Hyungwon strongly disliked school.

He disliked the majority of people there, for the sole reason that they were fake, annoying, and made horrible life decisions.

He disliked the classes because the excessive amount of work and stress they caused were unnecessary.

He disliked the teachers because they were all either strict, rude, or painfully boring.

And he disliked the school schedule — waking up early, suffering seven hours of hell with few breaks, then going home to study and complete homework.

The only thing that prevented the tall student from burning his school to ashes was Lee Minhyuk, his best friend. The older was a total flower boy loved by everyone. His bright and bubbly personality was clearly portrayed by his currently dyed white hair — a stark contrast to Hyungwon's dark hair, the natural color of which he had kept since he met Minhyuk and they had become the best of friends.

Hyungwon felt lucky that they stayed in the same school because then he wouldn't have to suffer the long torturous hours alone. Not only that, Minhyuk had introduced the more secluded Hyungwon to others until they had their own little circle of friends. But his best friend being the best part about school had changed when a new student transferred to their school in the middle of senior year.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Tapping his foot on the floor impatiently, Hyungwon was waiting for the next period where he was in the same class as Minhyuk. He had already stashed away his notebook after many failed attempts at taking notes, and he'd frequently dart his eyes to the clock ticking above the classroom door. Until, motion in the doorway caused him to look at a well-built, attractive guy with bleached blonde hair walk in.

Hyungwon's eyes widened at the sight of this newcomer. He wasn't the most observant, but he knew everyone at his school and this guy he had definitely never laid eyes on before.

Without being consciously aware, a blush had crept on his face when the new guy looked right at him. The guy smirked.

"Ah, you're the new transfer student?" the teacher paused her lecture to ask. "Introduce yourself."

"Sorry I'm late," he apologized. "Shin Hoseok, I transferred here from another school." He lazily lifted his hand to wave at the class.

A group of girls who looked the same — Hyungwon wasn't kidding when he thought this, practically all the 'popular girls' at his school all dressed and acted so generic, lacking in unique, individual character —immediately began swooning over Hoseok. They were pathetically fluttering their false lashes and begging him in their annoyingly high-pitched voices to sit by them.

However, when told to find a seat, as there were plenty empty seats in the large room, Hoseok strode confidently over to the back where Hyungwon was instead.

The taller was shocked when Hoseok plopped himself down next to him but ignored the good-looking transfer student.

He leaned his head on his arm on the desk as he gazed tiredly at the teacher continuing her droning.

After glancing at the clock to see there was still half an hour left, he grunted when Hoseok suddenly kicked his shin. Hyungwon raised his eyebrows, but the other just whispered while grinning, "I'm new here - obviously - but I was wondering if maybe you could show me around later?"

"You sure you don't want one of those hoes showing you around instead?" Hyungwon asked back, quickly biting his lip after. He was always sassy and sarcastic, but never so forward with people he just met. His reaction was very unlike his normally introverted, shy self.

Hoseok snorted. "Nah, I like people with a legitimate personality."

Hyungwon recovered from his embarrassment and smiled. "Then sure, I'll show you around. But be warned, our school is boring and shitty as hell."

The older shrugged. "All schools are like that, I'm used to it."

Hyungwon couldn't disagree with that. Then, suddenly, he offered, "Hey, at lunch, if you want, you should sit with me and my friends."

Yet again, Hyungwon surprised himself by being so outgoing.

"Are they as beautiful as you are?"

Hyungwon almost choked on air when answering, "Are you flirting with me right now?"

After pretending to contemplate the question, Hoseok just winked back, creating a flutter in Hyungwon's chest. He didn't care how gay he sounded, but Hoseok was hot, no matter the facial expression.

"Fuck yeah I am," he confirmed.

It seemed that Hoseok was always luring out surprises from Hyungwon. First, he blushed —which he did again just now, flushing a deep red — something he almost never does even if extremely embarrassed. Then, he makes Hyungwon seem and feel confident, brave enough to act so outgoingly.

Hyungwon was just thankful this teacher didn't seem to mind when students were chatting during her class, because if he would have gotten called out, he'd be as red as a fire truck.

"You're hella cute when you blush," Hoseok teased, his eyes turning to crescents as he smiled.

Hyungwon groaned, burying his face in his hands. "You better stop fucking flirting with me. We just met."

"You mean I'd better not stop fucking you, because even though we just met you still love me."

"Bitch, you wish," Hyungwon muttered, still hiding his face to avoid getting exposed for being so flustered.

It was ridiculous how Hoseok was making him act like those stupid popular girls. The guy didn't even know his name!

"Hyungwon," the younger suddenly blurted.

"What?" Hoseok scrunched his brows in confusion.

"My name." Hyungwon bit his lip, lifting his head to meet gazes with Hoseok.

"Beautiful name for a beautiful boy," Hoseok mused, nodding his head as if Hyungwon's name was the most sensible thing he'd heard.

Time had flown by as before Hyungwon knew it, the bell rang. Hoseok grabbed Hyungwon's arm as he pulled him out the class and followed him to his locker, not bothering to stop by his own newly assigned one.

"What's your next class?" Hoseok hurriedly asked, ignoring the girls strutting by him in poor attempts to get his attention. Hyungwon would say he's surprised, as the girls were pretty, but Hoseok had made it quite clear that he's as straight as the D's on most students' report cards.

"English," Hyungwon whined. "I fucking hate English."

"Is it anything like French?" Hoseok inquired.

Hyungwon's jaw dropped incredulously. "What, you know French?!"

"It's the language of love, babe," Hoseok replied, licking his lips. "Tu me fais dur, s'il te plait baise-moi."

"I don't know what you said, but that's hot."

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

And for the next few days, Hyungwon's friend circle was expanding. It had started off with Minhyuk, and the couple Changkyun and Jooheon, and Shownu who was a great friend but unable to hang out with the group outside of school due to his serious dancing career and intense workout regimen. Hoseok was added, and he quickly became as close to Hyungwon as Minhyuk was. Then there were other friends Hoseok had made.

Hyungwon liked Hoseok more and more as he got to know him and his weird traits, and it soon came to a point where there was rarely a day when Hyungwon wasn't with Hoseok.

Although he was slightly drifting from Minhyuk, the flower boy didn't mind, because one of Hoseok's friends, Kihyun, had started getting close to him. (a/n: yea i ship kihyuk, if u disapprove then cry me a river and choke on it :))

Eventually, once the end of the school year rolled around and they were going to graduate soon, Hyungwon finally realized something.

He was in love with Shin Hoseok.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Hyungwon was at Minhyuk's house for the first time in a while. At first, he was excited to go because he had been hanging around with Hoseok quite a lot recently, and barely had time for Minhyuk.

But now, he wonders why.

"So beautiful," Minhyuk giggled, gazing lovingly at his boyfriend of three months. "You're so beautiful, Kihyun."

Kihyun grinned and blushed, moving closer.

Their lips were just about to touch when Hyungwon The Cockblocker shouted, "Okay that's enough! I thought you invited me here to hang out, not witness your fucking."

"We were just gonna kiss, Hyungwon," Minhyuk sighed, a little sad that he didn't get to do just that with his boyfriend.

"Maybe, but in two seconds you both would have been a moaning, naked, ugly mess," Hyungwon sassed.

"Don't pretend you don't act like that with Hoseok," Minhyuk retorted as Kihyun burst out laughing.

Hyungwon glared at the couple. "The most we've done is just hug." He then picked up his glass of water and took a sip, resembling a multitude of iconic memes.

Kihyun raised his eyebrows. "Really?! But Hoseok's really horny, I thought he fucks you hard the second you're alone."

Hyungwon choked on his water. He coughed and spluttered, desperately trying to get the water out of his lungs. The Kihyuk couple was not helping, and instead were laughing their asses off at the sight of Hyungwon's struggles.

After messily splashing his water on the two, and all of them letting out strings of curses and laughs, the three had finally recovered.

Hyungwon plopped back down on the cushioned rocking chair and sighed, "No, he doesn't fuck me, we're not even dating. And I doubt he likes me like that."

Kihyun raised his eyebrows even higher than before as Minhyuk exclaimed, "You're not?! But you two are so in love with each other!"

The youngest just laughed bitterly. "Please, he just thinks of me as a friend. I'm just a hopeless fool."

Kihyun laughed again, "Sureee," as his boyfriend launched into a rendition of the song 'Fools'.

Hyungwon groaned as he shut his eyes. "Ugh, you two are not helping!"

"Fine, hoe," Minhyuk sighed as he and Kihyun recovered — again — from their fits. "But there's honestly not much we can tell you, or advise you on--"

"Use protection," Kihyun cut in wisely.

"--because if you weren't so blind," Minhyuk continued, playing with his boyfriend's gray, slightly green-tinged hair, "you'd see that Hoseok likes you back, and you gotta man up and ask him out."

"I don't know if I want us to date though," Hyungwon confessed, and Minhyuk threw his head back in frustration.

"Then the fuck you want, bitch?!"

"I don't know!" Hyungwon cried out. "I really like Hoseok, but I'm scared of a break up, or something shitty happening that ends in sadness or anger or--"

"Shut the fuck up," Kihyun commanded, interrupting for the second time. "I was the same as you when Minnie and I first started dating - scared as hell - but look at us now."

During Kihyun's pause in his speech, Minhyuk leaned over to peck his lips, and Hyungwon scrunched up his nose, looking so utterly disgusted.

"My point is, you gotta make like Shia LaBeouf and just do it," Kihyun continued. "Take that chance, and trust Hoseok enough that you'll love each other too much to fuck up or whatever. It's scary but just grow a bigger dick. You'll only regret it in the future when you're lonely and crusty and your dick is still small. I don't know the future for me and Minhyuk, but our relationship is totally worth it because I'm the happiest I've ever been - and you will be too if you just ask. Hoseok. Out."

Hyungwon pursed his lips, deciding to ignore the — totally incorrect — comment on his dick, and focus on the deep meaning behind Kihyun's words.

But Kihyun interrupted his train of thought by demanding, "Now get the fuck out of Minhyuk's house so I can fuck him and you can get your man."

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

"Woah," Hoseok breathed, shocked. "You dyed your hair back to normal."

Hyungwon shyly scratched the back of his neck. "The pink was nice, but it's almost graduation and I don't know, I wanted my black hair back." (a/n: im picking random hair colors, i don't follow orders of the eras)

"Well you look cute as always," Hoseok said, giving his friend a thumbs up.

"Not as good as you," Hyungwon flirted back. "The teal in your hair... Your hair is always so perfect."

"You're my inspiration since you're the perfect one." Hoseok winked, then suddenly grabbed Hyungwon's hand. "C'mon, let's go for a walk. I have to ask you something."

Hyungwon opened his mouth, then decided against saying anything and just let Hoseok drag him outside to a private stretch of beach close to his house.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

And that led to how the two ended up in a tight embrace under the stars, sharing warmth and love and most importantly, a sweet kiss. A soft touch of the lips that left both males feeling content and light inside.

The banquet following their upcoming graduation was a sort of equivalent to prom for the students at their school — dressing nicely was mandatory, and of course, what fun is prom without a date? Hoseok had prepared and successfully delivered a whole speech reminiscing about their shared memories, highlighting their close bond, and his strong feelings for the taller. It had left Hyungwon in a state close to tears, so Hoseok decided to "kiss the pain away" and neither had let go since.

Finally, Hyungwon pulled away to clarify, "It's a yes, by the way. Of course, I'll be your date for the banquet. And any homophobic fucks can fuck off."

"One last question," Hoseok murmured. "Will you be my date forever?"

Hyungwon giggled lightly. "Of course."

"FUCK YEAH!" Hoseok shouted, sounding like quite the hype beast. "I can finally call you 'babe' when you're actually mine."

Hyungwon rolled his eyes. "Don't get too hyped--"

Hoseok pinched Hyungwon's cheek. "How can't I? You're actually finally mine! I can kiss you all I want! And call you 'mine' or 'baby' all the time! And murder people who try to get in your pants!"

Hoseok continued exclaiming the whole world of possibilities now that they were officially dating while Hyungwon watched, amused. He really like Hoseok for all his personality — the sexy, flirty side of him, and the adorable, child-like side. And obviously, his drop-dead visuals that could kill anyone, which complimented his gorgeous voice perfectly. And don't even mention the body.

"I love you, Seokkie," Hyungwon confessed in a quiet tone.

Hoseok stopped his ranting to say equally soft, "I love you too, Hyungwonnie."

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

There were no homophobic fucks at the banquet. Most people around their age were open-minded, and accepted everyone — after all, it was high school, full of teenagers with large varieties of character traits.

Over the course of the summer, Hyungwon's relationship with Hoseok was still going steady. They had their many fights now and then, but that was part of relationships, and their comebacks only proved how strong they were together.

One thing they were constantly reminded of, however, was how homophobic the rest of society, specifically the older generations, still was. They always hung out and went on dates, and every time they were out in public, unfailingly, at least one person would send a dirty look or call out something hurtful.

The couple didn't care about those strangers, knowing they still each other and their welcoming friends, but around their parents, it was a whole different story. Both their parents were strongly against anything homosexual, so they made sure to disguise their relationship as a close friendship instead when around either parental unit. Hyungwon was thankful his parents were quite the busy workers, yet still, having to deal with Hoseok's parents resulted in some strain. However, neither male paid any attention to it, focusing solely on each other and the prominent emotion of love always surrounding them.

But apparently, this bond of love wasn't enough, as when entering their university years, their serendipity changed.
