Wakiya's P.O.V.

Hoji stayed at my place that night. I felt afraid that if I left him for even a night, he might suddenly disappear again. I knew that was silly, of course, but I was still scared.

I lay awake, listening to the soft rustle of wind outside. I couldn't sleep. It had been such a suprise when Hoji had just walked in after all these years, but something was different.

I just thought it was because he was part fox now.

I closed my eyes and tried to sleep. When I eventually did, my mind was filled of dreams of Valt and Ella, fighting to the death...

"Wakiya, wake up!" I opened my eyes to see Hoji looking down at me. "You're going to be late for school!"

My eyes shot open. I had forgotten that it was a Friday. I got up and raced around my room, grabbing my clothes. Just then I remembered that Hoji was there, so I politely told him to leave the room so I could get dressed.

I got my clothes on in 2 minutes flat, then ran out of the front door with Hoji.

When we got to school, we headed straight for the roof. Daigo and Rantaro were there waiting. When they saw Hoji, Daigo said, "Hey, Hoji, we haven't seen you in years."

Daigo was my friend along with Hoji before Hoji left, but Rantaro had never met Hoji, and Valt and Shu would never meet him.

"Hi, I'm Rantaro, Wakiya's boyfriend," Rantaro said, putting his arm around me.

I thought I saw a hint of jealousy in Hoji's eyes when Rantaro said this, but I couldn't be sure because it was gone as soon as I saw it, replaced with a smile. "Hi, Rantaro," Hoji said.

Everything was fine from then. We battled eachother for a bit, and then school started so we went to our classes.

Then, before we knew it, school was over. I walked out with Hoji behind me. Suddenly, Rantaro ran in front of us. "Hey, Wakiya, do want to go get ice-cream or something?"

I glanced back at Hoji, you was looking past me at Rantaro. "Um... no thanks, Rantaro," I replied hesitantly.

"Tomorrow then?" Rantaro persisted.

"I'm kinda busy tomorrow, and the next day. Actually, I'm busy every day," I said, pushing past Rantaro.

I didn't want Rantaro anymore. He just kept asking me to go places with him, and I kept having to make up excuses so as to not to go. And now Hoji was here, so I wanted to spend some time with him.

I ran home, with Hoji close behind. Then I ran in the door and up to my room, desperate to be alone with my friend.

I closed the door and turned around to see a black and white fox standing in front of me. It shared some resemblance to Hoji.

"I didn't know you could actually turn into the animal that you are," I said, surprised. "I thought you just got ears and tails and wings and whatever."

Hoji quickly changed back into his human form. "Didn't you ever see Valt or Shu change form?"

I shook my head. "No, not Ella either."

"So, what do you think of me as a fox?" Hoji asked me.

"You're cute," I replied, the same thing I had said last night when I saw his ears and tail. Because it was true.

"Thanks," Hoji replied.

I stared into space, imagining myself as an animal demon. What animal would I be? A fox like Hoji maybe?

I imagined Hoji and I running through a forest together, two foxes...
