Boredom

I let out a bored sigh, hanging upside down on the couch. "You must stay indoors," Dad's voice echoed in my head. "It's safer this way." What did that mean? Snowdin's a nice town, no one does bad things as far as I knew. What did I need to hide from? I started to hum, one of my nervous ticks. Dad often hummed too, so I think I got it from him.

Speaking of Dad, the tall skeleton walked into the house, mumbling and signing to himself. It was hard to tell what he was saying from here. "Hi Dad!" I called cheerfully. He turned, snapping out of his thoughts. "Oh, hello Papyrus...!" he smiled, his voice much quieter than mine. Then again I had a naturally loud voice, so a lot of people were quieter than me. I got off the couch before following him into the kitchen. He poured himself a cup of coffee. "Hey Dad, um, can I go outside?" He frowned, then took a sip. That's probably a no...

"I've told you, you need to stay-" I interrupted him. "Inside so it's safe, I know..." He quietly sighed, then reached out a hand and patted my head. I couldn't help but smile a little at that. But I had a question on my mind. "How come I have to sit in here all day while Sans gets to go outside with you?" He glanced at his coffee mug, as if thinking of something, then looked back to me. "Your brother is helping me with very important... science-y things."

"Well, can I help, too?" Again, he glanced at the mug, but didn't look back at me again. "I'm sorry, but... No." I looked at the floor sadly. Without realizing, I started twirling the end of my scarf, my other nervous tick. I got an idea and looked back up at him, hopeful. "Can Sans play with me at least?" He thought for a few moments, then smiled. "I suppose he could use a break..." I loudly shrieked a "yay," causing Dad to jump from the volume of my voice. After recovering from that, he chuckled and exited the house, saying he was going to go tell Sans.

I happily hummed a tune, hopping up and down with excitement. I always loved playing with Sans, even if he did cheat by teleporting. What would we play? Tag? Hide and Seek? I giggled to myself and waited by the door, still hopping. I continued listing fun activities in my head, wondering which would be the most fun. A voice interrupted my thoughts, and I smiled wider. "hey bro. i heard you were getting bored, so let's have some fun!"
