Draco's POV


The cold water spread an icy feeling over my body. Luckily, I'd cast the Bubble-Head charm so I could breathe. I couldn't see anything, I was swimming blindly through the murky water.

"Lumos!" I mutter, and light bursts from the tip of my wand. With the faint glow of my wand, I see a trail of blood to my right. My heart speeds up, and my head pounds. I follow the bloody trail, scared of what I'd find at the end of it. Jesus, was the water freezing! If I didn't find Hermione soon, we'd both be ice cubes. That pushes me to speed up, kicking faster and harder than I ever imagined I would. The things I do for love. I reach a patch of tall, thick seaweed when something grabs my foot, hard. I whip my head down, cracking my neck, to find a grindylow latching itself to me. I cast a blasting spell directly at its head, and it detachs itself from me. I push my way through the seaweed, and my heart stops. There, in the tentacle of the Giant Squid, is Hermione, bloody and unconscious. She's blue in the face, and it doesn't look like she's breathing. I stop moving, forgetting how to swim for a couple minutes, before I rocket off the seaweed as best as I can at Hermione. I cast a blating spell, again, at the tentacle that is holding Hermione and it immediately releases the poor girl. I dive down to catch her in my arms and dart out of there as fast as I can.

I blast a hole through the ice and gasp. The cool air hits me instantly. I pull Hermione out of the freezing water, and wrap my jacket around her, which I had previously taken off, and cradle her in my arms. She was shivering, badly, so I guess she might have hypothermia. I take off to the castle, snow sticking to my soaking wet body. I was freezing but I had to get Hermione to the hospital wing, and fast. I fell a couple times, drenching both Hermione, still unconscious, and I in wet snow. I burst through the open doors of Hogwarts, making a beeline for the hospital wing. Sure, I'll probably get yelled at by Filch for tracking wet snow into the school, but who cares. Another month of scrubbing the trophies, no big deal. All I care about was getting Hermione to stay alive. I keep running until I burst through the hospital wing doors yelling,

"Madam Pomfrey! Injured girl here! Come quickly!" No later than two seconds, Madam Pomfrey darts out of her office, tells me to set Hermione down on a bed, and go and get Professor McGonagall. I jog out of the hospital and go towards the staff room. I knock quietly on the door, hearing voices. The voices cease, and the wooden door opens. I silently curse as I realize it is Professor Snape who opened the door. 

"What do you want, Malfoy?" He sneers.

"Is Professor McGonagall here? One of her house members is injured. I was sent to tell her." No sooner the words out of my mouth, McGonagall is at Snape's side. 

"Who is it?" She asks, her eyes wide. 

"Granger." I reply simply. She gasps, and I tell her to follow me to the hospital wing. She does just that, racing down the halls with me. When we reach the hospital, she rushes to Madam Pomfrey and Hermione's side, so I just excuse myself. I make it to the huge, beautifully crafted wooden doors just as they are shoved open. I jump out of the way as three figures go streaking past me, two of which are red-headed. Uh-oh....
