He raced through the woods, branches and leaves whipping agains his face. He was much older that he should. Screwing up his eyes, the tom pushed harder against the ground. Making a sharp left turn, he worked his tail out of the vile creature's stinking breath. Returning his focus to what was right in front of him, he stared in terror at a stone wall made by Humans. Hardly having time to think, the young cat smacked painfully into the wall. In an odd, terrifying sort of way, he felt his skull and neck shatter. His death was quick and painful.

Jerking out of sleep, Frost stood and gasped for air. I'm safe...wow! The kitten attempted to calm his shaky nerves. He looked around the dark house as he shook in his soft, blue nest-bed given to him by his Humans. There was the couch, the image-and-sound box - now turned off for the night. His food and water bowl were half-full. The window was open and fresh, cool, night air swept in as a breeze whispered past.

Sighing, Frost scolded himself for being scared of a dream. But it felt so real... I actually felt pain. Twisting, he began to groom his white fur, splotched with gray. The gray was striped with darker gray. The young tom struck both paws foward, paused, and then rolled onto them to stretch his hind legs. He reasoned that a midnight snack would help him.Out the corner of his eye, silver light flashed near the window. Nearly jumping out of his fur, he twisted his and picked his ears as he stilled his ever twitching tail and strained his eyes. The only remnant of what he may or may not have saw was a wisp of shiny gray that disappeared just as quickly as it appeared. Food can wait.

He leapt onto the windowsill, and glared at the forest. What appeared to be a trail of silver dust lined the ground. As he gazed upon the spectacular sight, he knew that, had he choose to follow it, the entire course of his life would change forever. Turning his head back towards his humans, still asleep in their nest-bed, he meowed a goodbye. I probably won't ever see them again..
