The next death you had to experience was years later.

Though the human hunting decree felt ancient by that point, monsters were still hesitant to hurt humans.

So when a gun holding child made their way through the Underground, many fell to their shots.

One of those who were unfortunate enough was Indarra. Though Undyne managed to finish off said human, the damage was still done. And when you tried to help, she made it clear she wanted to be alone.

You respected that of course, giving her the space she needed and being there for Gaster, who wasn't doing well after his old friends death.

But even then, life and time aren't still. They run on, caring not for the people and things that were left behind or destroyed.

And so, you and Gaster had to move on, for the sake of your little boys.

Speaking of them, they weren't so little anymore.

They grew up, way too fast for your liking. Before you could blink, they went from little kids to young adults with goals and ambitions.

Papyrus hit a growth sprout, almost reaching his dads height. Though now a lot older, his sweet personality remained and he made it his goal to join the Royal Guard and protect Asgore. You were supporting him on every step of the way, even if you knew that he was unable to hurt a fly.

Sans on the other hand? He felt almost like an opposite to his younger brother. He ended up being quite short, though it didn't discourage him at all. He was the calm to Papyrus's endless energy and even now was just as protective of the younger as he was when you first met.

His mind turned out to be just as briliant as Gaster's. He had a knack for machines, technology and everything in between.

Your lover was proudly crying when Sans was officially announced as his assistant. With their two minds combined, it was no surprise that The Core was working perfectly, giving monsters an answer to many worries and questions that once littered their minds.

You couldn't have been more proud of them.

Though, some things didn't feel right. It felt as though something bad as on the horizon, but every time your worries would be proven foolish after the entire day goes on with nothing bad happening.

Today was one of these days. You woke up to an empty bed and Gaster already getting ready for work, with Sans right behind him.

The nagging feeling at the back of your mind was the strongest it was yet, making your stomach turn and for you to feel like panicking.

"Gaster?" You called out quietly from the sofa you were now sitting at, your boyfriend turning around and finishing putting on his coat.

"Yes love? Is everything okay?" He asked, noticing the worry that was written all over your face.

You hesitated for a second. Maybe it was just you being overprotective? Maybe the feeling was just nothing again? But what if it wasn't and you would be halfly responsible for something bad happening to your family.

Taking a breath, you finally spoke up.

"I... I have a bad feeling about this. Maybe you should stay home today?" You looked, into his eyes, pleading for him to not go.

Gaster sighed softly, walking over to you and giving you a hug.

"It's all right angel. I'll be fine okay? Besides, I have Sans with me right? I'll see you in the evening and then we can talk about your feelings and try to see what's causing them all right?" You nodded quietly at his words, nuzzling closer into his neck and letting him kiss your forehead.

"Promise?" You mumbled out, your voice muffled by his clothing.

Gaster chuckled softly, his grip on you tightening.

"Promise."

With that, you finally let him go, watching as he and Sans teleported away, hoping that he was right.

And for some time, he was. The feeling was pushed to the back of your mind as hours passed and nothing bad happened.

You were making dinner by that point, with the help from Papyrus, who was more in the way that helping, considering his cooking skills were nonexistent.

You didn't have the heart to tell him no though and it was a welcomed distraction from your completely unreasonable fear.

And then, as sudden as a flash, the feeling grew worse. It made you stumble, grabbing onto the counter to keep balance and your hand shooting to grip your heart. The world was spinning, your breaths heavy and tears welling up in your eyes.

"MUM? MUM ARE YOU OKAY?" The panicked voice of your son came muffled to you, overshadowed by the ringing in your ears.

"I'LL BRING YOU SOMETHING! HOLD ON!" Papyrus ran out of the kitchen while you pressed your wings against your body in the search of comfort.

This feeling was too big, it was hurting, it was scaring you, it was...

Gone.

You blinked, the world suddenly being back to normal. Your vision didn't spin anymore and you stood up from leaning against the counter, keeping your balance as you did any other day.

And although a very quiet part of the feeling remained, it was in the back of your mind and it was soft enough to be easily ignored again.

That... That was something you haven't experienced before and had no idea what it could mean.

Confused, you walked out of the kitchen and back into the living room, about to sit on the couch when the front door was slammed open.

You jumped, head snapping to look at the intruder.

Sans's lab coat was torn and dirty, his gaze panicked as he stumbled into the house.

"Sans! What happened to you?! Are you okay?!" You rushed over to him, your eyes practically scanning him over to look for any injuries.

"The Core... It had... A meltdown" He rasped out as you helped him sit down on the couch.

You turned to the door, your blood running cold as the words processed in your head.

"And where's-?" You didn't finish, Sans avoiding your gaze being enough of an answer for you.

"He's... He's gone..." The words felt alien on your tongue, like something that should never be said. And in a sense, it was supposed to.

Your knees buckled under you, bringing you down onto the floor. New wave of tears fell down your face.

This felt like a nightmare. No! It had to be a nightmare! You were going to wake up at any moment to Gaster sleeping soundly right beside you and you'd be able to wake him up with soft kisses like you always did when waking first.

You pinched your arm.

Nothing.

You pinched it again, harder.

Nothing.

Your skin turned red in the spot you were practically abusing now, desperately trying to wake up from reality.

A boney hand stopped you from pinching your skin again, you looking up at the equally tearful face of your son.

Your hand slowly fell to your side, the feeling of desperation replaced with helplessness. You wrapped your wings around you, searching for the slimmer of comfort they always provided.

It felt wrong. It felt alien. Those were not the familiar arms of the man you loved. That was not the feeling of comfort that was there mere hours ago before he left.

Those were just cold black feathers.

It wasn't him.

It was never going to be him again.

He was gone.

Your lover.

Your sunshine.

Your Fallen Angel.

THE END

A/n

We did it guys. We official did it. After 42 chapters of plot and additional 7 of random bullcrap from me, it is finally done.

After almost 3 full years, I'll be able to officially click that 'Finished' button.

This honestly feels surreal. This book has been a part of my life for what feels like forever now.

And even if I cringe at every chapter before their kiss, both because of grammar and basically dead timeline, I'm still proud of it. And, proud of myself.

I just want to thank you. Thank you for getting to this point, thank you for powering through me using the wrong you're, continuously misspelling words and having no beta reader at all.

No matter if you had been here since the beginning, or binge read this when it was already finished, thank you, for being what kept me writing.

I know I say this a lot, but you truly are what kept me writing. What kept this book alive. I was so sure that this book would just be left to rot after I get bored with the premise and leave it at 10 chapters at best.

And yet, the support that it got, even during it's cringiest moments made me determined to finish this book. All the comments I'd re-read over and over again because They were hilarious or sweet, my mornings being made because I woke up to a mountain of stars or kind words.

I might have been the one to plant this seed, but you were the water and sun it needed to survive.

I know this is getting long and I'm sorry, but it just feels surreal to me.

I'll be honest I'm close to tears by this point and I'll probably cry when officialy marking this book as complete.

If Undertale is all you came here for and this is the end of our shared journey, then goodbye. Be well and continue being the amazing person that you are and thank you for your time.

If you decide to stay for my other books, then I hope the next journey will be just as rewarding to you as this one and maybe one day, we shall revisit this book together in a re-write or a sequel.

And now, for the last time in this book, the author says goodbye!
