Yamiyo was an empty shell of her former self. Her facial expression remained blank and her body was as still as a statue as she watched her parent's caskets being lowered down into their graves. Thunder rumbled in the grey and overlapping clouds in the sky as it rained.

Standing by her was her family's faithful butler, Alfred Pennyworth, who sported a sad expression throughout the funeral. Many people she had never met or met briefly had come to the funeral, they were ranging from heroes to high ranking business officials. Reporters had come but were told to stay outside the gates of the graveyard as to respect the current time of mourning.

Everyone had worn assortments of black clothing with umbrellas in hand, Alfred held an umbrella up for the both of them though. It had been two weeks since the tragic incident and Yamiyo had been in a state of shock throughout the entire time. She would barely eat and sleep and she hasn't said a word since then.

'HERE LIES TOMASU AND MASA WAYNE' These words would haunt her for a long time, she hated looking at that tombstone but she had to accept the fact that they were gone and nothing could bring them back so she didn't look away.

The funeral had gone on for a while but it had soon ended and Yamiyo immediately made an effort to leave with Alfred right behind her. But Yamiyo was suddenly stopped by someone grabbing onto her arm and Yamiyo turned to see it was Momo looking at her tearfully.

"Y-Yamiyo...I'm sorry..." Momo cried.

Yamiyo stared at her and her surprised expressions had gone back to being blank as she moved her arm from Momo's grip.

"Y-Yamiyo?" Momo asked with a perplexed expression.

Yamiyo didn't respond as she shoved her hands into her coat pocket and continued walking to the graveyard gates.

"Excuse me, Ms. Yaoyorozu." Alfred excused curtly as he caught up with Yamiyo.

Momo watched with a mixture of sadness, shock and confusion with more tears streaming down her face as Yamiyo and Alfred left in a black car.

"I'm sorry honey." Mrs. Yaoyorozu said as she got down to Momo's level and hugged her.

"Does she hate me now mama?" Momo cried.

"No, no, of course not sweet heart. She's just..." Mrs. Yaoyorozu tried to explain.

"She's hurting..." Mr. Yaoyorozu states, walking up to them "We all are."

Mrs. Yaoyorozu wiped the tears brimming in her eyes away "Just give her time honey, you'll see. Yamiyo just needs time to heal and she'll be back to being the same Yamiyo we all know and love right after."

A few days later, Yamiyo sat on the couch in her room while glaring at the fire across from her within the fireplace. It had been like this for a while now, watching the fireplace would be the only soothing thing to her because she no longer felt sad over her parent's death but instead an overwhelming amount of anger towards the man who took them from her.

The door to her room opened and as she expected, Alfred comes in with a tray of food. Every day he would bring her dinner and every day would turn into an argument on why she stopped eating and why she should keep her health up, regardless of her emotional state.

"Dinner Master Wayne." Alfred stated as he walked over to her and placed the tray on the small desk in front of her.

"I'm not hungry Alfred..." Yamiyo states the same thing she had stated yesterday and the day before.

Alfred sighs and gets on one knee, holding onto her shoulder "Master Wayne, I know. I know things are unbearably hard at the moment and what you're going through should not have occurred. I am not asking you to move on, I am simply asking you keep yourself strong because I don't know what I would do if I lost you too."

"Alfred..." Yamiyo mutters in shock.

Alfred gets up and dusts himself off as he moves to the door "I may not be family but I lost two very important people in my life and I will be damned if I watched another destroy herself. So please...eat something, not for my sake but for yours."

With that Alfred was about to leave the room but was stopped by Yamiyo calling out to him.

"Alfred." Yamiyo calls out and he turns to look at her "You are family."

Alfred adopted a shocked expression but soon it turned into a small smile as he left. Yamiyo sighed and started to eat but stopped when she heard a squeak, she turned her head towards the sound and saw a crooked looking rat standing on the rail of an open window in her room.

"Shoo! Shoo!" Yamiyo commanded as she got up and approached the rat which hopped off the railing and ran under her towards her couch "Hey!"

Yamiyo shut her window and turned to see the rat chewing on the steak on her plate "Hey that doesn't belong to you!"

As expected, the rat ignored her and she gritted her teeth and ran towards the rat which picked up the steak with its mouth and scurried out of the room.

Yamiyo ran out of the room and spotted the rat scurrying down the hall, she chased after it and came to a stop when she saw it crawl up the wall and jump onto the attic chain and crawl up into the hole it was connected to.

Yamiyo huffed and walked over to the vase stand, putting the vase down on the ground and dragging the stand under the chain. She jumped onto the stand and grabbed the chain, pulling the stairs down that led into the attic.

She rushed upstairs and looked around for the rat, she knew that she didn't want the steak anymore but she was just tired of things getting taken from her and as petty as it may sound, the rat picked the wrong person to mess with this time.

"Where are you..." Yamiyo muttered as she looked around the dark room until she heard a thud behind her.

She widened her eyes and turned towards the attic window and saw the rat lying dead on the ground with its blood pooling around it as the moon illuminated it through the window. She looked up to see the culprit hanging upside down on the window arch and it was the bat she had seen weeks ago, staring at her with its cold red eyes.

The bat spread its wings and its shadow was made bigger by the moonlight, Yamiyo turned and saw the entire attic had been encompassed by the bat's shadow. Yamiyo turned to face the bat with a fierce glare and clenched fists with a newfound determination.

"Are you sure about this Master Wayne?" Alfred asks as he watched her stare out at Musutafu by the window.

"I'm sure." Yamiyo replies with a nod, not turning to face him.

"To clarify, this decision will be for 10 years?" Lucius Fox, Tomasu's second in command within Wayne Enterprises, asked skeptically as he stood next to Alfred.

"Yes. In 10 years, I will take over Wayne Enterprises but for now I'm leaving you in charge." Yamiyo said.

"And where will you be? What will you be doing?" Lucius asks.

"Preparing." Yamiyo replies.

"Preparing for what, Master Wayne?" Alfred asked.

Yamiyo glares out vengefully at Musutafu "To be the hero this city needs."
