3:08 PM WEDNESDAY                                    2 DAYS TILL THE WORLD ENDS

Ivy and Chase let me stay there. I'd stopped crying a while ago but I really couldn't move. It was sorta like a daze. Nothing really had an impact on me. Anything said was pretty much useless. Chase had apologized even though it wasn't his fault. Ivy thanked me and then they started the climb up to the window.

I'd fallen back to the third level fire escape and Zach's apartment was conveniently at the top. From up here I could still see Ivy's forgotten half charred sketch book. There was a slow unusual breeze. Nobody came out of the apartments and nobody went in. Ironically only Chase's car had survived the whole exploding star, freaking-fire-kid-with-no-clue-what-she's-doing senerio.

Chase and Ivy had just reached Zach's window. I had a sudden thought. What if Zach and James had been in one of those vehicles when I blew them? HOLY CRAP I MELTED ZACH!!!! AND JAMES!

Before I could ponder why Zach had priority over my own brother Ivy screamed.

I jumped to my senses. She needed help! In a blink of a second I was climbing outside of the metal stairs to like I was climbing a ladder, fully aware that all it would take to kill me is a slip of my hand and not caring an inch.

I swung myself into Zach's window with utmost ease only to see Chase and Ivy crouching over a body. Zach's body. It was surround by shards of a half broken glass.

"H-He's not breathing!"Ivy stuttered in a panic. Chase knelt next to him trying to give him CPR. Not mouth to mouth. I don't think he was that desperate yet. Though I think it would be funny if Zach awoke with-

"Chloe not the time for those thoughts."Chase muttered. Stupid Telepath.

"Heard that!" He decided not to reply to the list of profound words that after that.

I knelt by his side careful to avoid the glass. His skin was clammy and cold, but he wasn't dead. No I was positive Zach wasn't dead. But if he's not dead whats happening? And where's James? There was something different about Zach's wrist.

"Light." I said "I need light." I couldn't see in the fading light.

"The whole curcit is shot."Ivy said. Without thinking my hand burst into flames. Ivy and Chase jumped back.

"Warning next time would be nice." Ivy exclaimed sharing a look with Chase. Something flickered in her eyes. Fear. She was afraid? Later. With my normal hand I picked up Zach's cold hand. The Veins.

Most of the time when you look at your wrist you'll see blue veins. Zach's were swimming with a true orange color. The same color Chase's eyes flashed right before he left us hanging...literally.

"Uh...Chloe what are you doing?" Ivy whispered like she was afraid to break the silence.

I brought my fire a little closer, ignoring her. What the heck is this -

Suddenly my fire went out. I looked at my hand. I dropped Zach's arm and the flame came back.

'That's interesting.' Somehow Chase's voice in my head wasn't alarming. Or maybe I was so overwhelmed by everything else it didn't weird me out.

I tested it out again. brought my hand close to Zach and it went out pulled back and it turned on like it had never been off.

'Anti-sryrum. Something to cancel our powers, Chase avered. Duh, Sherlock.

"I'm sorry just trying to be helpful." He said out loud. "And Ivy those aren't very nice words."

The artist giggle and they briefly brushed hands. They shared a meaningful look and Chase blushed a light pink.

Meanwhile here I am with the only clue to my brother in a coma, stuck with two lovebirds and probably an entire legion of MCD and regular people who want my head on a stick or my body in a lab. Great.

I held Zach's hand silently begging for him to wake up. If Chase heard me he pretended not to notice. Out of everyone Zach seemed to be the most closed up. For some reason that just made me want to know about him more.

"Well I'm thirsty." Ivy said suddenly. "I'm going to get water from the tap. Either of you guys want some?"

"Nah I'm good." Chase said. My mind was whirling. Something about water...

I heard the tinkling of glasses and then the rush of the faucet being turned on.

"Chase! Stop Her!" I yelled. I lept up, racing by a startled boyfriend and knocked the cup from Ivy's hand before she drank from it.

"What was-?" Ivy demanded. The glass was cracked and the liquid sloshed on a puddle on  the floor. Careful not to touch it I lit my hand up again and brought it close to in puddle. It flashed off.

Ivy's face was a ghost pale. Chase was astonished

"I couldn't figure out how he got so much in his system." I explained. "Chase had a good amount in his but he shook it off fast. in order for him to have had enough to knock him out for this long in couldn't have been from darts. Then I remembered to glass. He must have drank the Anti-sryrum through the Tap!" I beamed with my smarts.

"As much as their the bad guys, I've got to give them props for this brilliant plan." Chase sighed. "Come on, we should move Zach to a bed."

After a couple strange moments we got Zach into a bed in what Chase said was his room. For a guy Zach was quite tidy. Everything had its place and everything was orderly. His forgotten school bag was on a chair next to a writing desk and a folder of paper sat on that labled "Something like Speed". His laundry basket was full and  his dresser was neatly closed. on top of the dresser was a giant collection of action figures, a clay whistle shaped like a dinosaur, a packet of letters, and a wallet. A flat screen TV chilled in the corner next to his night stand and alarm clock.

"Wow." I said picking up the wallet.

"Yeah, he's a neat freak." Ivy said. "I'm going to go take another shower and then relax for the night."

She left and Chase made some excuse about being hungry and left. Truthfully I was both tired and hungry and desperately wanted to take a shower. I fingered his wallet before opening it.

Zach's learners permit smiled back at me. Zach Ledger. Zach Peter Ledger. Interesting name. he's  one and a half years older than me. I never really thought about him as older than me.

I carefully placed the wallet next to the statues of Cyclops and Wolverine fighting over Jean Grey. Was about to leave but my fingers wavered over the letters.

I shouldn't.

But I really want to.

Its private.

But I won't ever get another chance.

He'd tell you if he wanted you to know.

I picked up the packet of letters. Then return address was for a place in Hollywood. Okay weird.

Dear Zach,

Your Dad and I are happy to hear that Mrs. McKenna is expecting. Sorry we're not there to keep you company while she's gone. The movie's suppose to be a great hit and your father and I have been exceptionally busy filming. Let me tell you, being a superstar is not easy and they don't even have blue pancakes!

Zach's parents are movie stars? I sensed a inside joke about the blue food. I skipped through most of the letter looking for the signature.

With most love,

Cate California

Zach's mom was Cate California? One of the most successful actresses of the year! She's my idle! I glanced at Zach who was looking slight better since we put him there. I wondered who his dad was. I closed the letter but something caught my eye. I opened it and my eyes widened as I read the last sentence and nearly choked.

"CHASE!!" I screamed.

P.S  About your super speed, I think you'll be fine; All super heroes normally are.
