For Marco's entire stay at the castle, he stayed resistant. The shackles felt harsh on his wrists, but he didn't care. Though, he did not get enough hours of sleep, Marco stayed wide awake. Toffee had warned him earlier to save his energy. He told him the glass box he was sustained in was impenetrable. Marco learned that the hard way when Toffee released his wrists free from his chair.

Every karate move he knew, he used on the glass. Everytime he tried, he had failed. He wouldn't stop until his lungs stung and his chest rose heavily and sunk deeply. He would stop, fight the glass one more time, heave in oxygen to his lungs, and repeat.

Toffee witnessed the boy's actions as if he was lacking intelligence. "Try all you want, kid. It's not going to work."

"Won't. Stop. Until. It. Breaks." Marco panted, punching and side kicking the glass. "Can't. Let. Star. Do. This."

"Doesn't that hurt?" Gideon asked the Mexican.

Marco took a pause from pounding the box. "I don't...care. Star needs me."

He had finally given up after a few more tries, resting back on the insulting chair that he felt defeated in. He found his knuckles to be swollen and red with cuts. His legs were also sore and weak from round-house kicks.

If he didn't get out of here, Star would have to make the most horrible decision ever. He needed to get out and escape to show his best friend he was okay.

He could even still hear her voice replay in his head. He found everything playing as a flashback in his thoughts.

"I'm a magical princess from another dimension!"

He scanned through everything Star had said.

"I don't need a hero. I need a friend."

"Marco, you are awesome."

"What's important is that we've got each other's back."

In the end, it just made his eyes water. The position he was in also reminded him of the first time he thought he had lost Star. Thanks to Mewberty, Marco thought he was never going to see Star again. However, that was before she had come back, shooting to the ground like a fallen angel. Then, he held her tight into a hug...

Like best friends...

The way she snorted a little when she laughed made Marco always laugh too. He missed that precious laugh.
