Grace's POV:

The day after goes by quickly and Julie and I race home to tell dad about us getting back into the music program. When we walk in the front door we close set our bags down softly before slamming the door and hugging him. He laughs at this. "Good, you're home." He says.

I look at all the papers surrounding us. "What's all this?" I ask. "Ah, just, you know, some stuff on other schools with music programs, and...and some private lesson stuff. I know it looks like a mess, but your dad's got this." He says. I grin and nod for Julie to give the news.

We pull away from him. "Well, luckily for you we got back in at our school." She says nonchalantly. His expression brightens immediately. "Wait. Wait what? You two aren't joking  me right now?" He asks. I shake my head.

"We went down and put on a show with some ghost...go getters! Real go getters, and Principal Lessa let us back in." I explain. "Yes! Yes!" He says, throwing the papers in his hands into the air. "I am so happy for the both of you. You are the best!" He says.

Then he seems to remember that we have to pick up the papers on the ground and kneels. We do as well. "I got it. I got it." He tells us. Julie picks up a pamphlet. "The Australian school of Music?" She asks. I smile at this. "I would fly you home for Christmas." He insists.

We jsut laugh and head up stairs. "Hey, you two rock. You're the best." He says. We just smile down and continue upstairs. "Any word from Flynn?" I ask. "No, you?" She asks. I shake my head. "Man, what are we gonna do?" She asks. Suddenly I hear music. I roll my eyes.

"The boys are at it again." I say. "Let's go." With that the two of us head to the garage. "Guys, you aren't supposed to be playing alone." Julie reminds Luke and Reggie. Alex is nowhere to be seen. "But we're not alone, cause we always have each other." Reggie says with a grin.

We walk into the garage further and Julie unplugs the amps. "But we had the volume level on one." Luke insists. "But we rocked it on level ten. Wanna hear us again?" Reggie asks. Julie just gives him an unimpressed look and unplugs the other amp.

"I really don't think she does. What about you Grace?" Luke asks me. I shake my head and walk over to stand by Julie. They shake it off quickly. Both of their faces spread into wide, excited grins.

"We've actually been waiting for you two to get home. Ok, so we have some pretty major news to tell you. We had a band meeting earlier, and...we want to invite the both of you to join Sunset Curve, and no, you're not dreaming." Luke says, a happy look on both his and Reggie's faces.

I hate that I can't say yes right now. "Oh." Julie says. "Oh? She said oh. Oh is for when you get socks on your birthday, not when you're offered to join the most epic band ever." Luke says. He looks at me, hope in his eyes. I give him a sad smile.

"I'm really sorry guys, but I think I speak for both of us when I say that we need to hash things out with Flynn before we even consider joining the band." I say. Julie nods. "Yeah, you two are in a tough spot. So do you want to join the band?" Luke asks.

"Read the room dude." Julie says, walking towards the exit of the garage, dragging me with her. Luke and Reggie look desperate now. You can tell that they didn't except us to even hesitate on joining the band.

"Oh come on. We need you and you need us because you need music. We an unfinished song Grace wrote and Reggie and I added a really cool melody to it. It sounds awesome." Luke says. My eyes widen when I see him pull out my song journal.

"Is that my song journal?" I ask, angry that he would take it. "Psh, no." He says, backing away from me. "Give it back! You can't just take that! There are some private things in there!" I yell as I start chasing him around the room, trying to get my journal.

We finally stop when I realize we're running around a piano and I'm not getting it our before he wants me to have i. "No! Hey, you need to realize how insanely talented you are! Ok? Listen to this." He say, staring directly into my eyes. I blush and look down. He opens the journal.

I go to snatch it, but he holds it back. "If somebody hurts you, I'm gonna get hurt too." He says, continuing to stare into my eyes. "And my life, my life would be real low, zero, flying solo." "Oh-oh." Reggie adds at the end.

"That's a killer melody." Luke says, never breaking our eye contact for a second. "I wrote that about Flynn when she started helping Julie and I with our mom stuff." I say, tears come to my eyes. Luke's face shifts from serious to guilt and sorrow. "I gotta go." I say. "Me too." Julie adds.

"Grace..." Luke trails, but we're already out of the garage. I quickly get my emotions under control. I have to. I can't focus on being in a band when my best friend wants nothing to do with me. I can only hope Julie and I aren't too late  for making up.

I don't know what I would do without Flynn. She's been there for us every step of the way and we repay her by lying to her. We really are horrible friends. All we cane do now is find Flynn, apologize, and hope she accepts it. There really is no plan b.
