2:17 PM WEDNESDAY 2 DAYS TILL THE WORLD ENDS

I waited. and waited. and waited some more.

"Guys, he's not answering." I said turning look at Chase and Ivy

Chase looked up. "His window is open." He commented. "It's right on the fire escape."

"Should we go?" Ivy asked not looking from her scribbling in the sketch book. I didn't answer I just went over and jumped for the rusted ladder. Stupid thing; If I wad just two and a half inches taller...

"Uh Chloe?" Chase said. I turned around to see Ivy and Chase floating on an invisible platform.

"Whoa."

He held out his hand. "Complments of being a telepath."

I hesitated then I took it. he pulled me on to the platform.

Nervousness bubbled in my stomach. If Chase was going to kill me now would be the time. fifteen feet up. I could see the headlines now: Public Enemy found dead from thirty foot drop. Not the most pleasant thing to think about when the only thing stopping that from coming true is a thin layer of....air? What is this? A Force field?

We were half way up and my uneasiness was subsiding. So naturally everything started going wrong.

The platform wavered. For a moment I was sure we were going to plummet to our doom. The look on my face must have said it all.

"Sorry." Chase mumbled. He was soaked with sweat. "I don't know what that was."

Ivy looked up from her drawing. She looked worried. She was about to say something. Then Chase cried out. He looked at both of us, his eyes glassy and unfocused. His hand went up to the side of his neck. A single red feathered dart stuck out from it.

"Oh Shi-" Ivy didn't get the chance to finish. The floor evaporated and we fell face first three stories.

My eyes watered from the speed of the wind. But that was nothing compared to the speed my mind was flinging. Chase had been shot with something. That something caused him to lose concentration. Zach didn't answer the door. Was it possible it was conected? I was going to die. Zach and Van and Chase have some sort of three way rivalry- Wait I should really try not to die.

I thrashed around wildly until my hand made hard contact with something metal. The fire escape! Duh Chloe. I reached out another time and smacked my hand again. My hand went numb with pain. I ignored it. if a little pain in my hand was all that resulted in a three story fall I was real lucky. I reached out and this time I wrapped my fingers around the rusted bar.

the action felt like it ripped my shoulder out of its socket. Before the pain set I threw my other arm over the side and hauled my body up. Considering I nearly failed the upper body test at school when my life depends on it I can be quite strong.

I laid there for a minute until I realized that there was still screaming. Who was still screaming? Holy Cow, Ivy! I struggled to sit up and when I did I saw Ivy and Chase's limp body crash into a mound of dirt? I swear it wasn't there before.

It had to be pillow top dirt. The best type of dirt to play softball in. As soon as they hit a puff of dirt exploded into thr air. Terror filled my head. They weren't dead right? They couldn't be dead!

Through the fog-like dust cloud to figures emerged, one dragging the other with a limp. I would have sighed with relief but things were just getting started.

"Ivy behind you!" I screamed noticeably too late. Another figure had emerged from the dirt cloud and grabbed Ivy's arm. I couldn't see who it was but he was dressed in a swat suit attire. Chase fell the ground with a thump as Ivy struggled to get away.

The dirt finally settled and the sight almost made me lose my breakfast. Giant black trucks lines the parking lot and men in black clad suits poured out. Each truck was labeled MCD. Who in the world...? Underneath one I spied the acronym. Mutant Containment Department.

We were so screwed.

Ivy kicked at the man holding her. I could tell she was screaming something but I was too far to hear anything. Plants all around them leapt to life , grass hooked around the man's feet and dragged him back, roots of a nearby tree popped up and tripped the men trying to aid him, flowers sprayed pollen into the faces of the guys sneaking to close to the mini garden of the apartments.

"Chloe! Please!" Ivy screamed for help.

Suddenly a rain of bullets showered on the fire escape around me. I dropped into a fetal posistion. I was shaking so bad and my body temperature was rising. How dare these people attack me! I could wipe them all out with a twist of my hand, No with a thought. And it was terrifying.

All the damage I could do. But if I didn't who know what could happen to Ivy, to Chase, to me. The freaking world is ending! My heart shattered.

I jumped up and instantly caught fire. Too late for second thoughts. I wound back like I was throwing a softball and then I let go.

It was just a little fireball. Just a tiny, little, itty bitty golfball sized ball of fire.

Ash. That's all that's left of the entire set up. And if it hadn't been for Chase, both Ivy and him would have been caught too. He woke with a start and produced a single shield around the two of them until the explosion had burned out.

I stood above the total destruction I caused. All of the cars had battle wounds, some weren't even there anymore. Smoke hung in the air and the smell of burning rubber was everywhere.

Those peole were going to hurt us. I did the right thing. I saved us.

I killed a hundred people.

I couldn't take it anymore. I felt emotionally drained. My knees buckled and I fell into a forward kneel and sobbed onto the metal railing.
