. "Yep, we'll be right back," Foggy said quickly before shuffling the paperwork that he brought into the room with him and shoving the chair back quickly that Norah thought it might tip over. Foggy rushed over and opened the door waiting for Matt to walk through it, Norah didn't know where they went though because as soon as they were through the door Foggy closed it quickly. "Did I say the wrong thing? I wasn't careful with my words, Hugh's always told me that I need to watch what I say." Norah didn't notice but her hand drifted up to her upper arm and she started to scratch unknowingly.

Karen smiled before reaching towards Norah and grabbing the hand that she was scratching with, but instead of letting go like Norah thought she would Karen just kept a hold on her hand which was nice. "No, you did nothing wrong. They just had to fill out some paperwork, I need to ask you though. Did Hugh ever tell you things that you made you sad?" Karen spoke gently like she was speaking to a child but Norah didn't notice it at the time. "Yea, but he always said that I deserved so I sucked it up. He never liked to see me crying so I never cried even though I wanted to."

Norah's finger twitched in Karen's hand so she let go and grabbed her notepad before writing something down, a phone dinged and Karen grabbed it out of her purse before frowning at whatever she saw. "Is something wrong?" Norah can't help but ask, she was always told by Hugh that if someone in the room with you is on their phone that usually, it's about you. "No, everything is fine. We just a trial date for you, next week. They put a rush on everything because of how high-powered Hugh is." Norah's breath hitched and her finger twitched, unknowingly her hand started to reach for her shoulder to start to scratch again but Karen took her hand gently and squeezed it with a smile on her face.

She lifted her head when the door started to creak open, Matt came in the room with a stack of files but Norah didn't see Foggy behind him which made Norah think she did something wrong. "Where's Mr. Nelson? Did I do something wrong?" Both Matt and Karen started to shake their hands quickly. "Absolutely not, Foggy just had to go because a pipe burst in his place, and his husband isn't home to fix it." Norah looked up from where she was picking at a thread on her top. "Did you say, Husband? I- Hugh told me that was frowned upon." Matt frowned at Norah before shaking his head quickly. "Some people don't like it but it's completely normalized. I'm bi and my partner is gay, while-" Instead of saying anything else Matt gestured towards Karen who nodded. "I'm a lesbian, so it's completely normal. I promise." Norah frowned but nodded and folded her hands together so she doesn't ruin Karen's top anymore. "Now, I'm sure Karen told you that your trial was moved to next week so I need to run through some things."

Norah listened to Matt intensely because she knew that she wasn't a murderer, she still loved Hugh but this was his fault and now he isn't around to defend her as he should.
