She didn't know how she felt about this whole... Arranged date situation. Mavis shoved her purple , curly hair out of her face and only waited in silence, messing with the fringes of the table cloth.

She started to let out a small hum, trying to keep it quiet until a gruff voice responded.

" Nice singing voice . " The male was tall and wore a dark blue shirt with yellow striped on his sleeves. He didn't sit down at the table but his blue and yellow eyes captivated the female.

" O-oh.. you heard that ? ... That's embarrassing... " she whispered softly to herself, feeling like she was in her own little world.

" Man... I can't believe Alastar is standing someone so beautiful up . "

The surprised date had ended when those heartwrenching words exited the male's mouth.

" ... W.. what ..? "

Maybe she heard him wrong, maybe it was just some stupid joke.

Yeah, a stupid joke.

But the male didn't laugh or kid when Mavis didn't respond, waiting for the big reveal that the male was messing around.

" Yeah, he wanted me to come tell you instead of just.. " he placed his hands up into the air and dropped them onto his lap, making a loud slap created by his ripped red jeans with darker red spots all over.

Mavis twitched an ear, her green eyes moving towards the distance until the male sat down at the table, pulling in his chair as he gave her a grin.

" Name's Todd, hope you don't mind me joining you for dinner . "

" Oh, I was just going to leave..  " Mavis had felt the terrible feeling in her gut after being stood up and her anxiety seemed to destroyed her mood for dinner.

" Really ? I can even pay for dinner ... I'd really like to know you, that's all .... Mavy ..? "

" Close, it's Mavis , " she corrected softly. Her voice velvet-like as she placed a soft napkin into her lap.

" Mavis — that's a beautiful name , " Todd leaned forward as a lady with a menu walked towards the table, asking what they'd like to drink.

The two told the waitress what they would like and the waitress moved her hips , leaving the table before entering the kitchen.

Todd stared into Mavis' eyes quietly as Mavis struggled under the intense glare.

" Order whatever you want from the menu, I'll pay for it. " Todd responded as he noticed Mavis looking over the kids menu.

" .. O-oh..  " Mavis stuttered as she flipped the menu over, revealing juicy burgers and watering stakes that tease your mouth after every bite.

" I'm more of a ... Salad kind of girl .. " Mavis smiled softly , which caused a giant laugh from Todd.

" You're so funny and sweet ! I swear you're like... "

" A pushover... ? " Mavis mumbled mostly to herself.

" An angel ! " Todd finished, he seemingly didn't hear what Mavis had said. The waitress had returned with the drinks and placed the ice tea in front of Mavis.

" Here you go sugar and.. " the waitress placed a Pepsi infront of Todd. " Here . Order whenever . "

" Why yes, I'd like a bacon burger and sizzled onions and my date would like ... " He turned towards her, waiting for her to insert her order in. She honestly had no idea how to respond. She didn't expect Todd to go out of his way to introduce her into the matter and ... It made her flustered if she was being honest.

" Sugar ? " The waitress responded, her impatient nature getting the best of her.

" Oh , a Ceasar Salad. " Mavis finished, handing the menu to her.

" Those will be right out . " And just like that, she was off into the distance, treading towards the kitchen .

" So my dear ~ ? " Todd chirped , " what do you want to talk about ? "

" So my date was Alastar ? " She had never took the male for going onto blind dates and Todd's expression changed.

" Yes , he had to cancel though. "

" Why ? " Mavis asked, her voice quiet and in a whispery like tone.

Todd's tone of voice got hard and mean, his eyes narrowed a bit as he responded. " He said he had something else better to do . Quit talking about that bastard would you ? "

What he said had felt like a knife plunged into her heart. She thought that he was a charming individual, but his cold remarks felt like that was a mask.

" I'm sorry... I need to go to the bathroom.. " she stood up as Todd's expression changed, a small smile drew itself onto his face.

" Be safe . "

Mavis had dipped her head softly as she went towards the bathroom, her movements were slow until she had finally gotten out of Todd's view and rushed towards the bathroom.

She opened the last stall and sat down on the toilet, taking out her phone as she wanted to go on her phone and didn't want to come off as rude to Todd.

She grabbed out her phone and noticed that all of her friends had spammed her with the same link from a news website.

Mavis clicked one that Cream had sent her and her eyes widened as her mouth had dropped.

Alastar was dead.

She scrolled down and skimmed the article until she noticed an uncensored picture of a mutilated corpse, there were cut marks on both of his cheeks that edged up to his ears , making a gross looking smile.  He was missing one eye and saw small bugs in the opening of his eye socket.

" ...! " Mavis held her hand to her mouth, as she felt like she could puke.

What the fuck —?????

She got an angry text from some unknown number that was aggressive and harsh :

You worthless piece of shit.

Imagine just leaving someone entirely alone and getting laughed at by other couples — you whore.
You're probably home by now aren't you ?

Her hands shook as she tried to type a reply but couldn't.

It's just a troll... She hoped as she exited the bathroom before telling Summer that she was with some guy named Todd that told her that Alastar had been busy.

She didn't think nothing of it as she exited the bathroom and walked back to the table.

She sat down in her seat as Todd stared blankly at her.

" Sorry I took so long , there was a line and a girl on her period I swear .. haha " the laugh sounded so fake and she sat their in silence, not saying a word .

After multiple minutes , that felt like hours , Todd finally spoke , his voice gone of emotion.
" Mavis Fox, do you love me ? "

How did he know my name ? The frantic voice of her mind screaming the question.

" I beg your pardon ? "

" Do YOU love ME ? " He put emotion into the you and me and it kind of startled Mavis.

He was completely fine right before all of this, why was he acting like this ?

" I don't know you that well Todd — "

" I've been stalking you after I met you in 5th grade. I know all about you and your little quirks and perks. I know you're related to Summer and I know your address by heart . "

" What the fuck is wrong with you — " was all that Mavis could squeak out. She couldn't believe what she was hearing ; it was gross, stalking and it freaked her out.

" And when I heard about a blind date ... I had to jump onto the bandwagon .. "

" You. " Mavis narrowed her eyes. " You did that to Alastar. "

" So you did go on your phone in the bathroom you motherfucker . Can't you see I love you ? "

Mavis stood up as she announced to him that she was leaving and that she wasn't in the mood to eat... Once more.

" I want you to come home with me , " muttered Todd, his voice was demanding and cold.

" No. " Mavis narrowed her eyes as she spotted a familiar orange figure off in the distance.

" Mavis , family emergency . Thanks for watching my sister . " Summer smiled fakely at Todd and started to drag Mavis away.

Todd didn't say anything afterwards and turned his head away .

The very next day, Mavis and her family moved after someone broke into the house at 4 am, stealing a necklace that was usually worn by the fox.
