"I had just gotten home from school, when I realized something was wrong," Bella began. "I could smell it in the air. I then walked through the dog door, into the house, but no one was there. I had been home alone before when my family had to go somewhere or do something important. So I was used to it. So I walked into the kitchen and found my food bowl full. Well I ate a few bites, saving some for later. After that, I decided to go lay down to get some rest until my family returned. That's when I found out. I woke up to my youngest family member, Sasha, petting me. But something was wrong. Everyone was sad. I wondered why. So I walked up to put my head on Sasha's dad's leg. Bella. I have something to tell you girl he had said. You might be upset, and we're here for you. Bella, your mom died." Bella finished.

Pumpkin gasped and Fang face was somber. Neither of them had expected Bella's news to be this bad. No wonder Bella was so upset. She had only told Pumpkin and Fang about her mom all the time. Fang walked up to Bella.

"Are you okay?" Fang asked. "I've never seen you so upset before."

"Of course she's not okay!" Pumpkin exclaimed. "She must have been so excited to finally graduate, only to have her heart crushed by her mom dying!"

"It's okay guys. I'm okay, really" Bella told her friends. "It just hit me hard, ya know?"

Fang and Pumpkin nodded. What was it like losing someone you love? Fang had always had Violet and her mom. He also visited his mom, dad, brothers, and sisters whenever he had the chance. So Fang had never experienced a great loss like Bella's. Even so, Fang would care just as much about his friends problems as if he had already experienced them.

"Now let's eat!" exclaimed Pumpkin as he dove into his food. Fang and Bella chuckled and started eating their own food too.
