Whoo! Another chapter! I will have another chapter up by Monday too!

I changed my story plans just now, like literally, I will explain at the end of the chapter. Anyways, busy weekend, I'll try to find time to stream, as I want to finish up those drawings ASAP, because I've made people wait so long D:

Falling to Rise

Chapter 24

"Control your emotions so your emotions do not control you"

~~~~~
"So, um, your friend... Who is he?" Seto asked timidly as the three of them walked swiftly through the camp.
"Oh, he's been a friend of mine for many years now. In fact, there are five founders, including myself, they like to call themselves Nites," Jordan laughed.
"Knights?"
"Yeah, Nites, it's really this silly little name they all came up with a few years back, but it's kind of what we call ourselves. Now three of them are unfortunately away undercover at the moment, but besides myself, there is Wag. He's the one we're going to see."
**A/N I did this for you Disco! MIANITE**
"Is he...well, a sorcerer too?" Seto wished to know, if he came from Vragan and could help him control his powers, does that mean he could use magic too?
"Well... It's kind of complicated, you should ask him yourself... Ah, here we are, watch your step," Jordan opened the door to a small tiny building that actually housed a set of stairs leading downwards. The passage way was lit as Jordan led the way down, "Don't mind any funny smells, it's how the place usually smells."
The closer they got to the bottom of the stairs, the more the place began to smell like honey and eggs, and Seto believed he could also smell smoke, but very faint. He wrinkled his nose at the odd combination of sweet and non-sweet. He could hear Ian walking silently behind them, he felt a little unsettled. How was he? What did he think of Seto now? Even after sticking up for him, Seto still didn't feel any different, did Ian still hate him for what he is?
Down at the bottom of the stairway was a door, an iron door. Jordan pulled the handle of the door and it slowly creaked open, he held the door open and beckoned the two of them in. He followed in after and the door swung shut by itself.
Seto found himself in the lead of this very narrow, very cramped hallway that could only fit a single file line, "Just keep going straight, I'll tell you where to go from here."
Seto nodded and kept walking, the torches flickered in their stands and his shadow bounced across the walls. He noticed the walls were very plain cobblestone, and there appeared to be many doorways, each branching off into another hallway or room. Seto felt he was in a maze, and if it weren't for Jordan's occasional 'turn right here' or 'keep going straight until...' Seto would find himself horribly lost.
For a long moment, Jordan gave no direction of where to go and Seto was almost worried that maybe he was lost too, until he could see the end of the hallway up ahead, "It's just through that door, Wag should be there." Seto nodded and the moment when he was about to open the door, the door slammed open and the loud thundering noise caused Seto to jump back and stumble.
Ian caught him without batting an eye and Seto's heart thumped in his chest at the horrible fright he was given. His body shook as the figure who opened the door stood in front of them carrying a bottle filled with a dark red liquid. The figure was cloaked in a dark grey cloak that touched the ground and covered his body, a shadow hung over his face but what frightened Seto the most were the red stains along his cloak.
"Jordan?" The voice coming from the mysterious figure was not at all the voice Seto had expected to hear. It wasn't deep and menacing, it was more light and kind, "Oh, I wasn't expecting any visitors."
"Ha ha! Sorry Wag, didn't mean to drop by without warning, something came up we would like to speak to you about," Jordan answered Wag from the very back of their three person line. Seto regained his footing and listened to their conversation. Wag pulled down his hood with his free hand and Seto got a better look at Wag's face.
His skin was pale but not like his kind of pale, he had red eyes, a much lighter color than Ty's and brown hair similar to Jason's. What caught his eye the most was the striking red marks that traveled from the bottom of his eyes down his neck and disappeared under his clothes. Seto was very curious what they were, he'd never seen anything like them.
"Oh, well don't just stand there, come in, come in!" Wag walked back into the the only room Seto had seen with a door and with a slight push from Ian Seto took a step in.
~~~~~

"Ha, like I said, I wasn't expecting visitors anytime soon, so don't mind the mess...or the smell," Wag laughed as he watched Seto wrinkle his nose at the strong, overbearing smell... he couldn't even tell. It was too strong to pinpoint any one type or multiple type of smell to describe it.

The bottle with the red liquid in Wag's hand began to bubble and for a moment Wag stood there before hopping around in a panic, "Oh dear Notch! I forgot I had this!!" He shouted and ran in circles with little clue of what to do. The bottle exploded and Wag was coated in a red stain. Red smoke lingered around him and Wag coughed and set what little of the bottle he had left on a table. "Aw shoot, there goes that potion."

Seto realized that the red stains probably weren't what he thought the were at first, but might just be whatever just exploded on him. He called it a potion, right?

"What is a potion," Ian inquired.

"A potion is a," Wag coughed and waved the smoke away before walking and exchanging his cloak for another hanging on a wall, "is a liquid brewed to give living creatures temporary qualities. Things like weakness, or strength, or even health regen."

"Is it magic?" Seto asked. He looked around the room and saw many odd and peculiar things. Shelves carrying many bottles, books stuffed with paper, tables with odd looking stands carrying more bottles, weird plants and such. Everything about this place seemed odd and magical.

"Yes... and no, the art of brewing points was discovered by sorcerers many, many years ago, but you don't need magic to do it. You could pick anyone in the world and teach them how to brew potions. It's a learnable, non-genetic skill, unlike most magics."

Seto could feel his heart skip a beat, not just because this guy might be able to help him, but also because of the wondrous information spouting from his mouth. Like music to his ears to be learning again, just like when his father used to tutor--

Right.... His father...

Seto didn't hear as Jordan and Wag embarked on conversation until he heard his named called several times, "Seto, Seto."

Seto looked up from his trance, "Wag here has agreed to help you."

"Ah! Thank you, thank you so much!" Seto grinned happily.

"No problem, we can get started now if you'd like."

"S-sure." Seto stood awkwardly before Wag motioned him over.

"We'll leave for now, but we'll come back before the sun sets," Jordan waved and Ian followed him.

Now it was just Seto and the sorcerer, or he assumed sorcerer.

"Do you have anything to write with or on, I always find learning better if I write what I learn down."

At first Seto was going to say no, but then he remembered his father's journal, "Well I have a journal, but it was my father's. I'm not sure if it has any empty pages."

"Was your father a sorcerer?" Seto nodded, "Was the journal hidden when you received or found it?" Seto nodded again, "May I see it?"

Seto crouched down and pulled out the journal from inside his boot, his hand trembled when his eyes fell upon it, "S-sorry if it smells."

Wag waved his comment off as Seto handed him the book. Wag opened the book and skimmed through the pages, "Hey! Looks like your dad was looking out for you. This journal is filled with all sorts of magical information, so why don't we start with what is written here?"

"O-ok." Wag handed the small journal back to him and Seto saw the same scratchy writing of his father, tears welled up as he looked at it. Seto blinked away the tears and put a determined face on instead, "L-let's do this!"

"That's the spirit! Come on, take a seat."

~~~~~
Seto was learning a lot from Wag. Even though he remarks that the journal is incomplete of all information, he said this was a good start as any. They were still covering the first few pages, which listed some rules and such.
But one thing did bother him, but he decided not to bring it up, since he was reading ahead as Wag taught him about emotions. He should be listening since this applied to him the most it would seem.
"...as I said before a sorcerer must be confident and focused for any magic to properly work. Which is why it is important to act with focus and not emotion." Seto lacked confidence, he knew that.
"Though naturally sorcerer are more emotional than a non magic user, as magic puts an emotional and physical strain on the body. So sorcerers are more likely to let their emotions control them, but it is important we don't let them."
"Why is that?"
"Simple," Wag pointed at the book, "Your father wrote the effects of the lack of control of emotions..., here." Wag pointed at them and Seto glanced down to read them.
Minor causes:
~~~A release of unused, wasted magic~~~

~~~Undesired results~~~
~~~Exhaustion or unconsciousness~~~

~~~Temporary loss of magic~~~
Extreme causes:
~~~Permanent loss of magic~~~

~~~Mental harm~~~
~~~Harm to the outside world~~~

~~~Harm to self or surrounding people~~~
~~~Death~~~

Seto almost thought he heard Wag mutter that he wish he'd knew this.

"What did you say?"

"Oh nothing, nothing at all, have you read them all?"

Seto nodded, "Great, the one thing every sorcerer needs to learn, is that emotional control is very important. Without it, you'll do more harm than good."

Seto nodded, he could list all the times he did something due to his emotions. When he saved Adam and the seal broke. When he tried to free himself from hanging but only freed his arms, when he attacked Ivon. There were more, but these were the most significant ones that came to mind.

"Alright, now about--"

"Hey Wag, I have a quick question."

"Hmm?"

"Do you think we can skip rule 3 and look at rule 4. I was hoping you could explain what it means." Seto wasn't trying to rush anything, but something didn't feel right, Seto could assume this journal was written soon after he left for Emedo. Seto knew every nook and cranny of his home and the stone Seto found the journal behind wasn't loose when he left, he could say that with 100% certainty. So if this was more likely written after he left, then this couldn't possibly be true, or at leas shouldn't apply to him.

"Sure, it's really simple and shouldn't be too confusing. It's exactly as your father wrote it. Gifts in magic are always discovered by the age of 8 or younger."

"But, if that is true..." Seto trailed off, why did he only discover his a few months ago. It didn't make sense.

"Is something wrong?"

"N-no, it's nothing, but hypothetically, what if someone didn't discover their powers until they were an adult?"

"Didn't discover until...well that's impossible."

"I-I know, but hypothetically, what would you believe would be the cause of that?"

"Hmm, well once again it is impossible, but if someone were to believe that they discovered their magic as an adult and not as a child. I would say magic was used to lead to that belief. For example the use of the Minor Illusion, or Major Telepathy. Either one of those could convince someone of that belief. But how such magic stays in effect is something we haven't gotten into, along with the different sects of magic."

"Oh," Seto still didn't understand fully but, did that mean someone--his father perhaps--made him believe in such fact. How long has he had magic, and why would his father make him believe he didn't have any.

"Hey Wag!" Jordan came in through the doorway silently, "It's just about sunset."

"Alright, you should probably head home to wherever that is. Come back tomorrow if you'd like, same time of day too, I don't mind. And go ahead and read ahead in the journal, you can ask me clarifying question tomorrow."

"Thank you so much for all the help," Seto bowed as he made his way over to Jordan with the journal in hand. Wag waved goodbye as the two of them left through the door. The door closed behind them and they walked silently through the narrow hallways.

Jordan interrupted the silence, "Did you ever ask Wag if he was a sorcerer?"

"H-huh, n-no," Seto meant to ask, but the time never came.

"Well, I suppose I can say this..." Jordan stopped walking, he stopped in the perfect position far enough from any torches that the light from one behind him reflected and cast dark shadows across his face. It was scary as he quietly spoke, "He was a sorcerer, but he lost his magic because of a grave mistake he made, hence the marks on his face, signs of a curse."

"A-a curse? Wh-why are you telling me his?" Seto backed up on step.

Jordan's face lightened, "Call it woman's intuition," he snickered quietly at that last part, "I just have a feeling that you should be careful, you have an amazing gift Seto. So be careful what you do with it, it would be terrible for you to lose that gift."

With that Jordan continued leading Seto down the hallway, but it wasn't until a few seconds after that Seto began to follow him again. Wag was cursed? By what, and how? Seto guessed the only way to learn anything would be to keep coming back to learn more and more. So he would only have his father's journal to read from until then.

~~~~~
Funny story, I wasn't going to put in the Mianite people, but I saw how many people wanted or theorized it so I was like sure, why not.
So originally, Tom, Tucker, Sonja, and Wag weren't in the story. In fact, Wag's character was originally played by a non-youtuber, crazy, kooky, old man.
And FYI, Tom, Tucker, and Sonja are only mentioned, for now they aren't really in the story, but they may play a part farther in the future.
But now, Seto is finally learning things!! :D
Can't wait, big things are gonna happen now~
Part 2 is almost done
