Not only was Star shocked, but Marco, Mabel, and Dipper also exchanged fearful faces.

"What?" Star muttered.

"Destroy it." Toffee repeated.

"No, I - I can't. I don't even know how."

"But you do. It was the first spell your mother taught you."

"The Whispering Spell."

"Yes, the Whispering Spell. You destroy your wand and I'll let your friend go."

Star thought for a moment, her eyes landing on the precious wand in her hands. "No." She simply answered. Her voice held an edge of harshness.

"I was afraid you might say that." At that moment, Toffee pulled out a remote control. Pressing the red button, Toffee knew he had cornered Star.

"Star!" Marco called out. Star turned around, watching with shocked eyes as the casing slowly came down on Marco. He stared up at the ceiling that was lowering above him. Dipper and Mabel gasped, rushing over to the box, as well as Star.

"No! Marco!" Star cried, putting her hands on the box as if it would make the ceiling stop lowering. "Stop! Make it stop!"

Mabel put her back against one of the box's walls, trying to push it upwards. Dipper continued to bang on the glass, hoping it would break. All the kids' attempts were useless.

"You know what you need to do." Toffee stated.

Star stopped trying to fight the box and stared intensely at the lizard man. Finally, she closed her eyes and gave in. It was for Marco.

"I'm sorry." Star spoke softly to her wand. Keeping her eyes closed, she began to recite the Whispering Spell. As she did, the wand responded by turning into an ugly black and the white wings withered away into dust.

Everyone watched in silence. Mabel did try to reach out to Star, but Dipper grabbed her other arm to hold her back from doing so. Dipper was smart enough to realize that the blonde needed some space. Meanwhile, Star beholded the destruction of her own magical wand. It was the wand she used to always depend on. Whenever she had an issue, she always seemed to count on the wand to save the day, although it did cause some trouble, at times. But, sending her wand to deactivate was the toughest thing she ever had to do.

She gazed upon the star in the center of her wand with teary eyes. It used to be bright and yellow but now was a dead, black star. The wings had also been blown away into the air, never to be seen again. A unicorn's soul flew out of the wand, spinning around Star's head. It was the soul of the unicorn who once powered the wand.

The unicorn had hair that blew in the wind and bold shining eyes. Instead of being full of color, it was now consumed with a light blue color. In Star's ear, the unicorn warned her of the upcoming self destruction of the wand. Star let tears escape her eyes, rolling down her pink hearts on her cheeks. She stepped up to the dining table and set her wand onto the table, gently. Then, she backed away, dropping her head in sorrow.

"Now let Marco go." Star said, rubbing the tears away.

Toffee did as he was told, being a man of his word. The box was in the process of squishing Marco, while he kept his hands on the lowering ceiling. His lungs felt like they would collapse and suffocate him. Suddenly, the box began to rise, Marco trying to steadily get up on his feet. Along with the pressure off his chest, Marco could finally breathe. He was pretty sure, for a second, that he had met his end. Fortunately, his best friend had saved his life.
