It was a normal day-well, for me, at least. I ran around, ignoring the tingling feeling in my upper back. "Fairie!" Mom called. "It's time to greet the guests!"

I didn't understand why Mom had to invite all of her and Dad's friends just for my 16th birthday. I mean, it was just another birthday, right?

I ran inside the castle, where I was greeted by my personal maids, Annie and Sakura.

"Quick, miss! We have to get you ready for the ball!" The exclaimed. Oh, did I mention that Mom and Dad threw me a ball too? No? Well now you know!

I huffed in annoyance, and surrendered myself to the evil gods of makeup and corsets.

I dashed quickly down the stairs to meet my parents.

"Mom! Dad! Help! Robin stole my staff again!" I whined. I specialized in magic that involved casting complicated spells, so I couldn't use a wand(they couldn't contain much magic before they broke), and using my bare hands were out of the question!(magic casted from bare hands were unstable) But my stupid 10 year old brother just had to take it!

"Now now, Robin. You know not to take your sister's staff." Dad reprimanded him, and I glared at him with a smug smirk on my face. Taking my staff back, I twirled around in my pearly white dress for Mom to see.

"How pretty, Fairie!" Mom exclaimed. "The seamstresses really outdid themselves this time!"

"I know, right?" A familiar voice called.

  My heart fluttered. "Vincent!" I threw my arms around my fiancé, one of the few people that I trusted, not that I didn't trust my citizens, but I didn't know them as well as I did Vincent. He was the son of Auntie Lissana and Uncle Natsu. Of course he wasn't related to me by blood, it was just that Mom treated Auntie like her sister.

  I kissed his cheek and smiled. "Let's go! I'm getting hungry." I complained playfully, and we held hands as we opened the grand doors.
