Link's P.O.V

That damn Zant! This twilight palace is a maze everywhere I go! Almost like a dungeon... nah it can't be one. Looking around the place I could feel a small sense of hope in here... but that was impossible.

Deep inside it felt like (y/n) was alive. My mind was just lying to me, playing tricks on me with this air around the twilight. But why did I feel there was someone watching me, making a note of my being?

That didn't matter anymore once I finally came into the throne room. Zant was sitting on his throne, sitting still as a statue while he eyed my Master Sword.

Midna came out of my shadow and stared at him. "Zant," She smirked and rested a hand on her hip. "Isn't this ironic? Here we are, all thanks to the dark magic cure you placed on Link!"

Zant had his mouth open as when he spoke the air around him as cold as his soul. "You speak of magic? Still your tongue for a moment, whelp, and I will tell you of both magic and the oppression of ages..."

"The people of our tribe," the mask broke off and unfolded to reveal his face. The same pattern of the portals of the sky was on his forehead as his eyes were red with his pupils yellow, like a snakes. Even from the head and neck down his skin look scaly like and rough. "A tribe that mastered the arts of magic... were locked away in this world like insects in a cage."

He then rose his arms, as is he was praying to a god. "In the shadows we regressed, so much so that we soon knew neither anger nor hatred... nor even the faintest bloom of desire." Creepily he began to twist his body in a coil. "And all of it was the fault of a useless, do-nothing royal family that had resigned used to this miserable half-existence imp!"

Zant was creepy as alright as he stomped his feet in anger, a way a child would do when he didn't get the thing he wanted. Zant took a deep breath as his pupils dilated. "I had served and endured in that depraved household for far too long, my impudent princess."

To our surprise he jump at us, barley stopping with the tip of his toes and spinning in circles, the anger and hate all in the swirls he was radiating off. "And why, you ask? Because I believed I would be the next to rule our people! THAT is why!"

The Usurper King lean back and laughed with a cruel and utter evil around him. "But would they acknowledge me as their king? No! And as such, I was denied the magic powers befitting our ruler! It was then, in the thrall of hatred and despair, that I turned my eyes to the heavens... and found a god."

"A false god." I spoke up, my voice cracking a little.

"WRONG!" He shot back at me, leaning downwards as his face looked up at the sky, before suddenly forcing himself up. "My god had only one wish..."

Zant suddenly disappeared and appeared on the throne. "To merge shadow and light... and make darkness!" He rose up in the air and began to laugh with a joke only he would get. "But the imp princess vowed to battle me only, so I will let her battle me."

"Then I'll just help her." I stood my guard and braced my sword at him, the light gleaming off everything around it.

"Ahh... that's where you are wrong. Oh my Twilight Princess! I have a toy for you to play around with!"

"Yay! Finally a challenge in this stinking place!"

Next to the throne appeared... (y/n)? My breath was caught in my throat... I could think her name but couldn't say it. There she was in the flesh, only in revealing twilight clothing and a small black crown on her head. "Ooo it's the so-called-hero? Now I like this battle."

"(y/n)..." Midna spoke first. Her eyes were wide with disbelief. "But how...? We saw you die..."

"Oh foolish princess, that's where you missed it! My god gave her to me, almost shaped out of live and bloody all over. He told me to take her as my queen and have her stay in the twilight realm where she could rest and heal. It took about a weeks' time for her eyes to open, so innocent around her, until she remembered her true calling, severing my god, Lord Ganondorf."

"You're wrong!" I shouted at him and looked at (y/n). I hardly recognize... her skin was pale as the purest of whites, her eyes dull and darkened to the pits of darkness. Even her skin was covered in twilight markings. "(y/n)," I whispered her name. "You belong to use..."

"That is where you're wrong. My Lord belongs me only, not some worthless princess and a soon-to-be dead hero." She lifted up her hand as a bluish and black ball of Twilight energy came. "And I'll be the one killing you. Too bad really, you're cute and handsome, but sadly my lord demands it."

If this wasn't so serious I would have blushed at her compliment but this wasn't the time to do it. (y/n) was lost to darkness... my worst fear had come true. All that was left was my broken heart too see her like this. Didn't she remember us at all? Even our dying kiss? Maybe... if I hurt her enough she'll come to her senses.

"Tch, stop standing there like an idiot and fight me!" (y/n) snapped and threw her energy at me.

I blocked it with my master sword, sliding backwards a bit to my surprise. She might be evil, but that didn't mean she was weak. Looking at her now I could see where I needed to stab her. I didn't want to do it, but the real (y/n) would have let me do this.

"Fine." I said, raising my sword up as the Twilight's ray reflected off the metal. "Fight me."

(y/n) P.O.V

Ooo~ this should be fun. Battling the hero seemed the best thing in this dark and depressing world, and a way to be away from Zant. The hero, I'm guessing Link, stared at me with a longing and belonging. Deep inside it felt like he wanted me... but that was impossible.

"Tch, stop standing there like an idiot and fight me!" I threw my energy ball at him.

He struggled against him as he finally used some sense and pushed it away with the Master Swords light. When he looked up he had a face set in determination, but a sorrowful aura around him. "Fine," He said and rose his sun up to the Twilight's casting light. "Fight me."

I smirked and let my new found energy gather inside me. "With pleasure~"

Link backflip while he dodged my energy balls, little did he know I was toying with him. He saw an opening and jumped to backslash me, but I put a barrier behind me as it deflected his sword right back at him. This was the Hero of Time? He was too easy to read and not much of a challenge at all.

"Oh come on! Show some backbone and hit me with all you got! If you don't, I'll crush your worthless human life like an ant!"

He huffed and lean back to strike upwards but my barrier blocked his attack. He growled and slashed at it continuously. "Then stop defending and start attacking! You said you would crush me like an ant, so do it!"

I rose an eyebrow at his behavior. What was he getting at? Did he want to be killed? "You asked for it!"

He was pushed backwards once again when the barrier broke off, but I quickly switch to attacking as I let out a fire of energy. Link swerved it with caution and ease as he slowly gained up on me.

My heart was beating faster and faster as he was dodging some of the balls, but only a few little were sending him back. I let out a burst of energy, making him serve to the right but he quickly saw an opening and ran towards it.

In panic I let out a huge burst of energy and shot it into his chest. The Hero gasped in pain as he was thrown at the wall. I ignore Zant and the Imp's battle as I slowly made my way over top him.

He coughed up blood and forced himself up to his knees, leaning against the sword as he panted heavily. "Is this a way to approach an enemy?"

Out of nowhere he spun around me trusted his sword upwards, to skyward. Quickly as I could I hopped back but the sword cut some of my nose, blood dripping down and into my mouth.

It tasted of Iron, like a human. But I'm not a human... I'm a goddess! "How dare you make me bleed my own blood!"

"Snap out of it (y/n)!" He charged too fast for me to make a move so I changed to a defensive post, but it was a pain since the blade of Evil's Bane was digging into my skin.

The blades power was working as its light burn off the skin of my arms. I bit back as scream because if I gave up it would be the end of me. "Foolish human! Give up now!"

"It's time to wake up (y/n)." Link suddenly pushed me back, but caught me by the edge of my shoulder. "because your dream of evil is at an end."

The Sword of Evil's Bane was shoved inside me, clean right through my chest. I screamed in pure agony. All the twilight that was keeping me alive was burning away. Damn that blade!

I looked up at his face to see... he was crying... Link was crying for me. After our battle my sense finally came to be. Link... oh how I failed you....

Link's P.O.V

From the dream I had I finally knew what (y/n) wanted me to do. No-Goddess of Time. The madness inside her formed into the evil power which turned into twilight, making it the only form of substance for (y/n) to live in. Now that the Master Sword has vanquish that evil she's finally free.

The dullness from the darkness slowly drained away as came her beautiful (e/c) eyes, the ones I really knew and loved. She began to buckle under her weight but I caught her in time, my tears dripping down her face. Slowly I removed the Master Sword from her chest, I winced as he coughed up more blood.

"Link..." She panted heavily. "Thank... y-you..."

"You're welcome..." I gave her a kiss on the forehead. Now that these were her real final moment I could feel my heart breaking into two.

Blood leaked out of her mouth when she gave me a ghostly smile of her while the light died from her eyes. I did what she originally wanted... but she didn't plan the love between us.

Yes, I love a goddess, a human goddess... and I killed her... now my life was meaningless without her.

The will to breakdown was wanting to take over so badly... but I had to stay strong for (y/n). I closed her eyes and gave her light kiss on her pale lips. "Rest in peace now... you're finally free."

Zant suddenly cried out in pain as Midna had her tentacle hair inside Zant, only it was much powerful than before. Midna calmed down before looking at us, only to have her single eye widen at the scene.

"Link... why?"

Gently as a feather I put her down, crossing her arms over her chest as her body began to dissolve into Twilight pieces. "I had too... it was the only way."

Midna's eye shined with a deep understanding. "I now know..." She opened up a portal with a flick of her hand. "Let's go. With this power we can save Princess Zelda."

I nodded, not looking back as I knew (y/n)'s body was already gone from Twilight. "For Zelda... and for (y/n)."

Midnawent through the portal first and I jumped in next, whispering to myself."I love you, (y/n). Next forget that."
