Being the second greatest knight in the Nohrian army had its perks, but being second was what always made you mad. Silas wasn't just a great knight, but people loved him around the army and looked up to him.

Did you get looked up at? No. Why? Because you were only second to Silas, nothing more than that. But the funniest part about this whole thing was, Silas had a crush on you and mad sure to be the top knight in order to impress you.

Not the most well thought out plan. But it wasn't his fault that you didn't know he was trying to impress you. It was a dark morning when you went out to train in the training grounds. Usually you were the only one up training, but not today.

Silas came out from the shadows and waved towards you. "(y/n), why do you train so early in the morning?"

You glared at him and jabbed your lance towards him. "So I can beat you! You think I like being second next to a famous and goody-too-shoes guy? NO! I hate it and your face!"

Silas sighed deeply. "(y/n), just focusing on wanting to beat me is going to poison your mind until you think of nothing else. Try doing new things besides training."

"Don't tell me what to do!" You slashed his cheek with the edge of your lance.

Silas winced, but didn't walk backwards, he only pulled out his sword. "I see, you won't change your mind until I beat it out of you."

You didn't say anything and jabbed back at him, only he dodge it and quickly ran up to you, slashing your side. You cried out and held a hand to your wound, but that wasn't going to stop you.

With a lance you were skilled with, you jabbed at him with speed. Silas couldn't keep up for much long, but managed to slide under you to the other side, but that was his mistake.

You block his way with the hilt of your lance, using your body weight and swinging yourself to kick him in the back. Silas gasped and fell face first into the ground, blood running from his nose. It was the perfect opportunity to kill him, vulnerable and a quick stab to the heart.

But your arm wasn't listening to you, but your heart made you lock your arms in place. Silas smiled when and stood up, hunching over a bit. "You're good... but you lack to put your strength into use."

"What?!" You growled at him.

"What I'm trying to say is all this time you were focused on revenge, and you beat me. Now what's your new goal?"

That's when it hit, the realization. He was right... now what were you going to do? "I... I don't know..."

Silas smiled under his mask and patted you on the back. "We're going to the borders soon. Maybe you're ready for the front lines. We could use your power and dignity to save more lives of our soldiers."

With a smile you nodded and rose to your feet. "That sounds good. Sorry I broke your nose."

Silas shook his head. "It's alright, gave me an early morning wake up call."

The sun began to peek from the dim clouds of Nohr, but it was enough to lighten the smile on Silas's face. "Care to join me for breakfast? I see you alone by yourself all the time, maybe this change will be good for you."

Your heart cried out for him, taking him hand and smile just for him. "That sounds wonderful."
