EP.142|Sunrise Sadness

Days till wedding: 5 days 10 hours and 7 minutes

Operetta slept soundly in her bed until  the sound of a rock hitting her window woke her up. She groaned and slowly got out of bed and walked onto the balcony to see Hunter.

“Hunter, what are you doing here?” Operetta whispered a bit loudly. “Didn't you say you wanted to go on an adventure?” Hunter chuckled. “It’s 5am Hunter.” Operetta laughed, Hunter always found it adorable when she did.

“We’re gonna go see the most beautiful thing on the Demonic Islands.” Hunter smiled. “And what is this “beautiful thing” exactly?” Operetta questioned. “It’s a surprise.” Hunter winked.

“It’s 5 days till the wedding, I have a lot of planning to do.” Operetta sighed.

“Take a break.” Hunter brushed a strand of her red hair back “I can't Hunter.” Operetta shook her head. “Please. I promise you’ll be back before the stupid king wakes up.” Hunter smirked.

Operetta chuckled “fine.” Hunter smiled and wrapped his arms around Operetta, diving off the terrace. Operetta closed her eyes, once she opened them again, Hunter and her were on the ground.

“Hunter, why won't you tell me where we’re going?” Operetta asked. “Because,” he stopped in his tracks, he really didn't know where they were going. “Brazzan, where are we going?” Hunter questioned.

“Somewhere.” Brazzan vaguely replied. “Oh yeah, that’s specific.” Hunter rolled his eyes. “Just trust me. I know where I’m going.” Brazzan assured him.

“I swear to the gods Brazzan, if we get loss.” Hunter muttered. “Did you say something Hunter?” Operetta asked sweetly. “Nope.” Hunter sighed.

“Hunter,” Operetta held onto Hunter’s hand “you know you can tell me anything right?” Hunter looked at Operetta cute worried face “she’s so cute!” Hunter bit his lip.

“Of course Operetta.” Hunter nodded. “Then why won't you tell me what’s wrong?” Operetta looked down “aren’t we friends?”

“Of course we are Operetta, it’s just…” he sighed deeply “the whole reason I’m in the Demonic Islands is because of a girl.”

“She looked just like you.” Hunter smiled, staring into Operetta greyish-purple eyes. “Was she someone special?” Operetta asked. “The most special thing in the freaking universe.” Hunter had a longing look in his eyes.

“What was she like?” Operetta further intrigued. “She was the most kindest, talented, beautiful, strongest, she was good, but bad at the same time.” Hunter began to explain.

“Her voice was the most enchanting thing ever! If I was sad, she brighten my day just by smiling at me. Her touch was softer than clouds. But the best thing about her is her forgiveness.”

“What do you mean?” Operetta tilted her head. “Some bad things happened one day, and she got hurt.” Hunter looked down.

Even though Operetta forgave him, but the memory of what he did to her, he could never forgive himself for that.

He couldn't forget all the blood, the tears, her scream. He would never forget it.

“But, she forgave me, she said that the Hunter that did to her wasn’t the real one. So, she couldn't blame me for what happened. It was one of the reasons why I feel in love with her.” Hunter smiled softly.

“Is this girl on the Demonic Islands?” Hunter nodded “that’s why me and my friends are here. A guy named Lucifer took her so we’re here to take her back.”

“I hope you find her.” Operetta laid her head on Hunter’s shoulder. “I already did…” Hunter sniffed her red hair, it was a beautiful cherry blossom scent.

“I guess, since we’re admitting stuff now,” Operetta rubbed the back of her neck nervously “I don't want to get married.”

“I can see that.” Hunter chuckled. “It’s not that I don't love Nicholas, it’s just, I don't want to be Queen. I don't want to be bound in one place. I wanna be out there. Exploring like you and your friends.”

Safe behind these windows and these parapets of stone.

Gazing at the people down below me.

Operetta always felt like she was locked up. For as long as she could remember, she hasn't been outside of the Demonic Islands. She wanted to go on an adventure! Be free.

All my life I watch them as I hide up here alone.

Hungry for the histories they show me.

All my life I memorize their faces.

Knowing them as they will never know me.

All of the Demonic Island residents hated Operetta. They didn't see her fit as Queen. They all knew Anissa, the real Nicholas’s mate, is the rightful Queen.

Operetta tried billions of times to get them to like her but they just wouldn't budge.

All my life I wonder how it feels to pass a day.

Not above them.

But part of them.

All she wanted to do was be like them, taking adventures, fighting monsters, living life on the road. She wanted it more than she could tell.

But, as Queen, she had to stay in the Demonic Islands. No adventure. No fighting monsters. No living live on the road.

Just nothing.

And out there

Living in the sun.

Give me one day out there.

All I ask is one.

To hold forever.

She couldn't stand being a Queen. She wanted to be like the warriors that work for the kingdom.

Those women were Operetta’s heros. She would listen to their stories about their adventures and she couldn't help but be in awe.

Out there.

Where they all live unaware.

What I'd give.

What I'd dare.

Just to live one day out there.

Sometimes, she just wanted to run away with the warriors. She wanted to live the life they did.

Ever since Hunter and the VK’s came to town, Operetta’s been feeling like a whole new person.

She felt like she’s known them her entire life. Especially Hunter.

Out there among the millers and the weavers and their wives.

Through the roofs and gables I can see them.

Ev'ry day they shout and scold and go about their lives.

Hunter and Operetta have gotten a lot closer ever since they’ve met. For some reason, she was so safe around Hunter. When he wrapped his arms around her, she felt the wrath of his body.

Heedless of the gift it is to be them

If I was in their skin

I'd treasure ev'ry instant

She always wanted a life with love, passion, adventure. She felt like she had all of that before.

She just couldn't remember where. She knew she lived a life where she had love, adventure, friends, happiness..

But where?

Out there

Strolling by the Seine

Taste a morning out there

Every night, in her dreams, she would hear a voice. It sounded so familiar,so loving, so… safe. Her dreams were filled with her and the mysterious person, laughing, playing, just being together.

Like ordinary women

Who freely walk about there

Just one day and then

I swear I'll be content

She wanted to be like the Operetta in her dreams. The one who was tied down by royalty. The one who would fight monsters. The one who had sincere happiness. The one who didn't have one-sided love.

The one where she was free.

With my share.

Won't resent.

Won't despair.

Old and bent.

If she could have one day where she could be free. Free from the shackles that hid her from the outside world. Free from all the judgment, from being pushed into royalty. Free from one sided love.

She just wanted to be free.

I won't care

I'll have spent

One day

Out there

“You sing really good.” Hunter complimented. “Thank you,” she looked down “at least someone thinks that.”

“Well, I think it’s beautiful.” Hunter smiled, the two then reached a beautiful hillside. “Close your eyes.” Operetta nodded, closing her eyes.

Hunter then lead her to the tip of the cliff, the cool ocean air brushing against their skin.

“Hunter, where are you taking me?” Operetta chuckled. “Do you trust me?” Hunter asked.

Operetta hesitated, she smiled, something about Hunter made her know she could trust him “yes”

“Good, cause we’re jumping.” Hunter grabbed Operetta’s hand, “WAIT WHAT!?”

Once Hunter and Operetta hit the water, there was a loud splash. She opened her eyes to see she was under water.

It was a beautiful tropical underwater environment, the sea-life was healthy and colorful making Operetta smile widely.

The only thing that was strange was that she was breathing underwater.

“How the hell am I breathing?! Better question, how am I talking?” Operetta was shocked, not only could she breathe underwater, but talk as well.

“It’s a demon mate thing.” Hunter chuckled. “Why are we underwater anyways?” Operetta asked. “Wanna answer that Brazzan?” Hunter rolled his eyes. “Just keep swimming forwards till you get to a big pearl.” Brazzan answered.

Hunter grabbed her hands and the two began swimming through the beautiful sea. Hunter looked behind him to see Operetta’s joyus face.

She looks so happy. That’s when the idea hit Hunter, if he found a way to get her memories back, Operetta wouldn't be smiling anymore.

She’d go back to her regular life of fighting for her life, he couldn't put Operetta in that much danger.

“Maybe...she doesn't need me.” Hunter said sadly. “Excuse me?” Brazzan asked in a serious tone “I did not waste all this time trying to get you back with Operetta just for you to ruin it!”

“She said it herself, she doesn't like the kingdom life, she wants adventure. If we restore her memories, we be giving her just that!” Brazzan stated “and if you don't restore her memories, she’ll be Magdir’s mate forever. I don't want that, and I know you don't either.”

“Fine.” Hunter sighed as they reached a huge pearl. “Put your hands on it.” Brazzan instructed.

Operetta and Hunter both put their hands on it making it glow, making the water look a beautiful sunset color.

“Hunter! This is amazing!” Operetta cheered. “I know, you always loved the sunset.” Hunter muttered the last part. Can she be anymore cute!

The rest of the day, Hunter and Operetta walked along the beach “Hunter, I don't know what it is about you and your friends, but I feel so close to you.” Operetta said, resting her head on Hunter’s shoulder.

That’s because you’re my mate. Hunter just smiled “why don't you come with us.”

“Huh?” she asked. “Yeah, we’re leaving the island soon and you said it yourself, you wanted adventure.”

“Hunter, as much as I want to, I can't.” Operetta sighed. “Why not? I know you hate the kingdom life and it’s not like you love Mag- I mean Nicholas.” Hunter rolled his eyes, he really hated Magdir.

“Well, I don't know, I don't feel the same way about Nicholas like I did before, but I have responsibilities Hunter. I just can't pick up and leave.” Operetta shook her head sadly.

“Yes you can,” Hunter cupped her hands in his “you’re just choosing not to.”

“I can't, Hunter.” Operetta told him. “Operetta, you have to remember. Remember all the good times we had.”

Hunter pulled her in close “me and you, we were amazing. You have to remember all the times I’ve told you “I love you”. All the times you stayed when any other person would leave-”

Operetta put her hand over his mouth, she shook her head, “I don't remember, I’m sorry.”

“But…” Hunter muttered through her hand “Hunter, I think it’s best if we just stay friends.” Operetta said sadly.

“I’ll leave you with this,” Operetta kissed his forehead “goodbye, Hunter.” and just like that, Operetta walked away, silent tears streaming down her face.

It’s best for the both of us...right?

HEY GUYS! Sorry for not updating for like 7 days. I've been busy. Most playing Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep

It's sooooo good! Well all the Kingdom Hearts games are but still.

I wish I could say we are close to the end, but we ain't. Like nowhere near the end.

But we are near the end of this island. If you've been keeping track of the Wedding Day timer.

We're only 5 chapters till the end of the of this Island. Probably.

Anyways! Good news is that I'm a bit less scared of my surgery. Apparently, I'm gonna have titanium in my back.

As scary as that sounds, I looked a model of what it's gonna look like and it's not as bad as it sounds.

At least I know what it'll be like.

Also, I'm trying to make updates faster, so please bear with me.

Stay Sweet,
Sugar_And_Spice125 💕
