Hoji's P.O.V.

I stayed with Wakiya that night, just like the night before. I didn't want to be alone. I could sense that Wakiya didn't want to be alone either.

I stayed awake half the night, thoughts running through my head. I thought about the day I was attacked and transformed into a fox demon. You'll make a good fox, Flixa had said when she had bitten me and watched as I writhed on the ground, fighting the transformation.

I looked out into the night from the window, wondering where Flixa was now. Did she know Ella? Did she know she was dead?

Suddenly. I heard a cry. It seemed to come from out of nowhere. I looked down and saw a fox standing there, looking up at me. Flixa.

Come down here, now, she said in my mind.

I had no other choice. I grabbed my clothes and pulled them on quietly, glancing at Wakiya every now and again, trying not to wake him. Then I crept out, closing the door softly behind me.

When I got out, I saw a auburn-haired girl standing in front of me. She was wearing a beige coat and under it a short black dress. She wore short black boots on her feet.

"Why are you here, Flixa?" I sighed.

"Ella is dead," she replied. Her voice was rich and silky, like her voice as a fox when she spoke in my mind.

"Yes. What is it to you?" I asked impatiently.

"She was my best friend!" Flixa growled. I stepped back, holding up my arms defensively.

"I'm sorry," I said, hoping she wouldn't attack me. "I wasn't there when she died. I don't know what happened."

"Of course you don't," Flixa said sarcastically.

"Then why are you here? Ella came to steal Valt away from Shu. Are you gonna try and steal me from Wakiya too?"

"You're dating Wakiya?" Flixa leaned in, smirking.

"N-no! That's not what I meant!" I shook my head, flustered.

"I know. I'm taken already. Anyway, I lean the other way when it comes to love."

"So why are you here?!"

Flixa frowned at me. "I'm getting to that. Ok, I'm here to avenge Ella"s death."

"How?"

She thought for a moment. "I don't know," she admitted. "I was sent here by Mekuki, another friend of Ella's. She's not the fighting kind, so she sent me."

"Fight who?"

"I. Don't. Know!" Flixa snapped. "I'm not usually the smart one. I don't come up with plans. That was Ella's job. And Rinkusu's."

"Who's Rinkusu?"

"My girlfriend. She's the sensible one in the relationship. Which isn't saying much because neither of us are sensible. She's just more sensible than me."

"Right... Why did you call me down here?" I was getting really impatient at this point.

"To be sensible. To join me and avenge Ella's death."

"What about my friends? Valt and Shu?"

"They're safe. The Alphas made sure of that."

I didn't know who the Alphas were, but I didn't want to drag this conversation out even longer so I didn't ask.

"Valt killed Ella. Valt's dead." I said simply. "To avenge her death, you'd probably kill Valt. But he's already dead."

Flixa sighed. "Yes, that is a problem. Well, we'll kill the others instead."

"Others?"

"The beyclub."

I froze. I couldn't kill the beyclub! They were my only friends.

"No, Flixa, I'm not doing this."

"But you have to!" Flixa looked at me, making her eyes big to try and look cute. It didn't work on me.

"Do you ever listen? I said no!" I ran away from her, back into the house, back to Wakiya's room.

When I looked out of the window again, Flixa was gone.
