*TWO MONTHS LATER*

Beep! Beep! Beep! Fang woke up to his alarm. School! The summer was over, the leaves outside turning a golden brown, and it was finally time to go back to school!

Fang both did, and didn't want to go back to school. He couldn't wait to see his friends again, but Fang didn't want the summer to end. Over the summer, Fang went to summer camp for two weeks, went camping with Pumpkin and Bella about a month ago, and also swam in the lake by his house as much as he could. Man did he love water!

Fang jumped out of bed and went down the stairs. The first person he saw as he came down the stairs, was Violet.

"Hey, you're up!" Violet exclaimed. "Are you ready for your first day of school again?"

"Yes and no," Fang told Violet. "I want to see my friends again but I don't want the summer to end."

"I know what you mean," Violet responded. "But you can still see your friends at school. Although not if they have other plans..."

Fang nodded and walked into the kitchen with a full bowl of kibble waiting for him. He gulped down the food gratefully and turned to his water bowl for a drink. After a drink of water, Fang said goodbye to Violet, and walked outside to walk to school. Since he had done very well in school the previous year, Fang was allowed to walk to school this year. He wasn't such a little puppy anymore.

Fang's walk to school was full of excitement. A squirrel rushed by, but Fang didn't chase it. Although a fire truck went by blasting its sirens as the cars pulled over to let it through, and Fang itched to chase it. But Fang knew he would just get in the way, and might end up in the pound. So Fang just kept walking until he noticed something. Was the sky darker than when he had left? Although it seemed only to be darker closer to the school. Oh no! Fang thought. I know that smell! Fang ran as fast as he could towards the school. His senses were right. The school was on fire.
